Sharp's 37" LC-37D62U is the perfect HDTV for viewers who care more about quality than quantity. It's great news for those with space-challenged home theaters — the picture is so clear and razor-sharp that you can sit really close. The sleek and slender LC-37D62U is also compact enough for an office or den, and it makes a fantastic bedroom TV. minimize

5 Star Review LC37D62U

Strengths:

Easy setup. Great picture quality. Plenty of inputs.

Weaknesses:

Weaknesses: It runs rather warm. When used, headset jack doesn’t cut off the speakers, so what’s the use? No PIP. However, you may be able to get PIP through an HD DVR from your cable provider.

Posted Sep 14, 2007 - This LC37D62U TV is well worth the money. Analog programs, as you would suspect, have the least picture quality, but it’s o.k. Digital programming is much better. But HD is just plain jaw dropping gorgeous! All HD content is stunning regardless if its sports, news, or the Tonight Show. Football games, holy cow, it’s like being in the stadium—beautiful. I found that component cables do just as good a job on this set as HDMI cables. I bought the HDMI cable and the picture quality was exactly the same using the generic component cables that came with the HD cable box from Brighthouse. So save your money unless you desire the convenience of 1 HDMI cable versus 5 component/audio cables. This TV is not really hard to set up. I have kept most of the factory setting. Overall, I’m very happy with this set. I have this set in my bedroom but I also own the Sharp Aquos LC-52D92U 52" LCD TV for my living room.

3 Star Review its ok

Strengths:

great hd picture

Weaknesses:

sound, i hear popping once and awhile from the set,i think its from the heat the set throws off,the plastic must be making the noise.. scrolls at the bottom of the picture look distorted

Posted Oct 2, 2007 - all in all the tv is ok, but i expected alot more from sharp, the SD pictures look fuzzy and blurred at times..i would recommend the Toshiba 1080p over the Sharp

1 Star Review I Thought Sharp Products Were So Good Until I bought One

Strengths:

It's pretty and has a nice picture.

Weaknesses:

Sound won't lock onto some digital channels.

Posted 1 year ago - I bought a new LC37D62U. It's a nice looking TV, but mine won't lock onto the audio of two local digital channels. The sound cuts in and out continuously. Sharp customer service was unable to diagnose the problem, so they dispatched a local authorized repair shop. The repair shop says the problem is a known glitch in the Sharp firmware and cannot be resolved until sharp updates their firmware. I've tired different antennas, other digital tuners in the house have no problems. Sharp says their tuner just doesn't work like other tuners and blames a "handshake" problem due to the local broadcaster. They got the part about their tuner not working right. Bottom line, new TV, does not perform with local broadcasters, guess I'll have to move, be happy being able to receive most stations or buy another TV. If I buy a new TV, it won't be a Sharp!

5 Star Review Sharp LC37D62U AQUOS 37” High Definition 1080P LCD TV

Strengths:

Great picture, especially with HDTV signal.

Weaknesses:

Picture is as good as the quality of the signal. Programs broadcast in standard definition don't always look that great on this TV. So, the weakness is that networks need to increase their offerings!

Posted Apr 13, 2008 - I've owned this product for almost three months, and now it's time to write the review... This is a wonderful TV. I purchased this as an HDTV upgrade that would fit in my expensive cabinet that would only accommodate a 37" set. I considered models by Sony, Sharp and Samsung, settling on this one because it looked the best to me. I receive my programming from Verizon FIOS, which offers an excellent, razor-sharp signal. The programs that are broadcast in HDTV look spectacular on this TV. DVDs also look great when played through the up-converting DVD player that I already owned. But, programs broadcast in standard definition don't always look that great on this TV. I pipe the sound through my home theater receiver so I cannot comment on the audio of this set. In order to get the best picture, you will need to adjust the settings. I used the THX tuning routines on the "Lion King" DVD to tweak the settings just about right. Note: it may take some time to get the video settings to your likeness. You will not be disappointed with this set.

5 Star Review A great HDTV

Strengths:

Picture clarity, dual HDMI input, separate volume settings for each input

Weaknesses:

High volume difference between digital and analog channels (see below)

Posted Dec 13, 2007 - I was in the market for my first HDTV and eventually settled on an LCD. I did a bit of research and found that Sharp was one of the leaders in LCD TVs, so I got interested in this one. Other sites and customers seemed to give it excellent reviews, and the fact that it came with an upscaling DVD player (when I bought it) just made it so much sweeter. I never knew just how much of a quality difference there was between the standard analog broadcast and the newer digital TV until I hooked up the antenna and turned this unit on. Now I almost exclusively watch digital broadcasts. The only thing is that after watching digital and changing the channel to an analog one, the volume level seems to jump several levels. This could just be a nuance of analog broadcasting and probably has nothing to do with the TV, but it's still an annoyance.

5 Star Review Sharp LC37D62U AQUO 37” High Definition 1080P LCD TV

Strengths:

The Sharp HD LCD TV has a beautiful and clear picture. The high definition picture appears three dimensional

Weaknesses:

None

Posted Jun 10, 2007 - This is our first Digital High Definition TV and the picture is beautiful and clear. We purchased this 37” Sharp TV because we were limited on space and wanted a High Definition TV with a 1080P display format. We are very pleased with its picture quality, number of inputs and many features. The HD picture is best when viewing landscapes and outdoor sporting event. I first connected it to an outdoor TV antenna that I had been using to receive local channels with my 32 inch analog TV. I was astonished by the quality of the picture and the number of digital and digital HD channels that it pulled in over the airwaves. When I contacted DirecTV to update our service to HD, their technician also rerouted my old antenna through the DirecTV receiver. While the TV picture quality continued to perform spectacularly through the DirecTV antenna and receiver, I realized that their receiver was limiting the reception of a number of local channels. I reconnected my old antenna thought a splitter and than realized that the Sharp Digital HD LCD TV obtained better reception over the airwaves.

5 Star Review Sharp AQUOS 37 inch HD 1920 x 1080 resolution LCD TV

Strengths:

Phenomenal picture, sometimes looking three dimensional. The speakers are mounted on the bottom so the tv is less than 37 inches across and allows it to fit in limited areas.

Weaknesses:

Sound may not be loud enough in noisy rooms. Default picture setting not appropriate for normal use; backlight must be lowered. I set all picture setting back to normal.

Posted Sep 9, 2007 - I waited 8 months to buy an LCD television because I was not fully satisfied with the specifications of any models on the market. I purchased the 37d62U because it had 1920x1080 high resolution, a 6ms response time that made action scenes crisp, and extremely high contrast with deep black colors. The banding issues that existed on the larger Sharp models have been resolved and have never existed on this model. I purchased the television new and received it the next day in non-working condition. Most web retailers will not accept returns on televisions so you have to use the Sharp in-home 1-year warranty. Sharp technical support is open every day but could not determine the problem. It seemed that it would be at least a week before someone would come to fix the tv. I realized I could bring the tv to any authorized repair shop and get it fixed for free. The next day I took it to one and within an hour it was working; one of the connections to a circuit board had become loose and had to be reconnected. The speaker sound is fine but when an air conditioner is running in the room, a couple of stations were not loud enough. I do not expect it to have sound approaching even a low cost home theater system and purchased the tv for its picture. When I want better or need louder sound, I use my home theater speakers. I have used almost every input and output connector and feel there are more than enough connections for nearly every type of user. The menu system is easy to use, and for the most part, intuitive. In summation, it's the best 37-inch LCD television, and the best 37-inch LCD for the price.

5 Star Review Sharp LC37D62U AQUO 37” High Definition 1080P LCD TV

Strengths:

Fantastic picture, easy to set up even for a non-techie.

Weaknesses:

none so far

Posted Sep 23, 2007 - This is my first flat screen TV and we spent a lot of time researching this purchase. No other LCD had this kind of picture quality, at any price, in my opinion. We hooked it up, but were told by our cable provider that they are out of HD boxes and will be for the next couple of weeks. We were afraid that we wouldn't get a great picture until the boxes come in, but that was wrong. If the picture can get any better, I can't wait to see it.

1 Star Review Sharp LC37D62U

Strengths:

Competitive pricing and styling

Weaknesses:

Very limited viewing angle, average sound output, dark scenes appear washed, below average grade for Sharp service

Posted Dec 20, 2007 - I am very disappointed with the purchase of this set. I've had blotching problem on the extreme left side of the screen, which remains unresolved from October. Their technician who checked the set on site, claims that this was normal on LCD screen and that I was looking for a perfect picture which is not possible. This same technician also locked the advance setting with a password without letting me know. After numerous calls to Sharp, I was informed there is not much they can do since the inspection showed no problem. The picture looks very good on on most bright scenes, but this same problem is most apparent on dark scenes. I have the set placed in an open area, but only looks best when viewing straight on, otherwise, mediocre elsewhere in the room. This is my second LCD TV purchase, but my last from Sharp.

4 Star Review LOVE IT

Strengths:

GOOD PICTURE QUALITY AND VALUE FOR THE MONEY.

Weaknesses:

NOT SURE THAT THE COLOR IS THAT GOOD VIEWING FROM A SIDE ANGLE VS. LOOKING STRAIGHT ON.

Posted Nov 23, 2007 - I RESEARCHED THIS TV AND SHARP'S REVIEWS WERE ALWAYS HIGH ON THIS TV. I LIKE THE 37" SCREEN BECAUSE IT FITS ON OUR BOOKSHELF PERFECTLY. IT HAS A BLACK EDGE AROUND THE SCREEN AND REALLY LOOKS CLEAN AND STYLISH. THE BASE IS SLEEK AND PERFECT. I WOULD/HAVE RECOMMENDED MY TV TO OTHERS. IT IS A QUALITY PRODUCT AND GOOD PRICE.

5 Star Review LC37D62U 37" LCD TV

Strengths:

EASY SETUP, PLENTY OF OPTIONS AND ADJUSTMENTS, MORE THAN ENOUGH OF INPUTS.

Weaknesses:

I HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH THE SPEAKERS, THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT THIS TV ALONG TIME AGO.

Posted Feb 3, 2008 - THIS TV WAS THE EASIEST TV TO SETUP, IT HAS PLENTY OF ADJUSTMENTS FROM PICTURE TO AUDIO TO OPC SETTINGS, EVEN A TEN YEAR OLD COULD SET THIS TV UP. THE PICTURE IS GREAT IN ANALOG, BUT WHEN I HOOKED TO MY DIGITAL CABLE BOX IT WAS EVEN BETTER, I COULD NOT BELIEVE WHEN I GOT A HD CHANNEL HOW CLEAR THE PICTURE WAS, EVEN BETTER THAN THE DIGITAL CHANNEL. I HAVE COMPARED THIS SHARP TO MANY OTHER BRANDS, FOR THE PRICE I BELIEVE THIS WAS THE BEST CHOICE, I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT YOU COULD GET A BETTER PICTURE ON ANOTHER HDTV, I AM VERY SATISFIED WITH THIS PURCHASE.

2 Star Review Sharp Aquos LC-37D64U would not purchase again

Strengths:

Easy setup. Good picture quality. Nice overall appearance.

Weaknesses:

3 primary issues: 1. Audio inputs do not work. 2. Channel surfing is painfully slow and 3. Sleep button hidden.

Posted 1 year ago - I bought this because it was the only 37" TV on the market that would fit in my expensive entertainment center. Setup was fast and easy. Within 30 minutes of opening the box, I had it up and running. Picture quality was decent. The remote is just OK. Many of the menu choices are not intuitive however so making changes requires a thorough read of the operating manual. The REALLY annoying thing about it was when my kids wanted to hook up their Wii. I simply could not get the audio to work. All I got was static from the TV speakers. At first I thought it might be a Wii setup issue or a bad cable. But, when I tried hooking up an XBox 360 and a DVD player, I got the same result. Static. And it did not matter whether I went through inputs 1,2 or 3. So, there is either a hardware or software issue with my TV that prevents the audio inputs from working. I tried contracting Sharp via their website and met with immediate frustration. They don't provide info on local service centers. You have to call them to get that information. I called and went through 8 layers of prompts, only to be met with a busy signal. Wound up emailing them and 3 days later have still not gotten a response. So, the TV works OK. And it's a good TV ... but if you need to connect external components directly to the TV without going through an external sound system, you might not get any audio. I suspect this is a manufacturing/quality issue with Sharp Aquos that is not limited to my broken TV. My advice - steer clear of Sharp Aquos if you intend to hook up a gaming system for the kids.

5 Star Review Sharp Aquos is the best in LCD.

Strengths:

True full HD 1080p picture quality. Fast moving images look great on this TV. The vibrant colors are amazing on this set.

Weaknesses:

Speakers.

Posted May 22, 2008 - I recently purchased this set and it has amazing picture quality, I was blown away by it. The only problem was that mine had a damaged part on the back of the TV that caused a loud buzzing sound to come out of it, so I called Sharp and they submitted a work order for a qualified technician to come repair it, did the job, awesome customer service. Definitely recommend Sharp Aquos over any other brand.

4 Star Review Wonderful

Strengths:

Great Picture and very easy setup. A little playing with the adjustments and the picture is better than great

Weaknesses:

Difference in analog and digital sound is a minus. Viewing angle is not as great as I would like it.

Posted Apr 6, 2008 - Overall I feel that the set is well worth the money. I would purchase it again. The picture is just outstanding even with plain analog. I am using Comcast as my provider. I doubt that I will rent the cable box to receive all the channels in digital. The difference just is not there.
