4350 & 4355 - Very functional PDAs
It's Thin, It has a Keyboard, the Keyboard is backlit to use in the dark, and pretty good Wireless abilities for both Bluetooth and WiFi, Good processor speed.
Can't upgrade to Pocket PC 2003 Second Edition!! The 4 Way navigation button is too small causing you to easily tap the center button when you are trying to navigate.
Posted Oct 5, 2005 - It's just a simple fact... You can input data faster and more of it easier with a thumb board or keyboard than with just a stylus alone. If you're looking for Pocket PC with the built in Keyboard then the 4350 and 4355 currently is your only choice with out going to a Pocket PC smart phone. Since the 4350 and the 4355 is currently your only choice, than at least you wont be disappointed. I have been using mine for over a year. Even though the OS can't be upgraded to PPC 2003 SE, and now there are new PPC being shipped with Windows Mobile 5.0 the 4350 can still hold it's weight and still be used as a very productive tool, whether for business or personal use. The 4350 has a good solid feel to it. The battery is replaceable and swappable. The Docking station, (though weakly deigned in my opinion) is functional if you have a spare battery because the battery can be charged while you are also charging your 4350. The 4350 has a decent speaker volume and a good built in microphone to record. After a year of heavy use on the keyboard, all the buttons still function like new and none of the letters on the keys have worn off. Though I keep the 4350 in a case, it has held up very well with no scratch, unlike other PDAs I had that began to wear down in the case over time. I've used Bluetooth on the 4350 to sync to my laptop and play music through Bluetooth headphones and WiFi to hit the internet in hotspots. The Screen though only 3.5 inches diagonally, the screen is bright and clear and good to watch movies, despite some of the earlier reviews of the screen having a yellow tint which only appears this way when looking at the screen from certain angles, not straight on. Though the 4350 only has 64 megs of memory if managed well with an SD card it will be more than enough. The 4350 is fast with it's 400mhz processor and has never left me waiting outside it’s normal operations. Even though the 4350 has an older OS by today’s comparison it is still very solid and well developed and has never reset on me that I can recall unless I was screwing around with known flakey software. If I were in the market for a PDA with a keyboard today with all the newer PDAs coming out (now 2 generations newer than the 4350), I'd still choose it since it is beyond functional and offers something which no other current PDA has... The built in Keyboard.
