Strengths: Rip CD tracks efficiently and well
Weakness: Software a little confusing and sometimes doesn't do some of the less important things it's supposed to do.
On balance I am very pleased with the product. It's large capacity will let me store as much of my music collection as I would want. Sound through decent headphones is fine. Navigation to songs take a little getting used to but probably no different than any other device.
Some complaints. It's unclear how to restore music I delete from my collection without having to make a folder on the hard drive copying the previously deleted item. There otherwise seems to be a button that would restore everything you ever deleted, not a particular targeted item. Maybe there's a way, but I had to use my indirect method. Also, some of the album cover art I added to those that had none from the data base show up on the desktop but don't sync to the device. Maybe I'm missing something here, too. Yet, for it's basic purpose of compiling and listening to music, I am pleased with it and on balance would recommend it.

I am very please with our Zune. We thing the construction is excellent and the screen size is good. I updated the firmware which resolved a lot of past issues. I like the color a lot with the green tinge at the edges - I'm down with brown! The user interface is easy to use.
Down sides are that the battery life is mediocre. Also, the only way to sync the device is by using the Zune software, so there's no choices there.

Bought this 30GB brown microsoft zune from Amazon at black friday.It has large screen and the sound quality is decent. The good point I want to highlight here is its large storage, I install everything inside it and it still has enough space for me to install other stuff. So it is also a mobile hard drive for me. In addtion, the price is also inexpensive for the brown color. I like it very much, highly recommended.

Weakness: Unable to change out battery
Easy to install. I bought two of them for my teenagers. The one installed right away. The second one had a problem connecting. It displayed a battery with a power cord symbol on the display screen. Tech support was very helpfull and offered suggestions to fix the problem. I had to allow the unit to completely discharge then fully recharge the unit for six hours and allow it to fully drain the battery again. I did that overnight and reconnected it again the next day. I waited a little while after connecting the unit and it took right off, and it has been working great every since. I love the way the music, videos, and pictures load into them. I can import music that I have stored in my windows media player with no problem. The software is simple and complements my other music players unlike other players software. I would recommend this player to anyone, young or old, we all love the players. Excellent quality product!

I bought this MP3 player for my son. For the size it was the most value for gigabytes. He had a hard time setting up the software and getting it to run correctly. It seems to be okay with him, although certainly not the best. You get what you pay for!

Great player, the screen looks great. Battery life is good even with video playing. Has wireless synch option, nice not to have to plug in a cable to do that. Just updated to latest firmware for podcast playback.

TopStrengths: Large screen, simple navigation, nice graphic detail and ease of use with software, great price. The new Firmware is awesome and simple. It's sturdy. Photos look amazing on the large screen.
Weakness: A little bulkier than iPod, but I don't really see it as a weakness. It's easier to carry around. Accessories aren't easy to find.
I have never wanted an iPod. iTunes is horrible software and the iPod is so limited. I bought a 30GB Zune a couple months ago, and I absolutely love it. It's far better than iPod for the features, software, price, quality, and the screen is nearly twice the size. It also has FM radio and wireless, which iPods don't have. My girlfriend loves it too. She just sold her 30 GB iPod (which she didn't like at all) so she can get a Zune. It's such a great value for the money and the best MP3 player on the market. I bought mine for only $99 new.

TopStrengths: Decent video and audio quality and battery life

Overall, I am happy with the Zune. It has good video and audio qaulity with large hard drive and good battery life. However, I wish i can recharge without a computer. In addition I wish it was plug and play without having to install any software to manage data on the Zune.

Got this for $98.99 is a great player the video are clear and sound quality is good. Like some of the other players in the market does not show up as additional drive when attached to the computer so has to be synchronize cannot just drag and drop or copy files. Takes long time to synchronize could not delete files. And could not make out how to change the battery once the battery is dead.

Overall, this does everything (Play MP3 and video and listen to radio) I want to for only $100. I can store all my mp3 file (10,000+) on this HD. I just need to figure out a easy way to organize and find the file i want. Sound quality is great.

TopStrengths: Good screen, good fidelity
Weakness: You have to figure things out on your own. Little to no documentation comes with the Zune. Can not be used as a supplemental hard drive. It recognizes only specific files.
I got this to replace a Jukebox which was about 4 years old. The Zune is a BIG improvement over it. Uploading from the old MP3 player was a breeze, but time consuming. But with over 3,000 songs loaded, what can you expect. This color can be had pretty cheap right now (under $100) and it is WELL worth the price. Not all the bells and whistles that the newest versions have, but a great purchase!

The zune is a good mp3 for the money that you pay for it. The new firmware update for the hardware and software make it much easier to use than before. It now supports podcasts and different audio/video formats. Overall, the zune is a good mp3 player for those looking for one.

When it was sold at the first time, it was called as iPod killer. After I used both and compared them carefully, I found that this one is close to iPod, but not as good as iPod in terms of sound quality. Concerning the dropped price, it is a good product for kids.

I have several media players. Zune has very good quality in terms of sound and outlook. Although it is not as so many function as the Phillips media player, it is portable. A good choice.

The Zune is an mp3 player that come with a 3-inch screen. It runs on a customized version of Portable Media Center software. The Zune also features an FM tuner and a integrated Wi-Fi chip, which allows it to seek out other Zunes. This allows users share music and photos. The Zune may be a thicker than the ipod than the 30GB iPod, but in my opinion it is sturdier and screen is beautiful to watch over long periods of time. Just wish they could have slimmed down the physical dimensions a bit. Overall a very good player for a great price (I paid $99). I plan on keeping this one in my car.

This is the first mp4 player I bought. It has its advantages compared with Ipod, espically the large LCD and competitive price. The LCD is bright with high resolution. You shouldn't complain more about the price around $100. The problem is that it is a little bit thick and heavy as a portable player. In addition, english is the only language ZUNE supports, that will be a pain.

This is an excellent mp3 player. It is slightly larger than I wanted it to be but still is amazing. The 3 inch screen is perfect for watching movies and music videos. The 30 GB hard drive is large enough to hold thousands of songs and is very hard to fill. Furthermore, as of now the Zune can have its firmware upgraded to the Zune 2 firware (version 2.1). This allows wireless sync of the device, which adds to the already outstanding features. Also it has features Ipods dont like a FM tuner. The Zune is a great mp3 and video player for anyone.

TopStrengths: i like the 30g hard drive and the audio plays many different formats and is easy to use. The video has good quality
Weakness: The video is very confusing at first and you have to buy extra software to convert many formats. point systen for downloads is crazy. Once you get it figured out the screen cracks for unknown reason
Microsoft Zune LCD screens are a serious defect. Worst of all Microsoft says its not covered and they will not fix it at any price. mine cracked in about 60 days as i was scrolling my songs it cracked right before my eyes. I did a Google search and found thousands of the same complaints. Don't take my word, check for yourself. I am surprised that I am the only one on this site with this problem.

TopStrengths: The "Channel Info" coded FM Radio, "Large LCD Screen" and "Wireless Communication" between units make it a "CUT ABOVE" the Apple I-POD.
Weakness: My only complaint is probably the fact it's a little wider than the compettition, the switches are a little more low tech and there are fewer accessories available for it than the competition I-POD.
I have no real complaints concerning the Microsoft Zune media player. I've now owned two, as my first one was stolen. I had to buy another one, as they are addictive. I have 1,461 songs and 1,654 high resolution pictures with 21.99GB free and haven't even loaded any video. My daughters both have I-PODS, as they are "cool looking" but admit that my ZUNE is more functional. So the question is: 'Function' or 'looks'?

MS Zune media player comes with a 30GB internal hard drive which can store lots of music, movies and pictures. I like this brown color one since brown is my favorite color all the time. Got it as a gift from my wife and like it so much. The quality of sound is terrific and watching videos and pictures are amazing on it. Good resolution of LCD displayer. But I have to say its software is not easy for everyone to operate. It took me hours to make it work. And I still got trouble to make it work as an external hard drive, but that will be just a plus.

Weakness: The only weakness that is also shares with the Ipod Video is that is a bit chunky.
I bought my Zune in February of 2007. It has been such a grand purchase. I treasure it and I use it about 1-2 daily. The Zune is great because anyone can share songs with other Zunes because of the built-in wireless card. It is simply amazing. You can share songs, videos, recordings, TV shows, and pictures with other members of the Zune society. I would reccomend this product to anyone who is looking for an "easy to get used to" product that will produce a lot of fun, entertainment and power. It is well worth getting and the Zune is quite fun. It has a built-in FM tuner which is more than any one of the iPods have. This device has had a major positive impact on my life.

M$ did a good job with trying to compete in the dominant iPod market with their 1st Gen Zune player. Able to play audio, video it also has a FM tuner and you can transfer songs wirelessly to another Zune player.

I bought this mp4 when it was going to be replaced by ZUNE II. So the price is decent, and so is the function. It of course can play different kinds of video and audio format. It has 30GB capacity, so you can put a lot of movies in. Almost forget to mention its big LCD, which is its best attractions compared with other mp4s. In addition, it has a lot of accessories, such as automobile usage. But I found it doesn't support east Asian characters, which is annoying when you listen non-English musics. MS didn't give a solution yet. Hope it will come
