Strengths: Sonic Character that everyone loves, dual screen shows more action, 14 levels
Weakness: none
This game is really cool and it makes it cooler that Sonic can go on both of the ds screens, it has 14 cool levels with great graphics. This is a great game for the Sonic Fan it is colorful and fast action. It is a fast game packed with all kinds of challenges. A really great game.

TopStrengths: Fun, fast-paced
Weakness: None really
Side scrollers are still viable as proven by this game. Underutilizes the dual screen in my opinion but makes up for that by boss battles that leave the 2-d scolling mode and go more full 3D. Will seem immediately familiar and pleasantly nostalgic to anyone who has played the original Sonic titles.

TopStrengths: Classic Platformer; Colorful Graphics; Speed!
Weakness: Unfair Obstacles
Sonic Rush is a blast from the past from the Sega Genesis days. And though this is a completely new game on the handheld Nintendo DS system, it's got all the aspects of what made Sonic a great game to enjoy -- the speed, the lush & colorful graphics, and the mesmerizing chime of the rings being collected and the spastic horror of their spreading explosion as you frustratingly strike an unseen road obstacle.

There is no lack of velocity on this one. Zip through a dazzling array of environments and tracks as you move Sonic the Hedgehog forward. Sense the resistance as the underwater routes slow you down and gasp as Sonic runs out of air and the warning music blares to signal the need for bubble of oxygenated relief.
*
On the whole I found it very impressive for utilizing the top and bottom screens fully. What I didn't absolutely like was how clunky the controls sometimes felt. Sonic didn't always want to go where I wanted, or as quickly as I wanted. That could be a testament to my mediocre gaming skills, but it doesn't exactly require much more than holding down the control pad and doing the occasional jump and bump to get ahead.

More zones and characters are opened up the further you go along in the game. I personally like to stick with Sonic as he is the blue dude I remember.

TopStrengths: Classic sidescrolling sonic game
Weakness: Short and speedy
If you loved sonic the hedgehog in his past side-scrolling incarnations, you're going to love the DS port. It's everything that was great about sonic as he races through the level collecting rings and powerups. There are plenty of new interactive elements that will bounce, swing, and launch sonic around for an exciting ride through the levels. Interspersed between the levels are a series of boss battles which you must defeat to advance.
The downside of sonic is that the game is very short, and can be played to the end quickly. It's also classic sonic in that speed is the thing. The goal isn't necessary to be a completionist as what's important is reaction speed as you rocket through the levels. So if you're a non-twitchy completionist, this game might not be for you.

TopStrengths: Solid 2D platforming
Weakness: 3D boss battles aren't perfect
Sonic Rush is the first legitimately good Sonic platformer to see release for years. Its stellar 2D platforming levels are ended with somewhat less fulfilling 3D boss battles, but the package works. The platforming is fast and frantic as you would expect from a Sonic game. If you enjoyed his appearances on the Genesis, look this one up.

TopStrengths: Classic Sonic 2D platforming action
Weakness: Occasional issues with dual screens, short length
Sonic Rush is a return to the classic 2D platforming gameplay from older Sonic games. It uses both of the DS screens to full effect, though with some of the action, the slight delay with the changes between screens causes the occasional issue. It's fast and frantic gameplay, though it's a bit on the short side.

TopStrengths: Great 2d platform game
Weakness: Short game
This game series is new for the DS since the series was in the GBA versions. This game Sonic is faster than ever. With the good graphics from the DS this game is a very good fast paced platformer. You can achieve a lot of special skill and new characters beside Sonic. Plus you can do several tricks while airborn and the replay value is good for achieving goals. This game is worth in your collection for the Sonic Sega fans.

TopStrengths: AWESOME GAME!
Weakness: Have to get used to controls on the DS versus how they were on Sega... Also a short game... kind of short like Spider-Man 3 for the DS...
Have to get used to controls on the DS versus how they were on Sega... Also a short game... kind of short like Spider-Man 3 for the DS... Awesome game if you are a sonic fan though! If you can get it for under $20 then DO IT! :) It is a must have (if you can find it cheap).

TopStrengths: Classic 2D Sonic gameplay on the DS
Weakness: Can be somewhat difficult
Sonic Rush is a great re-imagining of the classic Sonic gameplay on the DS. Much like (but preceding it) New Super Mario Brothers, it features 3D character models and backgrounds in what is essentially throwback classic 2D gameplay. Unlike Mario, Sonic has not made a great transition to 3D and seems to be a franchise much more suited for 2D gameplay (Mario can do both). The game looks great for the DS. Like the original Sonic games, it can be somewhat difficult and may be frustrating to young children. Overall, though, this is an excellent title.

TopStrengths: fast movement, familiar feel to past console versions
Weakness: maybe too fast?
Yah, a Sonic platformer finally. After all of the spinoffs, Sonic Rush is a fast (maybe too fast) paced game. I never really was able to handle the previous generations of Sonic platformers very well because of the fast pace Sonic sets once he gets going. I miss items, rings, enemies and side paths as they whiz by. However, for those with those lightening fast reflexes, this title should fit you to a T.
One of the additions to the game is the ability to do “tricks” while in the air. Not only is this fun, but it will increase your boost meter which allows you to go faster/farther when needed. By completing those tricks and filling the boost gauge, you should be able to use boost as often as you wish.
This title also utilized both screens which is great and since there’s really no stylus input, there’s nothing to have to decide while beating on the boss or flying through an area. Overall it’s a solid game and if you liked past Sonic platformers from the 90’s, you should enjoy this one also. It a very familiar feel.

TopStrengths: Great feeling of speed, Good old Sonic.
Weakness: Bottomless pits. The controls take a little getting used to.
I loved the old 2D Sonic games on the Genesis but the recent 3D games have been average to bad. Sega finally wised up and released a game of Nintendo's handheld that embraces 2D gameplay.
And the gameplay for Sonic Rush is great. Blast through levels while collecting rings, avoiding enemies and doing tricks to up your boost is all as much fun as the Sonic games of old.

TopStrengths: Classic Sonic Gameplay
Weakness: Music, Difficuly
Sonic Rush is a classic Sonic game at heart, reverting back to 2D after so many successful 2D games in the past. It is every thing you want in a Sonic game, fast paced action that is loads of fun. Unfortunately, it can be quite challenging for some people, but it does not stop it from being very fun. Graphically you get what you expect with a Sonic game, solid, but nothing fancy. The music can be pretty bad but luckily for you, you can just turn it down. Overall it is a very good game for those into the 2D Sonic games.

TopStrengths: The use of both screens in this game is just great, not just cool! It's fast, and feels just like one of the original Sonic games from the Genesis days
Weakness: In my opinion, the new character, Blaze the Cat..sucks. She's boring and not all that fast/fun like Sonic. I would of personally rather been Sonic and Tails, or Knuckles.. or even Amy for that matter!
A game that can be found for $20 or less, it's stupid to not pick it up especially if you are a Sonic fan. Doing a loop from the bottom screen ALL the way up and around through the top and back down the bottom screen again is just awesome!

While the 2-D Sonic tradition has been carried on fairly well with the three Game Boy Advance releases, one can’t help but notice that with each new GBA release, the games began to feel a bit stale. The games were good enough in themselves, but they just didn’t really bring anything new to the series. Thankfully, Sonic Team decided that it was time to give the old 2-D Sonic a makeover with...

Sonic Back in Form
Strengths: Abandons recent 3D iterations for classic Sonic gameplay. Wonderul music.
Weakness: Kind of on the short side.
Finally another 2D Sonic, and he doesn't disappoint. While the game is on the short side there is some replay value, because you can go through the game as Blaze the Cat once she is unlocked. This is the Sonic that fans have been waiting for.
