4 Star Review The first iPod worth owning

Strengths:

Small, thin, light, plays fluid video, the best user interface around, superb battery life, finally cost comparable to competitors of similar memory size, matte finish on front

Weaknesses:

Glossy finish on back prone to smudging and scratches, video requires conversion time before being playable on device, can be a little too small to watch lengthy videos, size and shape...

Posted Oct 21, 2007 - I've never owned an iPod before because none of the flash memory based iPods were capable of playing video. Additionally, they were more expensive compared to competitors of similar sizes. Now, the cost is about the same, this new Nano can play video, and everything is about right. The battery life literally lasts 24 hours on a single charge, and it still boasts the touch-sensitive click wheel that makes it ideal for long podcasts or audiobooks which is my primary use for the iPod. However, video doesn't play on the Nano unless you take time to convert it. The device's shiny back also picks up finger prints like crazy. The stout, thin shape also isn't as comfortable to hold as the iPod Classic or the old iPod Nano, but it does make it more pocketable. Highly recommended. I'd give it five stars if it weren't for the stupid glossy back.

4 Star Review IPOD 3RD GENERATION 8GB MP3 PLAYER

Strengths:

It is small and compact with a good battery life. Videos are clear!

Weaknesses:

The case marks easily!

Posted Jan 20, 2008 - This is my first ipod! I like how compact it is and how I can take it with me wherever I go. I love the video feature and how clear the picture is. It is a great product for the price. I would purchase it again.

4 Star Review Spending $ 200 !!! Should be more than just an mp3 payler

Strengths:

Very much portable !! Stylist and cute !!! Great battery life if listen to music only

Weaknesses:

Scratches very easily, Complicate to transfer videos and Must use ITunes to sync with computer

Posted Oct 22, 2007 - It is very good for listening music but not so good for video as LCD is a little small to watch video for long periods of time. I was excited at first to see video but I couldn't play any of the video files that I have on my computer , as it doesn't play unless you spend time to convert it. very comfortable to hold and portable. Overall it is very nice, but a little bit highly priced.

4 Star Review Small package packs a punch

Strengths:

Small form factor, 8 GBs of space, matte finish, video capability

Weaknesses:

LCD is a little small to watch video for long periods of time, not much new software

Posted Oct 7, 2007 - This is the third iPod nano I've owned, and it's by far the best one. Just when you think they can't make it any smaller, they surprise you with this new slim form factor. I can barely feel it when it's in my pocket. The screen is bright and clear, though a bit too small to view videos comfortably for more than 30 minutes. The controls are intuitive, indicative of all the recent Apple products. There aren't too many new features (cover flow), but the new form factor makes this iPod a must-have.

5 Star Review Once again, Apple comes out with another excellent product!

Strengths:

great big beautiful screen, movie playback

Weaknesses:

none

Posted Dec 12, 2007 - Once again, Apple comes out with another excellent product! Here are some pros and cons about the nano. Pros: - Has a great big beautiful screen (2 inches) - Battery life is excellent! I got my nano about 3 weeks ago and it still hasn't died on me. - Sleek, smooth design - charge time is very quick (about 3 hours for full charge) - Interface is eye candy - sound quality is pretty decent with the provided ear buds (I would recommend getting a better pair of headphones though) - Movie play back and picture browsing is crystal clear

5 Star Review Apple Ipod Nano 8gb, 3rd generation

Strengths:

Compact design while still keeping screen size. Battery life before recharging.

Weaknesses:

None noted at this time.

Posted Dec 3, 2007 - This is the second nano ipod I have purchased in the last twelve months and like this one even for because of the video playback and the ease of downloads for the Itune store.

2 Star Review Good for mp3s, useless for video

Strengths:

Sleek design, good navigation for mp3 files

Weaknesses:

Can't play any popular video formats. Must use ITunes to sync with computer.

Posted Oct 19, 2007 - I'd give player 4 stars for it's audio abilities and 0 for video, that's how I came up with average score of 2. The reason I gave 0 for video is because I couldn't play any of the video files I could find on my computer. Not the mpeg2 files I ripped from DVD, not the Avi files I downloaded from Internet, not Windows WMV files, not even Apple's own MOV format as recorded by my digital camera... Even when I used 3rd party software to convert videos to supposedly recognizable format, I still couldn't load them to Ipod. The curious thing is that MOV files, at least I was able to load in Itunes... but then it failed to sync them with Ipod anyway. The verdict: Forget video, it's a good, but overpriced mp3 player.

5 Star Review Super Slim iPod nano w/great User Interface (UI)

Strengths:

Slim, UI, battery life, can play photos & videos

Weaknesses:

Back is shiny chrome (scratches easily), small scrollwheel

Posted Dec 30, 2007 - This is my 2nd iPod. My first iPod was a 4gb 1st generation iPod mini in 2004. I only have about 6gb worth of music - so the nano was a great choice for me. I also go to the gym 3-4 times a week and I always bring my nano along. The battery life is very good (claimed to be around 23 hours). I did also transfer some photos and videos on the new iPod nano and they do look pretty nice. In the tech specs, the Nano has the highest PPI out of the new iPods (including the touch and iPhone), this makes the photos and videos look nice & crispy on the screen. Although, the screen is a little too small to watch videos and now I don't really bother with the trouble of converting stuff to videos. I mainly use this to listen to music while I'm at the gym and in my car. Great iPod and I'd recommend it to all that is looking for something small/slim with this range of storage capacity (4gb - 8gb).

The back of it scratches easily.

Posted 1 year ago - I have never had an ipod or ipod nano, but a lot of my friends have it and they let me use it sometimes. All the times that I have used one it seemed so cool. For Christmas, I have begged my mom for one , she says she will get me an ipod nano black.

5 Star Review One of the best iPods so far

Strengths:

Very lightweight. Screen is small, but not too small.

Weaknesses:

The back scraches easily so get a case for it.

Posted Feb 28, 2008 - I had a 2nd Generation Nano that I lost, so I got this to replace it. I have had it for about two months and have loved it. It is very compact and the screen is the right size to watch a personal movie. I would highly recomend it to runners because it is very lightweight and you can get a arm-band so you can listen to it while you run.

4 Star Review Good, small ipod

Strengths:

Battery life improvements, decent navigation, quick response, good sound quality

Weaknesses:

Pricey, does not come with wall charger, no belt clip

Posted Jan 31, 2008 - The small form factor of this ipod is both good and bad. I'm a tall guy, so it's sometimes awkward using the scroll wheel. I could find no major problems yet with the basic operation of this 3rd gen Nano, although I've had issues with my older ipod (mainly battery and crashing issues) so I'm hoping this one holds up. Battery life on this thing is much better than my older ipod. Audio and video quality are acceptable for me on an ipod this size. I did not like the lack of a belt clip, although I never owned a Nano so perhaps they never had belt clips. I think the Ipod mini had them, and I guess you can buy a hard case with a clip if you want one. I wish ipods still came with a wall a/c adapter charger. My old ipod came with it and they are a great help so you don't have to charge your ipod with your PC. These things are expensive as well when you buy the Apple brand a/c adapter separately.

5 Star Review Ipod nano 8gb black

Strengths:

crisp clear lcd, nice matte front, battery life, price

Weaknesses:

back prone to smudges and scratches, crappy earbuds

Posted Jan 28, 2008 - This is a great unit for anyone who wants an affordable player that works well. It hold up to 2,000 songs based on 4 minutes per song or up to 8 hours of video.

5 Star Review Apple iPod Nano 3rd Generation 8GB Black

Strengths:

Looks better then the previous Nano and has a bigger screen.

Weaknesses:

The menu is somewhat hard to get use to.

Posted Jan 22, 2008 - This 3rd generation iPod Nano is small and sleek. It has the same solid feel as previous iPods but refined into a sleeker smaller design. The 8GB of space is pretty great too! The only quark I have with the iPod Nano is that the font is very small and could be a little bigger, easier to read. A nice added feature if you get the iPod from Apple is you can have them engrave whatever you want on the backside of your iPod, a nice personal touch. And I also recommend getting the Apple Care extended warranty.

5 Star Review As is!

Strengths:

Very small and thin, nice interface, video

Weaknesses:

DRM infested - defectivebydesign.org

Posted Jan 11, 2008 - This has all the functionality of the hard disk iPods (5'th gen, classic) but VERY thin and small. Similar to all iPods though, unfortunately, it is DRM infested - defectivebydesign.org
