5 Star Review SHARP LC-52D92U 52

Strengths:

Fantastic Picture

Weaknesses:

None

Posted Sep 11, 2007 - I have had the tv for 2 months now and love it more every time I watch it. The picture is absolutely the best I have seen anywhere and the HD is absolutely mind-blowing! It worked right out of the box and was perfect with the factory defaults on all the settings. I will purchase another Sharp when I buy again.

5 Star Review Fantastic TV

Strengths:

great contrast ratio, amazing picture quality, fast response time, 3 HDMI, detachable speaker.

Weaknesses:

none

Posted Jul 6, 2007 - This is a great TV. Its contrast ratio is amazing, as well as the picture quality. It shows off the clarity. 4ms response time gives you fast motion without any flaws. I recommend this TV to everyone.

5 Star Review worth the wait

Strengths:

better picture than the 62U and better refresh rate, beutiful picture especially on hd channels

Weaknesses:

price but being the newest version will come down

Posted Mar 2, 2007 - left most of the factory settings. got it up on the wall and could not get the sound to come on, forgot to install the speaker! saw the 46" 92U and the 62U together at the same time and wow what a difference the 92u has a much better picture than the 62U, plasma like quality. I waited three weeks longer for the 92U to come in and it was worth the wait!

5 Star Review Sharp Aquos LC-52D92U

Strengths:

Beautiful styling; fantastic picture, especially on HD broadcasts; detachable speakers; multiple inputs.

Weaknesses:

Somewhat difficult to program and calibrate. Expensive but worth it!

Posted Apr 12, 2007 - Thoroughly researched plasma and LCD sets, both online, and in several big box and boutique electronic stores. Was leaning towards a Panasonic plasma, but liked the cleaner colors and lighter weight of LCD's, and wanted full 1080p. Narrowed it down to Sony and Sharp as the two leaders. Had about decided on a Sony Bravia (already own two smaller Sony LCD's) when the Aquos 92U was released, a product of Sharp's vaunted new flat screen factory. I opted for the "latest technology", and although pricy, feel this set is fabulous and a cut above the rest.

5 Star Review Awesome TV

Strengths:

Non HD programing quality and contrast level are the best I have ever seen.

Weaknesses:

None I can see yet.

Posted May 1, 2007 - I have always been a Sony user and my last two HDTV's where Sony. I not only saved a lot of money with this purchase, I have never been happier with the quality. The non HD programming I get from Comcast looks like HD on this set. I am glad I spent the extra money on the "92" model because I believe that is what made all the difference. This is a spectacular TV.

5 Star Review BEST EVER

Strengths:

Huge, great picture quality, awesome contrast, Blacker than black blacks... 3 HDMI ports

Weaknesses:

NONE, wait... can't figure out how to hook up my old school nintendo on this. I wanna play duckhunt!

Posted Apr 10, 2007 - After much research I finally decided on this LCD. I almost bought the 62U but the extra 600 bucks was well worth it. They fixed all the problems in the previous model and apparently the contrast and blacks are even better than before. I paid 3k for it, but it was well worth it... especially since Best buy is chargind 5k. HD channels are amazing... along with the new verizon Fios... wow. I've only had it for a short time but I def. made the right choice. Even the salesman said it was the best TV they sold. The viewing angles are great too, we have a second sofa that is off to the side, still looks awesome. Xbox 360 looks sweet on it too. If this is in your list of options, buy it!

5 Star Review Sharp LCD Rocks

Strengths:

4ms response time, twice as fast as the Sony & Samsung even receives 1080p broadcast

Weaknesses:

Still a bit pricy

Posted Mar 1, 2007 - What a great set, all the hookups you need and really great response times with a native 3000:1 contrast ratio. I don't know what I was waiting for. Of course, if it was #2,000.00 I would be happier but it is better priced than all the competitors and performs better.

5 Star Review LOVE IT!

Strengths:

Great price; Breathtaking picture; Beautiful colors

Weaknesses:

Slow remote

Posted May 9, 2007 - Sharp lc52d92u tv was delivered in 8 days from NJ to TX in a strong box with styrofoam for protection.Attaching the stand and speakers, plugging it into ac, cable box, and dvr produced a terrific picture with no dead pixels or banding(serial 701xxxxx).The manual shows easy to understand options and adjustments available for individual tastes. The response of the remote is slower than my old RCA analog, but i got used to it quickly. The shiny ,black, narrow frame fit nicely into my decor. The price was $1000 to$1500 less than local stores.I would buy this tv again.

5 Star Review Great TV

Strengths:

3 HDMI inputs, Full 1080p, No banding or ghosting, TONS of inputs, Optical light sensor. GREAT blacks.

Weaknesses:

Useless Remote, Speakers could have been better, No PIP (not a big issue), slow switching between inputs.

Posted Oct 19, 2007 - For the price, this TV is excellent investment, where ever you buy it. I have not noticed any banding issues with it whatso ever. The initial TV setting out of the box needs a little tuning, depending on your personal taste (like contrast and color....extremely easy). The HD picture looks simply jaw dropping. I say this because I connected a PS3 to it and played a Blue ray disc at full 1080p.Regular TV (Digital) looks good on this TV too, but not upclose due to the resolution (not the TV's fault). The speakers could have been a little better, but they are ok none the less. Speakers are loud enough and do simulated Surround. The black border on the TV really makes it look very sleek. I have tried the light sensor on this TV and it works great. There are 2 optical light sensors on the front panel and they detect the amount of light in the room and adjust the brightness accordingly. You have to ENABLE this feature in the Menu. I tried this at night and than put a flashlight in front of the sensor and it adjusted the screen contract and brightness. One thing you have to remember when you get a mount for this TV is that it does not have the edge mounts, but rather the mounts are very close to the center of the TV. This is NON ISSUE when mounting, but if you plan to TILT the TV too often then you will need to shove your arm all the way to the center of back of TV to losen the screw. Most people dont tilt their TV's more than a couple of times a year.....just for minor adjustments. I have trouble peeling myself off the couch when I am watching this TV :)

5 Star Review worth every penny

Strengths:

Easy setup. Great picture quality. Plenty of inputs.

Weaknesses:

It runs rather warm (328 watts or so). On a cold winter night I guess that’s not a bad thing. When used, headset jack doesn’t cut off the speakers, so what’s the use? No PIP.

Posted Sep 7, 2007 - This TV is well worth the money. Analog programs, as you would suspect, have the least picture quality, but it’s o.k. Digital programming is much better. But HD is just plain jaw dropping gorgeous! All HD content is stunning regardless if its sports, news, or the Tonight Show. Football games, holy cow, it’s like being in the stadium—beautiful. I found that regular component cables do just as good a job on this set as HDMI cables. I bought the HDMI cable and the picture was exactly the same using the cheapo component cables that came with the HD cable box from Brighthouse. So save your money. This TV is not really hard to set up. I haven’t looked in the manual yet (o.k., I did peak a few times). Overall, I’m very happy with this set.

1 Star Review If you want a clean picture, AVOID THIS SET

Strengths:

Great Contrast Ratio; Great Refrest Rate; Solid performance all around

Weaknesses:

Ghosting still present; BANDING!! Banding is a dark stripe that runs through the set, both horizontal and vertical. The end result is a dark plaid like pattern laid over every picture you ever watch.

Posted Jun 6, 2007 - This set would be a great purchase if not for all of its highly noticeable flaws. If you are new to the HD area, or just not too picky in quality then this set would make a great purchase, as the price is relatively low for the size and resolution. If however you want a pristine picture and have enjoyed HD before, the flaws out-weigh all the strengths presented on this set.

5 Star Review Outstanding!

Strengths:

Picture is amazing. I find myself watching things i never watched before. Discovery HD, COPS, and a lot more.

Weaknesses:

I really had no idea that non HD channels suck this bad. Non-HD channels are not even watchable. i have the sports package to watch the YES channel and yankees, they games are not in HD in my network.

Posted Sep 30, 2007 - People have made post or complaints about the speakers, i think the speakers are GREAT! Very loud and sounds like surround. I went to a tv warehouse and there were no sharps there, just mitsubishi, sony, and samsungs. i asked the salesman if he had any sharps and he said no hardly ever because "people don't return sharps"!!! that said it all for me to make this decision. the black edge that surrounds the screen makes it look Sharp!!!
