5 Star Review Keeps on crunching

Strengths:

Powerful motor, doesn't bog down, keeps going. Basket is sturdy. Wheels. Full indicator.

Weaknesses:

It's big - get out your ruler - and find a corner to stash it in.

Posted Jun 24, 2007 - This is a great shredder - the motor is low and quiet, and sounds like it will chew through anything. It has yet to bog down. I had another "professional" level shredder by another G.. brand, and actually broke a gear when jamming it after it filled unbeknownst to us. This was half the cost of that other brand's next one up, which was their recommendation. Evidently, to them, even nowadays, shredding 20 pieces of junk mail a day is a "lot". This shredder has no problem with daily mail. Reviews of lower models of Fellowes shredders complained of a flimsy basket, especially when removed (the basket is the base). This unit stands alone and is sturdy even when the basket is removed - so it's nice to empty it. It is pretty big, so just make sure there's somewhere to put it. The casters make it nice to wheel out if needed. The basket is on the short end (facing front in the pictures) so we can just pull it out and empty it - other shredders often have it on the long side. The full indicator is nice - a bit premature when the pile reaches it, so we just shake it down for one more round. Highly recommended, and a really good value. They call it 'personal' but it's a lot heftier than that.

5 Star Review Wise purchase

Strengths:

Power, ease of use, great styling, great styling

Weaknesses:

A bit pricey for home use but worth it.

Posted Jan 19, 2008 - This shredder is a bit of an overkill for home use but believe me this is the one you want. This machine will devour your documents and turn them into confetti for years. Matter of fax has a great price and great service.

5 Star Review Fellowes 3219701: Powershred SB-97CS Heavy-Duty Confetti-Cut Paper Shredder

Strengths:

An Attractive Modern Design with a Powerful Motor and Four Wheels to move around wherever needed straight out of the box.

Weaknesses:

It's to Large for placing underneath a Desk. However, having a Ten Gallon Pull Out Waste Basket Justifies the Big Size.

Posted Dec 22, 2007 - This is the Best Value Home-Office Shredder available with the Performance and Reliability that should Last Well Beyond the Seven Year Blade Warranty. This Heavy-Duty Shredder will most likely handle all of our shredding needs for the next decade.

5 Star Review Fellowes Powershred SB-97CS Heavy Duty Confetti-Cut Shredder

Strengths:

Seems to have plenty of power for home use; nice looking; Shreds CD's and credit cards

Weaknesses:

A little on the noisy side; Opening could be a little wider so that envelopes could go in horizontally rather than vertically

Posted Dec 17, 2007 - After using this shredder for a week, I wished that I had bought it sooner. I had a small underpowered shredder prior to purchasing this one and I had to open envelopes with multiple sheets of paper and shred about two or three pages at a time. Now, I just put the whole envelope in and I'm done. I would not have even thought of trying to shred a CD or credit card with my old shredder, but with his one it is no prolem. I have not come across an envelope thick enough yet that will jam this shredder. Now, it's a pleasure to shred all of those credit card offers! I also like that this shreder looks good and is on casters. It's easy to rollout then put away. It's a bit on the noisy side at first, but after awhile it doesn't seem that bad. I would definitely recommend this shredder for home use.

5 Star Review Nice Shredder for the Price!

Strengths:

Eats up just about everything. Has an automatic reversing feature handy for jams. Nice looking for its size. Can shred credit cards, CDs, etc.

Weaknesses:

The basket could have been a little better designed but then again we didn't buy this for its aesthetic design. FYI, in general it's a nice looking shredder though.

Posted Dec 13, 2007 - So far I love this shredder, and it was ready to use out of the box. All you need to do is plug it in and since I'm a neat freak you can also throw a bag into the basket. Just keep in mind when you pull it out all the shredded papper still at the top will fall into the unit behind the basket which you just pulled out. Other than that we love it and we so far it's shredding everything with ease. On average it's shredding 100-200 pages per day for us and so far so good!
