This Plasma Rocks!

Started Aug 24, 2006

Strengths: Excellent Picture, All Black Case, Takes 1080p Signal, 10,000 to 1 Contrast Ratio, Great Sound

Weaknesses: Expensive......But worth the extra money.

This is in my opinion the best 50" Plasma TV on the market. I did a lot of research for around a year before I decided on this one. Panasonic is good, but the picture on the Pioneer is definitely superior. The all black bezel makes it easier to watch, just like in the movie theatres. This one can actually take the 1080p signal and convert it to 1080i. I think Pioneer is the only one doing that at this point. The speakers actually sound really good also (unlike other TV's). This came out of the box with the stand already attached. I paid around $4,000 for this one. If this is in your budget, get it. If it is not....remember most people will keep the same TV for 15 years.....make it happen.

I am confused--you said that the Pioneer converted 1080p to 1080i. Isn't that backwards? I am new to all of this resolution business so I would appreciate an explanation. Thanks.

That's awesome. I'm thinking about getting this TV myself but a friend of mine thinks LCD's are better. I disagree. I was looking at the Best Buy where I live. I also wasn't sure if I should get the Product Service Plan or not because it's an extra $400. What do you think? I know it's a good TV but I still am not sure how long it will last and how may repairs (if any, hopefully not) it will need. I thought I'd ask someone that has had it for more than a few months like you. Please let me know.
