I got this at Bestbuy when it was on sale for $1299.99 which put it into the price level with much smaller sized and lesser know name LCDs so I jumped on it and it was the best purchase I have ever made. Right out of the box the picture was near perfect and with a little tweaking was like looking out a window. The 3 HDMI inputs are great too, but be aware HDMI is the only input that will show true 1080P, the component will only show 1080i.
The picture is great with my Time Warner HD, Xbox 360 and upconverting DVD players, SD channels are typical of how they look on any hdtv. My next purchase is definitely going to be a bluray player to really see what this tv can do.

TopStrengths: Lots of TV for the bucks! Beautiful picture right out of the box.

I am really impressed with the quality of the TV and the amazing picture quality. I've never had a LCD TV before and this one was a real cinch to hook up. Manual is excellent. Lots of HD hookups. Could not find a better TV for the price!

TopStrengths: 1. Good price. 2. Good color 3. Very easy to operate 4. The picture is fantastic even using just antenna 5.The features of the set and the remote are useful and convenient
Weakness: 1. non pip
It is easy to install and the user functions are easy to understand and execute. It is very easy to connect it to your PC. I recommend this HDTV to anyone who doesn't need PIP.

TopStrengths: Excellent color and sound quality. Easy menu options.
Weakness: We've only had the set a few days but have not found any weaknesses. Our old Toshiba also gave us great service.
This television gives a lot of "bang for the buck" compared to other 1080P models. Our old Toshiba was a 36" flat screen which gave excellent service but this new 47" is like being in the movie theater. The colors are excellent and the menu options are easy to get through. Compared to much higher priced sets this is a real bargain.

Weakness: - not really a weakness, but it would be nice if it has SD slot for pictures
Comparing to Samsung, Panasonic or Pioneer TV, this LCD's quality is not as good as those, but for 47" and I got it for 1299 at best buy, this is the best LCD. After researching and watching the price going down. I decided to buy this one because of quality and money.

Upon arrival,it performed much like our 42 Plasma w/o HD. was 2 weeks before All equipment need for Dish and receiver,Tivo Type were connected .In HD,not all Channals are, Picture IS Excellent. In either Mode the viewing is excellent

TopStrengths: Clear and crisp with sharp colors. Great sound. Good styling. Nice stand design that keeps TV stable and lets you turn TV a bit at an angle. Has 3 HDHMI ports plus who knows what other various ports.
Weakness: It's a bit complex to get the settings right but I haven't set up another HDTV, so this TV may really turn out to be the easiest. Depending on kind of picture is broadcast, background is little fuzzy
Overall, we're very pleased with this TV and if this Toshiba holds up as our 1994 Toshiba, that just went on the blink after 14 years with NO MAINTENANCE or ANY REPAIRS whatsoever, we'll be some happy campers - again.

TopStrengths: Great for gaming, HD movies
Weakness: Fuzzy basic cable picture
Excellent TV for gaming, especially PS3 and XBOX 360. HD movies and blue ray are phenomenal. Really glad I went with the bigger 47 inch size. Basic cable is not so great, but we knew that going in. We have dedciated only HD sources to this TV to let it really shine, and a smaller one to watch basic cable on. This TV is the centerpiece for our home theatre/media room. Good Choice!

TopStrengths: Bigger screen w/ good picture quality. Decent outlook w/ swivel stand. Comparable hardware specification to the other major 46" products in the 1080p market.
Weakness: A little bit heavy & thick, about 20% more than average. PC connection (Analog NOT DVI) seems to support only up to 1024*768 and is hard to plugin due to the illy-tight space. No detailed specification
Was waiting to jump into the 1080p LCD HDTV market and did quite some research online and in store. This Toshiba 47" TV comes out as one of the brand candidates with high quality/utility to cost ratio. However, compared to LC46D64U, 47HL167 is a little bit behind in terms of weight, thickness, audio power, etc. With both costing around $1300 in the Thanksgivings deals, I would prefer the Sharp Aquos... Actually, I regret that I picked this Toshiba one because its weight just exceeds my carry/moving threashold and it took me quite some effort to move it out from box to floor then to TVstand, the stand seems easy to blend if you are not strong enough to hold the weight. You know what, my wife thought it was a PLASMA at the first glance... But it's slightly cheaper and you can't complain. Well, out of the box, the picture is good as advertised. And once it's setup, I really like the TV. Bottom line: If you are looking for 46+ inch 1080p LCD HDTV at an affordable price and don't care the weight or wall mount, this 47HL167 is one of the best choices.

(This is my very first HDTV purchase, so I took my time researching this Bad-Boy.)
I am very satisfied with the picture quality, the 1080i (from my HD box) and the 1080p resolution from my PS3 the both look amazing. The Digital/Analog reception is kind of average, but then again I did not buy this TV with the purpose to watch standard TV. Everything looks sharp, as far as HD content is concern, the colors are very vivid and the TV provides you with the option to adjust the colors based on the content you are watching (Sports, Movies, Games, etc). An additional feature that I enjoy very much on this TV is the picture size option. The TV allows you to switch to multiple screen-sizes like Wide-Screen, Theater-Screen Format, Full-Screen, etc. Another Plus, is the availability of 3 HDMI ports.
The not so good aspects of this HDTV unit, is the fact that the TV has back-light bleeding. This only affect the TV when the black colors appear.... (Very disturbing when you are watching scary-films.) The speakers are very average, and they make a weird clapping noise every now and then. My suggestion is to get a home theaters system. Finally, the lack of PIP and DVI Port. I would really like to watch multiple shows without having to change channels... Toshiba failed to add a DVI port on this unit, instead it supplied it with a VGA port...
Too make things short; The Toshiba 47HL167 is not the greatest HDTV out there, but for the market price

TopStrengths: good color. No GLARE. This TV has a mat finish, in the living room the last TV had such a glare that sometimes you could not see what was on. It has three HDMI's.
Weakness: When putting in the numbers to change channel it takes for ever for the channels to change. The audio out is fixed. Doesn't have time of day on screen, Only one TV ant type F, in.
I have had Toshiba TV's in the past and this one about a month. This is the best TV I have ever had. I am now looking at a 42" Regza for the bedroom.

TopStrengths: 1080p Great picture quality. Very Strong Contrast and Vivid colors. 3 HDMI ports. CE-Link Capable. Picture quality can be tweaked a lot, depending on your own taste.
Weakness: There is no Picture-in-Picture capability at all. When hooking up my computer with a Radeon HD 2900XT via HDMI the TV will only display 1080i at 30Hz; not 1080p at 60Hz!
Overall I am very happy with my television. It is very big compared to my old one. I currently have a computer, HD DVD player and a DirecTV HD PVR hooked up to it. The quality is amazing. When first looking at it in the store compared to other TVs its colors were off. But you will not notice when you get it at home. Also you can change every setting on the TV for the proper colors to suite your environment. Playing computer games on this display at 1080i (1920x1080@30Hz), I do not notice and ghosting, or any other problems. Only complaint is I wish it would display the computer at 1080p (1920x1080@60Hz).

TopThe Toshiba official website listed it is capable of displaying 1920X1080 @60MHZ. Try another HDMI to DVI cable, it might work.
Strengths: Clear picture.
Weakness: I have nothing bad to say.
This television has a very clear picture. It is a good quality and you cannot beat the price for this size. I had never purchased a toshiba, but this has been a good experience. I am enjoying my new tv.

TopStrengths: Good contrast - bright picture HD picture quality excelent
Weakness: Only weakess is motion blurring of the picture. You might consider the 46RV540 at 120 HZ refresh rate to cure that.
Has four HDMI connections enough for everything. Can be used as a computer monitor with available connection. Swivel stand, good sound quality, narrow bezel- could not ask for more except a cure for motion blurring.

A great TV for a great price
Strengths: +Picture Quality- few competitors can match it +User Friendliness- every thing is easily defined and labled +Features- 3 HDMI ports, ColorBurst, 1080p resolution, and Game Mode are just a few.
Weakness: There are no major weaknesses. For an LCD at this size for the money, it's simply extraordinary.
The Toshiba REGZA 47" LCD TV is one of the best purchases I have made in a while. It has many strengths that make a great TV to purchase. I own a Playstation 3 system and this TV has worked out great. I have used all of the many features of the TV and none of them have disappointed me. The picture quality is top notch in no matter what is being displayed. It is also very user friendly, has 3 HDMI ports and ColorBurst, along with many other features.
