5 Star ReviewBravia KDL 40V3000 40
Strengths: Easy to set up and use. Picture quality is excellent. I found the sound from the 11 watt speakers to be very good. 2 HDMI connections. The look of the TV itself.
Weaknesses: None so far.
Summary: I did plenty of internet research and went to several retail stores ex. Circuit City and Best Buy over a period of months to view many models. The acurate colors of the Sony line of TVs were more realistic than the Samsung and the Sharp which come the closest to Sony. The blacks are right on target which makes the picture details clearer. The glossy black finish on the frame shows the images on the screen very nicely and I get no reflection from lights in the room or even sunshine. Hook up to game consoles and your computer is easy. I wasn't willing to spend thousands on a TV. For me, the Sony V3000 provides a great picture and sound at a reasonable price if you shop around.

5 Star ReviewAbsolutely one of the best LCD TV's made, of course, by Sony
Strengths: Great picture, sound, and bang for the buck!
Weaknesses: A 3rd HDMI input would be good
Summary: (Edited December 01st by ekl2106) I am impressed with everything about my Sony Bravia KDL-40V3000 40" LCD TV. It replaced my old Sony 53" rear projection TV that I had owned for 5 years without any problems. I am a customer who is loyal to Sony products. The high definition picture is outstanding. It has great resolution at 1,600:1. The sound is excellent. Above all, it is reasonably priced. I recommend it to all who are in the market for a high quality LCD HDTV.

5 Star ReviewSony Bravia KDL 40V3000
Strengths: great video and audio, 1080P
Weaknesses: None
Summary: This is one of the BEST LCD's you can get at this price. The video quality is great in high definition and also very good in standard definition, much to my suprise. Audio quality is also some of the best I have heard in a LCD TV. I am well pleased with this product and am glad that I spend the extra cash to get such a high quality TV.

5 Star ReviewGreat performance, Good value
Strengths: True 1080p. Great resolution, great UI.
Weaknesses: Very little. Perhaps that it does not have a 3rd HDMI input?
Summary: If you can find this for a good price, I strongly suggest. After much research, I don't think you can find a better 40 inch flat screen, especially under $2500. This set is significantly superior in resolution and color to lower-grade sets... this is worth the extra couple hundred bucks you might spend. And though there are more expensive 40 inch sets Sony offers, I can't perceive any difference quality-wise.

This set has a very user-friendly UI, much better than most others on the market. Also, nice up-scaling, but I'd still advise getting a cheapie 1080p up-scaling DVD player with HDMI output to compliment this beautiful set.

5 Star ReviewSony KDL40V3000
Strengths: beautiful 1080P picture, ease of use of the menus, useful audio control options
Weaknesses: pricey but worth it, remote only controls TV
Summary: I don't think I could ask for more in a TV of this generation. The picture is mesmerizingly beautiful.

The TV comes with four picture presets: Standard, Cinema, Custom, and Vivid. You can make changes to all four of these, which are saved on a per-input basis, and then easily switch between them to find the best fit with what you are watching. I found the "Cinema" one to be very good as a starting point for most things.

The TV has an audio leveler feature where it can modulate the sound volume, so that commercials are not louder than the actual program. I love this feature, as loud commercials were often a problem for me in the past.

I was surprised that it does a pretty good job with the non-HD channels. I had heard that standard definition channels look terrible on HDTV's. It's true that if the signal of the non-HD channel is poor, the channel does not look very good; however, if it is a high-quality digital signal, I find it to be quite watchable. The TV scales up pictures from DVD players, and that looks good, as well.

I don't see any glare on the screen itself -- and I definitely did with my last TV. If you get just the right angle, you can see a reflection in the black frame, but I don't find it to be a problem -- it does not distract me like reflections on the screen do. Before I saw the TV in person, I was a little worried about whether I'd like the shiny frame, but I went to a store that had both the "V" and "W" models, and found I liked them both equally. I think they both have a more classic design than last year's V2500 model.

5 Star ReviewThe BEST LCD TV available now at a reasonable price
Strengths: SUPERIOR picture quality, beautiful piano black finish, 1080p!
Weaknesses: ZERO NONE
Summary: I have been looking for a new LCD TV to play my PSP Slim on Component cable. I was considering Sony, Samsung, and Panasonic. By luck I saw the KDL-40V3000 on sale and picked it up. The 46V3000 (46 inch) is the same TV just larger. AVS forums owners LOVE this TV. It has GREAT picture quality and no clouding. Sony's top of the line to bottom is as follows: XBR4/5, W, V, S, M. This model is in the middle, but it's picture is only second to the XBR without having to pay hundreds more. Sony TVs cost a little more than the other brands, but you get what you pay for. Full HD 1080p. The only thing this TV does not have is Motionflow 120Hz. Only the XBRs have that at the moment and the rear projection LCDs. I'm very happy with this TV.

5 Star ReviewSony KDL-40v3000
Strengths: 10 bit, higher contrast than 2500 series which produces a noticeable difference in picture quality. 1080P on all inputs.
Weaknesses: PIP options via menu get to be tedious if you like to use PIP a lot. Glossy frame might be a distraction to viewers in brightly lit rooms.
Summary: After doing research on various brands and technoligies, we settled on either the Samsung or Sony LCD offerings. We liked the Samsung but it was out of stock at our prefered retailer. I think either one would have been a great choice but we are very happy with this Sony HDTV so far and would recommend it to anyone.

5 Star ReviewSony does it once again!!!
Strengths: Awesome picture quality, marvelous 1080p!!
Weaknesses: None so far!!
Summary: I bought this TV after a lot of research and it boiled down to either a Samsung or Sony and I finally got the Sony though it was a few hundred dollars more. I am very pleased with the LCD TV as it has astounding picture quality in 1080p. I catch the local channels via my satellite dish and run the signal through an amp and then to the TV. The football matches are especially great!! Even SD channels are pretty good. If someone's looking for a great LCD TV, this is the one!!!

5 Star ReviewAwesome Sony Flat Panel TV!!
Strengths: Super clear display and easy to use menus.
Weaknesses: This TV is on the higher side for 40" flat panels, but you get what you pay for.
Summary: (Edited October 03rd by IbarraYJ) If you're looking for a beautiful flat panel TV, this is one you'll enjoy! Great clarity and not only is this TV high-tech, but a piece of art. I connected the Sony BRAVIA TV to a computer and this thing is so clear it could double as a PC monitor. I can't wait to see HD-TV and BuRay on this baby!

5 Star ReviewBRAVIA KDL-40V3000 40" LCD TV (Widescreen, 1920x1080, 1,600:1, HDTV)
Strengths: HDMI 1.3, 1080P, Color, Sharpness
Weaknesses: Only 2 HDMI inputs
Summary: Its a real joy to watch this tv. I palced in-store order pickup at Sears for Samsung LN-T4061F. Samsung was not available when I went there. This tv was substituted for samsung. No regrets! Woderful picture and sound. No clouding effect! This blows away sony XBR2. Please take a look at any showroom to believe it.

5 Star ReviewSony KDL-40V3000 40" LCD HDTV
Strengths: Great picture and very good sound from the built-in speakers.
Weaknesses: Muting button is too recessed on the remote control for my right thumb. P&P is somewhat cumbersome to use.
Summary: High quality picture and excellent sound from built-in speakers when not using a receiver. I compared this HDTV with many others in the 40" category: I found this unit to be the best of the bunch.

Also, this LCD just fit into my current TV armoire. It had to because my wife would not permit me to buy a bigger TV armoire for an even larger HDTV!
