jaykid007 - (June 09, 2008) This unit works great on my Sony HDR-SR11. It is the perfect solution for filming night scenes or any place where there is no light. My camcorder has nightshot mode but the nightshot on this unit enhances it even brighter. When you turn on the regular 3W light, even adds more brightness. I have filmed in the complete darkness and this makes the scene light up. I would suggest this unit to anyone that spends a decent buck on these expensive camcorders.

4 Star Review Canon VL-10Li II On Camcorder Battery Video Light

techtechie - (December 01, 2007) The Canon VL-10Li II On Camcorder Battery Video Light is a must-have for illuminating your subject with the Canon XH-A1 camcorder. The 10 watt light works as advertised with the only drawback being it requires a separate Canon battery in order to use it. It fits smartly onto the camcorder and throws enough light to illuminate subjects 10 or 15 feet distant. The price of the VL-10i is a plus. Recommended.

claytaylor - (November 18, 2007) I'm a member of a paranormal investigation group so IR nightshot is a must. What came with my camera (Sony HDR-HC5) was good but not as good as it could be with this attachment. I can already tell a drastic increase in the night shot capabilities. This is definitely recommended by me if you need to do anything in low light.

1 Star Review A product that could have done with soem better planning and design.

geo442 - (02/29/2008) Also got this for my HG-10 around the holidays, and I was quite disappointed from the get-go. The unit simply dfoesn't do the main job it's meant to: providing a small light source for a compact camera. It's too dim to help much for subjects further more than 4-6 feet away; the light itself is a nightmare in terms of color balance (think an old style flourescent bar light and you're not too far from the truth). And the locationof the hot shoe mount means the camera cuts off some of (what little) light is there. Then there's "auto" mode, where it's supposed to adjust functionally for changing ambient conditions. It semes to have 2 settings: white it out or gecome so dim as to be worthless. I don't think I've used the auto mode since the second day I've owned this. On the plus side, it's farily functional as a flash for still-picture taking... But had I know this was the big selling pont of this light, I'd just haveb bought an adapter for my EX-430 flash: would have saved money and gotten better results. Maybe there are some conditions where this light is a boon, but I have yet to find one. Generally a disappointent all around in ym book, especially at the price (then again, when the product doesn't live up to expectations, any price is too high, no?)

5 Star Review Sima SL-9 3 Watt Compact Video Light

techtechie - (12/01/2007) The Sima SL-9 3 Watt Compact Video Light is a handy light which I use on my Canon XH-A1 camcorder. It fits right onto the accessory shoe hookup of my camcorder. It has it's own rechargeable batteries and charger and throws enough light for doing soft portrait images of your subject. For it's price the SL-9 is very good. Highly recommended.
