Extendability

Discussion of Buffalo Technology TeraStation 0.6 TB NAS

Posted Aug 31, 2006 - Does anyone know if the TeraStation can support drives larger than 160 GB. I was thinking about exchanging one after the other for larger ones after a while. Is that possible. Thanks, Jens

Linkstation and Ghost 10.0 restore??

Discussion of Buffalo Technology NAS Linkstation 250GB Network Storage Center

Posted Mar 10, 2006 - Have read almost all reviews of the Linkstation and nobody has mentioned using Ghost software for backing up files to the network storage. Before buying a Linkstation, I'm wondering if anyone has verified that Ghost can "see" the networked Linkstation from a "cold boot" using the Ghost 10.0 recovery CD.

FTP Access Problems - user group access, and "timed out" errors

Discussion of Buffalo Technology NAS Linkstation 250GB Network Storage Center

Posted Mar 9, 2006 - Hello - just a quick note here to help anyone else who experienced some problems with the FTP features on this product. * You cannot use user group access on the FTP folders. I phoned Buffalo tech support and they told me that you should only put access for individuals on the FTP folder access, and not to put a 'group access' to the ftp folder. * Some users could access the FTP folders from some PCs, but not from other PCs! It was showing as a "operation timed out" error when using IE, but not if you were using some other FTP clients. Tech support found that there is a sneaky IE setting that you need to change if you are using IE to access your ftp shares and are getting this error. The setting is: Internet Explorer, go to the menu, Tools, Internet Options, Advanced tab, scroll down to Browsing. Untick the box next to 'Use Passive FTP (for firewall and DSL modem compatibility)'. Hope this helps some of you! :D
