Have not noticed any banding yet

Started Jan 18, 2007

Strengths: Beautiful 1080p picture. Capable speakers. Relatively affordable when compared to other 46 inch 1080p LCD sets.

Weaknesses: Not enough inputs. 2 HDMI / 2 Component / 1 S-Video / 1 Tuner. Would have liked more HDMI, and perhaps a DVI for PC. Pedestal height not adjustable.

Have not noticed any banding problems that many reviewers wrote about. The 1080p picture was absolutely beautiful. Used with PS3 1080p games and Blu-Ray movies. HD 1080i cable was on par with previous HD projection set. At a distance of 4 feet away, no pixels or motion blur can be seen. The built-in speakers are capable, but for a true surround experience, use a dedicated 5.1 setup.

Currently using 480p through HD component for DVD and Wii, 1080i through HDMI for HD Cable, and 1080p through HDMI for PS3, and already maxed out all the HD inputs. Could really use more HDMI inputs. Looking into either a HDMI switcher or a new receiver with HDMI up-convert capabilities.

You will need to set your TV mode to dot by dot. On the top portion of your remote there's a button called View Mode. Cycle through the options until you come to Dot by Dot for inputs 4 or 5.

At this time, turn on your PS3, connected to RCA on input 3, and HDMI on input 4 or 5.

Using RCA cables, begin PS3 setup, go to Video Settings and select HDMI, then Automatic resolution selection.

Thats how I set it up, hope that helps you.

i just tried the Dot by dot. it did not make a difference. on the top right when i was testing 1080p resolution, it said 1080i at first. then in one second it switched to 1080p. which made the screen all fuzzy dots.. still cant figure this thing out>

To do the video settings I used both sets of cables. First I selected Input 3 for RCA, and then after specifying the video source as HDMI in video settings, I then switched over to the HDMI input.

Thats all I did to change the video settings, as the PS3 automatically adjusted the picture to suit the connection.

Maybe change the HDMI cable or try again on some other tv?
