Discussion of Samsung LN-S4692D 46" LCD TV

Posted Jul 30, 2006 - Just set-up my 46" LCD Samsung and watched a 2-1/2 hr DVD. Two comments: 1) the high gloss black trim picked up glare from the room (lights, windows) and I find this an annoyance (no glare was a major reason for me going LCD); 2) after viewing my movie I noticed the LCD panel emitted a lot of heat feeling very warm, almost hot! Is this normal for an LCD? 3) in the setup (Setting) is a switch for "energy saving" which when "off" offers a very bright picture. When set to low, medium, high energy saving the picture the picture becomes progressively dimmer. Is this controlling the amount of back-lighthing and hence driving the back-lighting bulb life? 4) the picture was great and the programming was very easy to use.
