5 Star Review Incredible quality XBR engine

Strengths:

2 HDMI inputs 2 HDMI inputs 2 HDMI inputs,Picture Quality, Swivel Pedestal,

Weaknesses:

none

Posted May 4, 2007 - This is a wonderful TV! The LCD has the same 1080p resolution as the XBR. Who really wants a heavy floating glass frame around the screen of their TV? And if you place your TV on a stand, the swivel pedestal is a must!

5 Star Review KDL-46V2500 BRAVIA 46" LCD TV (1080p)

Strengths:

This is an awesome TV! Picture quality is excellent, and the TV looks great in my living room.

Weaknesses:

NONE

Posted May 12, 2007 - Upgraded from a 27" CRT and am (obviously) very impressed. This is a very user-friendly television. I did a great deal of competitive research before deciding on this TV, and would recommend it to anyone! In my opinion, this is top-of-the-line!

5 Star Review Very pleased with our KDL-46V2500 Bravia LCD TV

Strengths:

Great picture quality which can be viewed from any angle and anywhere in the room, regardless of room lighting.

Weaknesses:

Relatively slow advancement through the various TV inputs on the remote control.

Posted Feb 27, 2008 - We purchased this LCD widescreen television in November 2007. I was at first reluctant to spend this much on a television, but after using the television for nearly three months, we have absolutely no regrets! The picture is amazing. And the 1080 HD quality on sporting events (assuming you have HD programming) is even better. We have used our television for video games--including Wii and PS3--DVD movies, old VHS movies, and normal television viewing. As I've already said, the picture quality is amazing. We use normal sound for viewing television, and then we have it hooked up to a surround sound amplifier and speakers for watching movies. That's almost too much! The only "weakness" we have discovered is that it seems like it takes too long to scroll between inputs when using the remote control. I think I may try a harmony universal remote to see if this makes it easier to switch between inputs. My family is very pleased with this product and have no trouble recommending this Bravia television, which is on the lower end of the Sony line.

5 Star Review Awsome

Strengths:

Great Picture, Easy setup

Weaknesses:

Basic Remote

Posted Nov 28, 2007 - I purchased the Sony 46" 1080P HDTV during Black Friday sales. The TV appears designed for a stand than for mounting - Swivel pedestal and Buttons on top (great if you have kids at home). I connected the basic antenna and was able to pick up more than 8 channels in HD (3 in 1080i). The SD channels were not too bad either. Once I connected the DVD (Samsung 1080P7), the picture blew my mind. The remote for the TV was basic. The TV is a little heavier than the competition (Sharp/Samsung). I found no LCD clouds on my TV, though that was the common reported problem.

5 Star Review OUTSTANDING LCD

Strengths:

EVERYTHING

Weaknesses:

NONE

Posted May 4, 2007 - I bought the April 07 production unit from Fry's and this LCD rocks. Perfect picture in everyway. Digital cable built in. So you can pick up all unscrambled digital cable channels without a hitch. No clouds at all.

1 Star Review Beautiful set with a fatal flaw

Strengths:

Amazing picture quality, tons of features and dual HDMI inputs on a true 1080p set

Weaknesses:

Cloudy blacks on LCD panel

Posted Dec 19, 2006 - This is an absolutely beautiful TV set and I would recommend it to everybody if not for its fatal flaw - an LCD panel with the worst case of "clouding" I've seen. The picture quality is amazing - the colors are vibrant, the screen is bright and large and HD programming is simply breathtaking. If not for the screen clouding, which appears on any black screen - i.e., credits, space scenes, whatever, and from any source (DVD, TV, or no source at all), I would happily recommend this TV. Unfortunately the screen clouding problem is just too big to ignore. While it would be nice if my problem were an isolated example, a Google search of "xbr clouding" demonstrates that many owners of both the v2500 sets and the XBR2 and XBR3 sets (that share the same panel as the v2500) are dealing with this clouding problem. I have contacted Sony, who claims they've never heard of the problem, and others have been told its normal (though people with the early production models of this set have no such problems). Bottom line: don't buy this set. It is a shame and I am stuck with mine, but you don't have to be.

5 Star Review "Best Picture" winner!

Strengths:

GREAT picture! And all eight inputs have independent picture adjustment. Four HD inputs (2 HDMI, 2 composite picture) allow us to connect everything we have.

Weaknesses:

We haven’t found any yet

Posted Apr 8, 2007 - We shopped for several months before selecting this product. The key factor was the picture – we wanted one that looked as natural as possible. Most display units are running the factory default settings, which tend toward oversaturated colors and very bright pictures. We were able to find a few stores where we could play with the picture settings. This product has an easy-to-use on-screen picture adjustment which allows us to get the picture “just right” without a lot of hassle. And it can be set differently for each of the 8 inputs. The picture quality sold us! Note: We have not seen the “cloudy black” problem mentioned by several of the other reviewers.

3 Star Review excellent tv, too bad about the cloud issue

Strengths:

1080p on two HDMI inputs, excellent color and picture quality, 1:1 pixel mapping for computer use

Weaknesses:

cloud issue, HDMI is not 1.3, wish the side inputs were 3rd HDMI instead of S-video

Posted Dec 20, 2006 - there are couple things i wish this tv had to make an excellent tv better. but there is one thing i wish this tv did not have: the clouds during dark scenes. . i would not steer people away from this set altogether, but i would throw up a huge yellow caution flag about the backlight/cloud issue. search for photos online of this issue. keep in mind that some sets are worse than others, and some don't have the issue at all. . make sure you buy from some place that has a very good return/exchange policy. you don't want to see this first hand and realize its a deal breaker for you. . solid four stars if this cloud issue were gone. solid 5 stars if clouds were gone AND this tv had HDMI 1.3 and/or another HDMI port on the side panel.

4 Star Review Great LCD TV

Strengths:

Good contrast 1080P

Weaknesses:

Cheap looking remote No HDMI connector on side or front No PIP

Posted Jun 6, 2007 - I've had this television almost two weeks now, and I haven't seen the "ghosting" or "clouds" others have noted. I have an April 2007 build date. The set is easy to configure, has intuitive menus, and an easy-to-use remote (although it is somewhat cheap looking). This is a much better value than the XBR 2 or 3. Only negatives are a lack of PIP and not enough inputs (HDMI and/or DVI) on the side or front for hookups to a computer.

5 Star Review Awesome TV

Strengths:

HD pic is outstanding menu screen is easy to navigate 8 video inputs

Weaknesses:

none yet

Posted Mar 10, 2007 - This TV is really outstanding. No clouds here. I can not believe how black the black is. My TV was manuf in Feb 2007 and i received it in March. Maybe only the early versions had a problem. The pic is stunning whether receiving an HD signal or just a digital signal. i cannot speak to how the TV receives an analog signal. The sound is fine. I decided on this set r/t the Samsung. I think it has a better picture and no glare off the trim. Bought it off the net and saved $600 over the local big boxes. This set is hundreds to thousands less than the XBR sets. Buy it!

4 Star Review Superb Picture, Incredible detail - A sunny day all the way

Strengths:

1080i produces great picture quality on HD channels. Enough inputs/outputs for mosts users, HDMI connects to Cable box

Weaknesses:

Sound hums slightly with Cablevision's HD SA box. Regular def channels vary in picture quality from great to average. Sound quality is not the greatest, but good.

Posted Feb 10, 2007 - I've had this set for 3 months now and love it. The picture is great on HD channels and I've looked hard for "clouds" but couldn't find any. Had a Vizio 46" LCD and its sound quality was better, probably because of the sub-woofer, but its picture quality was no comparison to the SONY's so I returned it. The detail on HD shows makes you feel as if you're right there. HD broadcast quality seems to vary and I've gotten spoiled by the better broadcasts. I've looked hard at multiple sets before I purchased the SONY and could not find a better looking picture. I had to view the sets in multiple stores to get a true feel for the stores' set up variations. I spotted the best picture before looking at the brand name and everytime it was the SONY. I considered the S2500 series, but the 1080p proved to be a significant improvement. I highly recommend this set. Surprisingly, the price has not dropped since I bought it on sale in November.

4 Star Review Sony KDL-46V2500 46

Strengths:

Quality

Weaknesses:

none

Posted Feb 3, 2008 - The is V-Series 1080p LCD HDTV. It features the 16:9 1080p HD Resolution Panel (1920 x 1080). The embeded ATSC Tuner allows you to watch the digital TV OTA or from the cable without an additional digital coverter box. If you have a hd-dvd or blueray dvd player, the two HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) ports are useful.
