This TV is very good. Very good picture quality very...

Strengths: The picture quality. And I also love the Picture by Picture (PBP) I could watch one show and play a video game. It is rad

Weakness: The remote sucks you should buy a $10 universal remote like me.

The TV is awesome great picture quality no dead pixels. In HD it is a very good pictue. It comes with a wall mount which is awesome.

Works now... but what later???

Strengths: great picture, great sound, sleek

Weakness: see below...

I got this TV for Christmas and so far I love it. I have read some reviews on other websites that people's tvs stopped turning on after a year, so I would recommend really evaluating your TV before the 1 year warranty is done. Mine sometimes will act like it doesn't want to turn on, but luckily with a type A personality, I figured out all you have to do is hit all the buttons on the front really fast and it will turn on somehow!! Keep up with how long you have had the TV and when the warranty is up!!

Excellent value

Strengths: picture quality, response time, build quality

Weakness: remote

Purchased from pcconnection for $579.00 (with free shipping). Good luck finding a better quality tv for the price - contrast ratio 1200:1, 8 ms response time, pip (including the ability to watch tv and work on the computer side-by-side), hdmi input, glossy black finish, and wall mount included. Hooked it up to my Directv receiver and had amazing picture quality right out of the box. Note to the wise, however: if you're watching standard definition TV, I find it best to leave it in the 4:3 format. Also, it's my experience that rebates take at least 6-8 weeks, so I'd ignore that compaint.

Bought this TV 6 month ago from MicroCenter. Send warranty card back to Astar.

my TV Astar is now broken. Calling Astar at 877-851-2528 , 100% of the time night and day is a voice mail, in which the mailbox is always full. Calling 626-851-2579 and nobody picks up the phone. Sending email to customer support, nobody reply.

This is a junk company, do not buy its product.

i also bought an astar, and it is the WORST tv i have ever bought in my life. i have had the tv for 1year 5months, and it has needed to be repaired 4 (four) times already. and when i first got the tv i paid almost $1000 dollars for it. i have been trying to get back in touch with the company, but to no avail, because needless to say, the tv doesnt work again

most bang for the buck

Strengths: great picture and excellent manufacturer service. pcmall is great!!!!

Weakness: returned the first one since it was sparking from the back. exchanged and the new one is greatttt!!!!

if you don't want to spend over a grand on a tv this is the way to go. although i had trouble with the first tv. pcmall exchanged with a new one. and the manufacturer's customer service has never been better. rather than the syntax and emerex (Cheap cheap model) astar is the way to go.

Astar BabyGrand LTV-32HBG 32" LCD TV - 16:9

Strengths: AV Inputs, HDTV Tuner bult-in

Weakness: doesn't work properly, poor SD quality

For SD the quality is quite poor, with too much mosaic images. Works best as 1/2 zoom , as a great feature.

However the unit doesn't turn on easily. It also turn off and back on automatically. Trying to contact customer support.

From 10 times trying to turn on, only 1 or 2 worked fine, but for 2 or 3 minutes and was automatically turned off and on again.

Need to find some way to put to work.

Great for the Price

Strengths: Picture quality, built-in HD tuner with guide, plethora of inputs.

Weakness: Slow menus

I must say first off, I have only had this tv for one day. However, I am very pleased with the purchase. I bought it form pcconnection and received the item within 4days of order. It came in perfect condition, no dead pixels. I haven't checked all the inputs yet, but it worked fine and looks great as a monitor for the computer through vga input and tv looks fine on it.

I hooked up my hd antenna and it found the channels in my area no problem, everything was bright, clear and sharp. The guide feature is also nice, it lets you see what is coming up on the current station while shrinking the screen down in the corner, similar to directv receivers. However, I may be wrong, but I don't think there is a way to veiw multiple channel listings for one time at the same time, only multiple times on one station.

The black levels on the television are good for an LCD, and light distribution seems even, no bright spots. There are three settings for the backlight (dark, middle, bright) as well as the normal brightness settings for the picture. I use directv, non-hd, and don't have a problem with the screen being stretched to 16:9 from 4:3, i think it looks fine, however it can run at 4:3 or zoom the 16:9 stretch to 1/8x, 1/4x, 1/2x, 1x, 2x, 4x, or 8x. It also allows picture on picture, picture by picture and pbp stretched to fill the whole screen.

After only one day I'm very happy with the set, I only wish that the guide would display multiple channel listings at once for HD. The remote others have complained about seems to work fine, but the menus are a little slow, that may be the problem they see, and the tuner is slow when changing between hd channels. For the price this tv can't be beat. Also, for those interested it seems to draw ~130w without sound with the backlight at medium. And a last note, the speakers are detachable and bring the unit from 42" wide to 32" wide when removed.

I bought this from pcconnection.com with a rebate. I don't know if they are still offering this, the rebate actually came from astar themselves. I mailed in the information just after purchase and did FINALLY receive the rebate at the end of July, almost 4 months later but it come eventually.

Bad on every level

Strengths: None.

Weakness: No image and then customer service runaround.

I order this TV after comparing it with the other cheapy brands MacMall sells. It seemed to stand up to them all on specifications so I took a chance and purchased. So far it seems like the wrong move.

The monitor arrived today and after taking the time to set it up nicely and correctly, I turn it on and watch nothing. No picture, no display settings, no input settings. I only confirmed it was actually on because I heard the sound from 1 of my 3 inputs. The remote was completely ineffective and I had to press the monitor buttons very forcefully to go blind input searching.

I call Astar who accidentally answered the phone (since the next two times I called they were smart enough to not answering). After a 1 minute accessment that the monitor was broken the Astar rep tells me I can call MacMall and get an exchange or he can recommend a service technician in my area. All I have to do is say that Astar referred me and show them the receipt.

I take the service tech's number and call them, naturally they have to take the model #, serial # and all my info and double check it with Astar and then they'll call me back and schedule an appointment, which won't be for a week or so.

I call MacMall. First person says I have to talk to Tech Support and then Customer Service. 10 minutes on hold and Tech Support takes 6 minutes to pull up my info and write that the TV is broken. He puts me on hold for 3 minutes to transfer me to Customer Service who pick up fairly quickly (1 minute more on hold). That speed is apparently because they can't do anything. "On a display of this size" the customer service rep has to have a Sales Director's approval to process an exchange. Naturally, he left for the day at 4:00 PM PST!! The Customer Service Rep is going to forward my info to him and someone will get back to me tomorrow.

I'm extraordinarily angry. Buy the Sharp, it's got to be better.

Very Upset

Strengths: none

Weakness: quite a few

Problems right out of the box. None of the controls on the front of the TV work, and the volume immediately goes to full volume and can't be turned down. The remote is also of very poor quality.

Weakness: The entire TV

Received mine yesterday, 3/02/07 DOA. Not only was the unit completely dead but the overall appearance and quality is cheap looking. Definitely would not reccomend.

I am loving it

Strengths: Everything...it brings everything you need out of the box...easy to setup...got many differents type of input, analogs and digital...

Weakness: menu is slow, but it is ok after you get used to it...if you are a sub of DTV you can see that the menu in their boxes is slow too...

I found everything great....some people review that it do not turn on after receiving it...you know what, you are the ones that made something wrong, why, because you can never buy something electronic and let it get bring to your home by another people, always take it with you in your car or truck or van...those people do not work fine with electronics, they always treat electronics in a bad way and sometimes they broke them, but they will never get accused or accept that they were the ones, so what you will do is say that the manufacturer is the bad one....hey it brings a wall mount...great thing...no need to use more money...and it got from 480 to 1080i resolution...not 720...I will recommend it to everyone, but take it yourself, do not let that those people take it to your home...

You could buy it on your own risk

Strengths: Cheap price, does not need additional wall mount

Weakness: 1. TV selfchaged input mode. every day I look for remote to fix it. 2.It also turn off and back self 3. After 6 month Rebate check was received but check bounced ASTAR did not respond.

If you ready to pay full price , do it.
Cheap cheap model.
Sound poor.
Make a copy all your rebate paper.
ASTAR loose it , and you would have to fax copy.
Definitely would not reccomend.
