Sharp LC52D64U
Excellent picture quality. Very light and thin. Good value.
Minor banding visible, but not serious. Audio quality acceptable, but not great.
Posted Jan 1, 2008 - I looked at many HD TVs for months before I chose this model. I preferred the LCD picture quality over the Plasmas. I narrowed down my choice to Sharp, Sony and Samsung LCD models based on picture quality. I decided that the hi-end Sony's had the best picture by a very small margin, but they were significantly more expensive than the Sharp. Unless the two models were side by side with the same source material, I couldn't tell the difference. The picture quality on the Sharp is amazing with a good high definition input, it almost looks 3 dimensional. There have been a lot of complaints about banding problems with the Sharps(light and dark bands on the screen). Supposedly it varies from TV to TV. Mine has some very minor banding, but you have to really look hard to see it. Most people would never notice it unless it was pointed out to them. The speaker quality is not great, but I use a home entertainment system for audio when watching movies. In summary, this Sharp has great picture quality at a very reasonable price for a 52" LCD HDTV.
