High contrast ratios and fast response times, mean rapid-action viewing such as sporting events or adventure films is displayed with super clarity and truly come alive! With a super-wide 178-degree viewing angle, images look spectacular wherever you are seated. Perfect for home or office viewing These LCD HDTVs also excel as computer displays with support for TV resolutions up to 1080i, and PC resolutions up to 1360 x 768 through HDMI and VGA. Olevia's surround sound audio processor creates an awesome listening environment while watching TV, movies or playing games. RS-232 control enables you to connect your Olevia HDTV to a home entertainment system. Once you see the new Olevia, you'll agree that you've never seen HDTV like this! minimize

4 Star Review Great TV! Great Price!

Strengths:

Beautiful picture, vivid colors. My DVD collection never looked so good!!

Weaknesses:

Would've preferred instructions in paper-form rather than on a CD. Also the speakers are good, but Bass begins to distort when you pass the halfway point in Bass menu.

Posted Mar 28, 2007 - I searched for months for a television this size at a price that was reasonable. I was able to find this television on pricegrabber.com for an awesome total price! It arrived within four days which also made me very happy and ready to glue myself to the remote. So far, so good!

4 Star Review 437v

Strengths:

The price is the most attractive. Video quality is great for the price.

Weaknesses:

The tuner is slow. The screen menu settings do not use any numbers.

Posted Apr 11, 2007 - This is a good TV for the price. It is not as thin as other LCDs, but that is not a problem at all. The tuner is slow when changing channels. It takes a few seconds for it to turn on as well. I still like the price for this size of LCD.

5 Star Review Great LCD TV

Strengths:

picture quality, set up right out the box, PRICE, feature set, feature/future upgradable, size, pleanty of source inputs, good speaker sound, good blacks and good whites for an LCD, HDMI

Weaknesses:

Cheap buttons and paint job, o.k. flesh tones, side distortion on panoramic view, tech support

Posted Jan 31, 2007 - I just purchased this television. This is my 1st LCD above 20". I had looked at several other LCDs and actually ordered a Samsung but ended up cancelling the order because of the merchant not the brand. I was flipping thru channles 1 nite when I came across shopnbc and Syntax was giving a demonstration for the Olevia 437V. Mostly no big box stores carry Olevia and I knew that it had to be a good brand if ESPN were using them and had a deal with them. I had originally looked at Syntax but was a little sceptical. The Syntax demo really impressed me so I ordered the TV from ShopNBC and cancelled the order for the Samsung with the merchant from HECK! I am glad I made that choice because this TV is GREAT. It was easy to hook up right out the box. The onscreen menus are intuitive I haven't even cracked open the user's manual yet. The picture is beautiful for DVDs. I am upgrading my cable box to take full advantage of the 720p resolution. The price was great ($900 with $100 rebate). My MAC is hooked up to it also and it looks great even though it's a Mac Mini. Video games look great. I was fairly supprised that the blacks were good as well as the white balances. I love that I can upgrade it myself as far as firmware is concerned. I was also surpised that the speakers were pretty good. Had heard horror stories about sound quality on LCDs. A little disappointed about the buttons though. They are obviously cheap (2 were mashed in when we got it out the box)and flimsy. Also the paint on the lower half was scratched. Called customer service about this and they just kept ringing. But someone picked up for the extended service warranty department. Overall I am glad that this is my 1st LCD. I stayed up all night just trying out different types of movies to test this set - Matrix, FF7: Advent Children, Carnivale, Superman Returns, Indiana Jones, Lady in the Water, Samurai 7: The Anime Series. They all looked great and helped me to adjust the set to handle any type of dvd picture and thereby helped with the adjustments to regular tv picture as well. Can't wait to pick up my new cable box tonight to get an even better picture. I'm hosting the family Super Bowl Party this year and they will be WOWED!! By the way I'm a woman and it is heartening to find electronics I can say I love. I'm buying another Olevia next month for my bedroom.

5 Star Review A great LCD TV for the PC and DVD Player!

Strengths:

Positives: I just bought the Olevia 437 LCD TV for $899.99. I am using it for my PC monitor. I have a GeForce 7600GT Video Card with a DVI output. I am using a HDMI adapter and a HDMI cable to connect

Weaknesses:

Negatives: I do find the lack of an instruction booklet annoying. Instead they give you an instruction CD with Adobe Reader which you can print out. The actual system for adjusting the TV by way of th

Posted Jan 7, 2007 - However, all told the Olevia 437 was a great upgrade buy for me from a 26” LCD. No dead pixels and the remote is adequate. I also own another Olevia - a 26" HVE LCD TV for over a year now and I've had no problems with that set either. I did consider the 32” Samsung LN3238D LCD TV which had a contrast ratio of 3000:1 and two HDMI imputs and was three dollars less than the Olevia 437, but the massive image on this 37” Olevia screen won me over. Microsoft Word never looked so good when typing and surfing the web is just awesome and I really get feeling of being at the movies with this big screen.

4 Star Review Great LCD tv for the dollar

Strengths:

built in hdtv tuner, great for ps3 usage, decent amount of inputs. handles black well for lcd.

Weaknesses:

poor volume from speakers, one more hdmi connection would be better.

Posted Mar 18, 2007 - i was in the market for a new lcd tv. my last one was decent, but nothing compared to the bargain for this 37" gem. i had a 20" sharp, which was great for monitor and tv. however, i needed something larger for regular use, so my son could watch his shows and i could really put the ps3 to the test. i looked around for pricing and features. i wanted something with a built in hdtv tuner, since i hate depending upon cable boxes or satellite receivers. i recently decided to cancel cable, since it made little sense to pay for so much when no one was watching much television. anyhow, the built-in tuner will work well with our hdtv antenna. overall, i am very impress with the image quality for the price. compared to the 20" sharp, i no longer have to settle for widescreen on a fullscreen display. in addition, i no longer need to have all the lights off and the shades pulled when i use our old dlp wall projector. we still use the dlp projector for movies, but having this lcd really saves on energy cost and light bulb life. i would recommend this unit for anyone wanting a bargin large screen lcd tv.

3 Star Review Dead on Arrival - purchased from Buy.com

Strengths:

Great HD picture.

Weaknesses:

Remote Control codes for Olevia not available for most universal remote controls. 10 second delay for TV to power-on. Switching between HD channels and SD channels results in a 3sec signal delay.

Posted 1 year ago - Unfortunately, the unit did not power-on on setup. Contacted Olevia Tech Support and was advised to return the television. I was given a UPS shipping label for return shipment to Olevia. Did not receive a replacement set until 30 days after I shipped the unit. The new one works well except for weaknesses noted above.

Thank you for the valuable feedback!

4 Star Review Using this for over a year. Reasonable price for good 37.

Strengths:

•Reasonable price for 37’ inch LCD TV with comparably high quality and costlier, double the price LCD TVs •Picture quality of 780P and 1080i signals are astonishing where as analog signal is ok.

Weaknesses:

•Do not have a built-in upscalar. •Flimsy remote. One of my remote buttons are stated to dead almost. Need to buy universal remote for better functionality. •On screen menu is not user friendly.

Posted Dec 14, 2007 - I bought this 437v for $699 + tax with a $200 mail in rebate. Now it’s available for $599 – $650. It’s been over 14 months and I am a happy user. This particular model uses MTK MDDIT Video Processing chip, which is best among the video processing chips used by other Olivia models. I have bought this model specifically for this chip. Looks wide and great. Zoom facility is good for viewing Analog cable channels in full screen, but the subtitles will be cut-off partially, if they come in the bottom portion of the screen. No dead pixels or not able to find any. I have three more friends who bought the same model after looking at mine. I have used this for mainly watching Cable TV, as LCD monitor for my laptop, watching movies played in laptop/ DVD player and some basic gaming. Used HDMI, VGA, Component cable and S-video inputs. HDMI is best. No ghosting when playing games but some time the screen may clutter while playing games or when the cable signal input is weak. I have to call my cable provider to correct the issue of screen cluttering due cable signal fault. The cable guy told me the signal strength was weak. Do not hesitate to buy a Olevia brand LCD, if you get one for bargaining price. Check the reviews for the media chip set used by the particular model before buying. •The regular DVD movies from a 780P, 1080i up-scaling DVD player using HDMI are great. Got compliments from my friends. •Over all build quality is good. Not much assembling required after removing the box. •Easily wall mountable. •Easy firmware upgradeable. Look for latest firmware. After an upgrade my picture quality improved. Only one HDMI input, Incase you have more than one HDMI input devices, need to buy HDMI switching box. Little bulky compared to other costlier models. The edges of LCD panel are little brighter than center of panel when there is blank black screen.

4 Star Review 437v - Amazing TV & Excellent Price

Strengths:

Amazing clarity, Superb sound effects,HD Effect is great

Weaknesses:

Instructions on CD,Channel change takes time

Posted Sep 16, 2007 - I got this great TV at an amazing price.Earlier I had a 42" Syntax Olevia but even though the size is small I am quite satisfied with this product. The HD Tuner helps me get the HD Channels at ease.May it be for watching DVD or Cable TV,I made the right choice to buy this great TV.

5 Star Review Great TV

Strengths:

Great Picture, easy to set up, lots of connection ports, HDMI, HD Tuner, Great sound out of original speakers

Weaknesses:

CD Manuel, Very Slow channel changes, Takes a long time to turn on

Posted May 8, 2007 - I love this TV! It has excellent picture! I got this TV from office depot. It was there last one in stock and they were trying to get rid of it because their new models were coming in. I got it for $699.99 which i thought was a great buy! It has great sound! I don't like the CD manual and the channel changes are slow, but it is an overall great TV. With the built in HD tuner, it picks up an HD channel that we don't have to pay for from our cable provider.

Thank you for the valuable feedback!
