5 Star Review Great TV

Strengths:

Excellent Picture Quality, Wide Viewing Angle, Extra Features, Lots of Connections.

Weaknesses:

PiP functionality could be better, remote is akward.

Posted Dec 7, 2006 - This TV is great, I love the picture quality. Black's are good for an LCD. Extremely wide viewing angle. VGA cable for a PC comes in handy and looks amazing. PiP is a nice bonus feature, but the functionality could be better, it doesn't seem to work while in antenna mode. You can have PiP up while in the PC input, and see the tv image in the small screen, but you can't do it the other way around which is annoying. The TV swivels on its stand, making it easier to connect cables up. There's a cable card slot, which is nice but I haven't used yet. The remote is very long and narrow and waited funny, so it could be improved. Overall I love the TV, the only negatives I came up with are rather insignificant.

5 Star Review This Samsung TV is great

Strengths:

clarity, reception, style, ease of use

Weaknesses:

None really. The remote could be a little bigger.

Posted Jan 1, 2007 - We have only had this set for one week, but have been very impressed with it's quality. We are lucky and receive many, many stations in HD even though we are only using an antenna for now. The HD clarity is fantastic. The color is excellent and well-balanced. (We have not noticed a problem with greens that others have remarked on.) The unit is very stylish and sleek. It is fairly easy to program. So far, we are satisfied that we did not spend the extra for a Sony TV.

5 Star Review WOW

Strengths:

Looks, swivel stand, cable card, and HDMI cable capable.

Weaknesses:

Remote is not shaped to be functional.

Posted Dec 24, 2006 - The TV is beautiful to look at when it is on and also off. The picture is outstanding. The HDMI hook up is great for my DVD recorder/player. The swivel stand makes the viewing and hook up very convenient. The cable card gives me what I really wanted and saves the monthly rental on the cable box. The remote is not comfortable to hold and the buttons are on the small side. I have not been able to program the remote to operate my Toshiba DVR. I'm very happy with this unit overall.

5 Star Review Best HDTV picture on the market!!!

Strengths:

Great picture; Easy setup; Lots of inputs (even USB 1.1); Great price vs. Sony

Weaknesses:

Very basic sound

Posted Jan 19, 2007 - I love this TV. I bought it from Vanns.com and you can not beat their price and customer service. It was shipped free with Harmony 659 Universal Control and Samsung Nexus 25 satelite radio player. What a deal!!! It has a great picture when watching HDTV channels, especially with Over-The-Air HDTV signal. Standard channels look same as on my 6 year old Sony TV. One thing you must upgrade is the sound which is very basic and week compared to other models I saw in my local electronic store. I bought one piece surround system by Sharp, which is great and I really like now watching movies with simulated surround sound. PIP functionality is limited, so if you care for it you won't be satisfied. If you want to enjoy you DVD home collection and have the best picture (1080P quality) add a High Definition Up-Converting DVD Player with HDMI.

5 Star Review Very nice TV

Strengths:

Sharp picture, good blacks. Product looks good as well.

Weaknesses:

None yet.

Posted Mar 15, 2007 - This great looking monitor works well both for PC's and for DVD/TV viewing. The 1920x1080 resolution is very good. Good blacks for an LCD and wide viewing angle. The monitor itself is also asthetically pleasing. Lots of inputs (HDMI, CableCard, etc) and decent remote.

5 Star Review Great Picture

Strengths:

Clarity, You don't need a magnifiying glass to see it.

Weaknesses:

None that I have found yet.

Posted Jan 13, 2007 - Awesome TV. Definitely recommend this TV to people looking to buy top of the line. The menu options on the TV are great and easy to use. Haven't used it for gaming yet, but can't wait to try it.

5 Star Review Samsung LN-S4096D

Strengths:

Excellent HD picture. Great contrast, viewing angle and brightness.

Weaknesses:

SD picture could be better.

Posted Jan 9, 2007 - 2xHDMI ports will both accept PC DVI input (requires HDMI to DVI adaptor) and look great at 1080p! Using VGA port also looks good. HD channels from broadcast looks very good and tuner gets fairly good reception with HD antenna (better than with the same antenna on others). SD picture could have used a little bit more effort on the conversion for display though. The remote is nearly identical to the Samsung Blu-Ray player...slim and usable. Stand pivots for easy access to cables in back. Optical digital output is provided on the back as well. Very lightweight for its size (can be wall-mounted with an appropriate bracket). It has a blue light in the bottom bar that can be distracting (and annoying at night) but can also be turned off.

3 Star Review Samsung LN-S4096D 40

Strengths:

Picture strength & Brightness

Weaknesses:

Non-HDTV picture quality

Posted Dec 27, 2006 - This product is sold on the strength if its HD picture quality, which is considerable. However, with the average viewer depending on non-HD channels for the majority of their viewing, the picture quality of these channels could have been achieved by spending much less on another set.

5 Star Review Best HDTV for the price

Strengths:

15000:1 contract with 120Hz and at a great price. The black looks like black and it's light weight. We have this one for your bedroom. Works great with Video Gaming like the Wii also.

Weaknesses:

Setting up best color setup. I wish there were 3 default settings instead of 3 presets.

Posted Feb 9, 2008 - Having spend 4 months before getting a SAMSUNG HDTV on the last Sat. before Xmas in 2007, was quite a challenge. Just got this HDTV for about 2 months and it has been great so far. There's a few challenges in learning the remote but setting up the right color combination. After playing with it, I was able to figure about pretty much everything. I recommend this one. We looks thru many of ones, SONY, SAMSUNG, LG (not good quality), Phillips and Panasonic. Advantage over Sony for contract and USB firmware upgradeable. You can get new features if new menus or options came about if it has this USB combination. Some of Sharps has this USB options also.

5 Star Review Samsung LCD TV 40"

Strengths:

Excellent picture and better value when compare with similar TV of different brands such as Sony. Light enough to be hanged on the wall or set it on the table.

Weaknesses:

Too small for bigger areas like a basement

Posted Apr 2, 2007 - I will recommend others to purchase this product if they are looking for the convenient of having a TV with the best quality picture in the market (1080) and a much lower price than other brands. Also it is great when looking for saving space in a living room.
