5 Star Review Sony Bravia KDL-32S3000 LCD Television

Strengths:

Very nice and vivid picture, good contrast with bright whites and deep blacks, anti-glare surface screen, nice sound, beautiful design.

Weaknesses:

None so far

Posted Feb 23, 2008 - I purchased this television set a few months back along with a larger Sony set, and have been very impressed with this TV. The larger set that I purchased has a True 1080P picture, whereas this has a 720P picture, but the quality of this TV will make you think it is 1080P. The picture is absolutely amazing, with excellent dark and light hues and brilliant bright colors. I compared this TV in stores with similar sizes and models from Sharp and Samsung, and I found this one to be the best. The TV itself is stylish and eye-catching, yet practical. I believe I made a good decision in purchasing a good quality TV that will last in the long-run. This LCD was the best value for my money.

5 Star Review Sony Bravia KDL-32S3000 32" LCD TV

Strengths:

Brillant clear picture quality. Easy setup. HDMI inputs. Very good speaker sound. It’s a Sony. Nice basic matte black design.

Weaknesses:

Only 2 HDMI but this not a major issue for me.

Posted Jan 9, 2008 - Before purchasing the Sony KDL-32S3000, I extensively researched and read reviews of similar 720p models made by Panasonic, Sharp, Samsung, and Toshiba. I decided to go with the Sony not only because of their price, but most importantly their reliability, and quality. I also have a 40” Bravia and couldn’t be happier. The matte black design looks great in my living room. The clarity and brilliant picture and sound only adds to the pleasure of watching HD television programs. Setting up the television using the remote was easy and painless. Although Sony could have added an additional HDMI, it was not a major factor in my decision making. Overall, I would highly recommend this Sony KDL32S3000 LCD HDTV as its an excellent value for the price.

5 Star Review Sony KDL-32S3000

Strengths:

Great picture, good sound and easy setup.

Weaknesses:

Haven't found any yet.

Posted Oct 1, 2007 - Picked up a Sony KDL-32S3000 for the Master Bedroom at Circuit City and here are my initial impressions. I also own a Sony KDL-46XBR3 so I’m trying not to compare the two and judge the 32” solely on its’ own merit. Appearance: Set is all black without any wasted bezel space. What I mean is the bezel doesn’t add any unnecessary width or height to the set (~ 31.1” W x 22.7” H) and it fits nicely in an armoire where a 27” CRT used to reside. When the lights are off all you see is picture. Operation: Setup is simple and the first thing I did after connecting it to a Comcast HD cable box was change the picture setting from “Vivid” to “Standard” until I get a chance to try adjusting the settings. The “Xross Menu Bar” (XMB) is pretty intuitive and is the same menu found on most of the newer Sony units. Next, I put the set on a blank input to check for problem issues such as stuck pixels, clouding, dark corners and buzzing or humming that others have reported. No stuck or dead pixels (I was really surprised), no clouding (good dark uniform screen), no dark corners and no buzzing or humming unless I put my ear literally next to the TV in a dead silent room and then I have to listen really close and I have excellent hearing. Picture: Amazing for a 32” 720p with “Standard” settings right out of the box! Bright, crisp and incredible color. I compared this TV for over an hour to a Sony 32” 720p XBR4, Sharp 32” 1080p D62U and a Panasonic 32” 720p LX70 sitting right next to it with the same feed and this set was only edged out by the XBR4. For the bedroom I couldn’t justify the $300 price difference and decided to put the difference toward a Hi-Def DVD player. Sound: The sound is really good for such small speakers. I changed the sound setting to “S-Force Surround” (I think that’s what it’s called) and it truly sounds like I have surround sound. Overall I would have to give this set a 9 out of 10 with the only thing that would make it a perfect 10 would be 1080p. I know I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference from 10 feet away but it would be nice just to say it was a “perfect set”. It’s a keeper and I’m extremely happy with my purchase.

5 Star Review Great Picture!

Strengths:

Love the Sony picture---nice and clear. Good contrast.

Weaknesses:

None

Posted Jul 25, 2007 - It's hard to beat a Sony TV. No surprises here---great picture, good contrast and reliable. Pay just a little more for a Sony and you'll be a happy camper. The KDL32S3000 fits the bill!

5 Star Review Sony Bravia KDL-32S3000--Great TV

Strengths:

Brilliant picture, superior sound, simple but effective design

Weaknesses:

Only 2 HDMI inputs--enough for me but others might need more

Posted Aug 4, 2007 - Before purchasing the Sony KDL-32S3000, I extensively compared similar 720p models made by Samsung, Toshiba, and Sharp, as well as a 1080p model by Sharp. I concluded that the picture quality of this Sony was equal to or better than the others, even the 1080p Sharp. What sold me was the sound quality the Sony offered--it was a welcome relief to the tinnier sound of the aforementioned sets. Although simple in design, I preferred the matte black cabinet over that of the Samsung, which seemed reflective and somewhat distracting. Set-up was easy and the remote was fairly intuitive. I would highly recommend this LCD TV as an excellent value for the price.

5 Star Review Sony Bravia KDL-32S3000

Strengths:

Great style, nice clear picture quality

Weaknesses:

needs sound adjustment during commericals

Posted Nov 26, 2007 - I am very please with my purchase.Connections are easily accessible and installation was fair simple. Being able to adjust the picture setting according to the light in the room is an enjoyable bonus. I really didn't mind spending the money in order to buy a Sony tv, because I realize that I would get my money's worth.

5 Star Review Great TV , great buy, great spec's

Strengths:

HDMI inputs, quality, and reliability

Weaknesses:

none so far

Posted Sep 22, 2007 - I looked for a few months for a great HDTV. I compared HD TV's at retail stores to determine what I wanted and needed. I noticed most HD TV's were good looking straight on but some were not quite as good looking from the side. I wanted to be able to see the same quality from the side as in front. It came down for me to 2 models for me at the end of my search. Sony 32s3000 and Samsung 3253 (I believe). I went with the Sony because of their supposedly great quality from what I've heard and read through many reviews, and their longevity in the business. The HD TV is just like what I saw in the store when using HD (EXCELLENT), but when using regular satelite non-HD it is not as good as I thought it would be when close to the TV. The farther away you get and at angles it gets better. I'm glad I went with the 32 inch instead of the 40 inch for the living room. I now just have to talk the wife into getting HD service through the satelite provider and not just through a 40 dollar rabbit year HD antenna which works great but I only get a handful of channels in HD.

5 Star Review Very Satisfied

Strengths:

Cheaper than newer Sony models but picture quality is comparable.

Weaknesses:

None so far.

Posted Aug 25, 2007 - I bought a 52" Sony XBR3 for my living room and wanted a smaller LCD for my guest bedroom. Since my wallet took a hit from my first purchase I wanted to save some money. Compared this TV side-by-side with a more expensive newer Sony XBR4 and I could not see any significant difference in the picture quality. Also there is very little difference in the external appearance. Got this one and I have had no regrets.

5 Star Review An Excellent TV

Strengths:

HD looks great, seems to be of high quality (but what less would you expect from Sony?)

Weaknesses:

only 2 component inputs, back-lighting seems very slightly uneven

Posted Jan 8, 2008 - I have used the TV quite a lot with my Playstation 3 and it looks great. Games look excellent in HD, and Blu-Ray movies look amazing. Picture clarity, color, and contrast are all excellent. I have not tried it with any cable (RF) inputs, but I have noticed that the TV will not play the (horribly annoying) audio when it is not getting sufficient signal for a channel (i.e. when the picture is "snowy"). I appreciate that a lot, as it can be quite jarring to be flipping through channels and hit a channel that produces a very loud static sound. Older games also look nice on the TV (i've tried it with my Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64). Unfortunately though, the high resolution of the TV is pretty unforgiving and the aliasing ("jaggies") is much clearer as well. Still, the color is very good. The Nintendo Wii also looks very good using component cables with bright colors and clear textures, though the Wii also suffers from aliasing (not anywhere near the extent of the N64 though). On a side note, when the Wii sensor bar is on its stand, it fits quite snugly between the TV and the TV's stand. On the negative side, I have noticed that the upper corners of the screen are very slightly darker than the rest of the screen when the image is bright white. However, such occasions are rare, and even then it is hardly noticeable. Also, some may be disappointed that it only has two component inputs. It partially makes up for this with the two HDMI inputs, but many older devices only component output for HD signal. Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase. Though the TV is at the more expensive end for its specifications, I definitely think that it was worth it.

5 Star Review Sony Bravia KDL - 32S000 32

Strengths:

Excellent picture quality; speaker sound is very good; very good viewing angle. Setting up and programing the channels was very easy.

Weaknesses:

remote control is very large

Posted Jan 15, 2008 - This television is the perfect size for a small living room. The picture is almost perfect from all viewing angles. This TV was very easy to get from the car and into the house because it is very lightweight. Set up programming was a snap. Another nice feature is the picture can be adjusted to wide zoom, normal, full or zoom depending on how each individual enjoys watching movies! Highly recommended!
