Strengths:

Very Attractive, It's a Sony!

Weaknesses:

Definitely has a Manufacturer's Defect.

Posted Nov 24, 2006 - Stay away from this unit. I installed 2 of them. The first died within 48 hours and the second a month later, both showing the same fault. The simply will not turn back on. DEAD! Replaced them with good looking 'no-name' product that are functioning perfectly.

1 Star Review Obvious Manufacturer Defect

Strengths:

Looks pretty. Nice picture.

Weaknesses:

Was expensive when I purchased. Randomly turns off. Defective line.

Posted Dec 24, 2007 - The tv is obviously a defect that Sony refuses to admit to. My unit started randomly turning off and on at the 9 month mark. I called Sony, they jerked me around. The TV will work fine for a couple months then go into fits for a week or so. I've done extensive research and apparently the problem is a defective "A-board" in all the units. Sony's customer service is extremely lacking. Not to mention you have to get past the overseas customer service people first who are reading off a screen to get to someone who actually speaks english fluently. The fact that the internet is full of reviews complaining about the product with 1 or 2 happy comments here and there you would think Sony would admit to their completely defective unit. 1 Star Review Design Defect; Asking Sony to Buy it Back

Strengths:

Beautiful, Gorgeous picture when it is working.

Weaknesses:

Our second set has now gone out!

Posted Apr 6, 2007 - Our retailer replaced our first set after it started going off randomly at the ripe old age of 2 months. Now our replacement set is doing the same thing after 3 months. Have asked Sony to give us a credit on a new set (retailer says this model is the only one he has had trouble with). Do NOT buy this model, and do NOT buy any model Sony unless you hear that they deal competently with purchasers of this model.

Posted Jan 6, 2008 - do not buy this product!!!! i have this TV and have been extremely happy until now. the warranty just ran out and its started turning off then back on as per all the other reviews. today it turned off for good, trying to get this sorted for free from sony but i doubt ill have any luck. i expected at least 3 years trouble free, thats why we buy sony isnt it

Posted Jul 24, 2006 - I bought this unit in May and after two or three weeks the set began randomly turning off and on, then died about a week later. A repairman checked and said the control unit had burned out. The store was willing to replace the entire set. However, the new unit began doing the same thing about four or five weeks later. Am now looking forward to another repair visit but expect it is the same problem. I have since learned that other customers are experiencing the same thing. Think this unit has a design or manufacturing flaw that probably requires a product recall.

Posted Oct 25, 2006 - Wow, now that my KLV32U100M has gone completely out, I'm finding out the hard way that it's a common problem and even more disturbingly, one that Sony knows about but won't acknowledge...at least to me they won't. Like others, my set started randomly turning off, then on, then off and now it won't come back on at all. I have so many calls into Sony and local servicers that I've lost count and nobody is willing to help me even though we're more than two weeks into this ordeal. I'll NEVER buy another Sony product and hope you don't either because the headaches just aren't worth it.

Posted Feb 11, 2007 - I have had this Sony LCD for 3 months it started shutting off after a month now it is getting more frequent Sony has now told me to contact a service center I do not have any faith in this product stay away from it .

Posted 1 month ago - My problem is the same as everyone else. It started cutting off periodically and then just died out of the blue and will not turn back on. I've tried to get Sony to be accountable but they won't. I will NEVER buy another Sony! I've explained how so many people are having the same problem and they don't care. Apparently they don't see it as a big deal.

Posted 3 months ago - I bought this TV in 2006. It started turning off and on a few weeks ago but thought it was a problem with the cable. It finally died. It won't turn on at all!! Sony claims that it's a unique problem to this model and won't replace it or provide updated software like they have offered for other models. Based on what I've read, I'm not alone. Do NOT buy this television.
