Keeps on crunching
Powerful motor, doesn't bog down, keeps going. Basket is sturdy. Wheels. Full indicator.
It's big - get out your ruler - and find a corner to stash it in.
Posted Jun 24, 2007 - This is a great shredder - the motor is low and quiet, and sounds like it will chew through anything. It has yet to bog down. I had another "professional" level shredder by another G.. brand, and actually broke a gear when jamming it after it filled unbeknownst to us. This was half the cost of that other brand's next one up, which was their recommendation. Evidently, to them, even nowadays, shredding 20 pieces of junk mail a day is a "lot". This shredder has no problem with daily mail. Reviews of lower models of Fellowes shredders complained of a flimsy basket, especially when removed (the basket is the base). This unit stands alone and is sturdy even when the basket is removed - so it's nice to empty it. It is pretty big, so just make sure there's somewhere to put it. The casters make it nice to wheel out if needed. The basket is on the short end (facing front in the pictures) so we can just pull it out and empty it - other shredders often have it on the long side. The full indicator is nice - a bit premature when the pile reaches it, so we just shake it down for one more round. Highly recommended, and a really good value. They call it 'personal' but it's a lot heftier than that.
