Great Quality TV with a Very Clear Picture - But Some Problems with Sound

Strengths: The TV is an exteremly good value for the level of quality that you get. The tv was very easy to set up and the piano black frame and base really looks sharp. Easy to use features.

Weaknesses: The speakers provide pretty good sound; however, even at low volumes there sometimes seems to be some kickback. For quaility sound you will need to hook up the tv to a home theatre system.

This was my first Sharp Aquos after having previously owned the Samsung line. I have been very impressed with the tv and my friends and family have been a little jealous. The one thing that is important is to research the settings to optimize the picture. There are plenty of places online that will assit you with the settings. This is important because the factory settings do not optimize the performance or picture of the tv.

The only problem I have is a sound issue. The picture is great on all HD channel received but on one channel the audio is intermittent. The signal strength is 77 of 78 on the digital test according to the menu on digital setup. Does anyone else have this problem and a fix?

A GOOD CALIBRATION SITE IS AVSFORUM.COM just search xxD64U calibration, but i will do you a favor and post the ideal picture settings for this set. this is going to appear alot darker than the presets and is for a dimmer room. use these settings exactly then just adjust the backlight, contrast, and/or brightness to get your picture up to your liking. P.S. your tv can be calibrated on EVERY input so if you like viewing 1 input with different settings you can, and if you switch inputs they will all be set to the original presets so my advice is to do these calibrations on every input. and make sure you OPC is ON when you are done.

AV MODE: User

OPC = ON

Backlight +9

Contrast +31

Color -1

Bright -1 to +2

Tint +11

Sharpness -1

ADVANCED SETTINGS

CMS HUE R+5,Y-5,G-1,C=0,B=0,M-10

CMS SAT R+6,Y=0,G+15,C=0,B+3,M+15

Active Contrast = Off

Fine Motion = On

I/P = SLOW

FILM = OFF

MONO = OFF

Range of OPC MAX +16, Min -4

Then on the regular menu screen almost all the way to the right, set your DNR to LOW. Make sure your OPC is ON. and prepare to have your mindblown. These calibrations were done with 600-1000$ Calibration tools so be happy that you just saved some money! :)

P.S. This TV does have poor sound quality and you should use an external surround sound. BUT.... if you can't fork that out yet. go into the menu and under the audio menu turn your treble and bass up to 10 or 12, bass boost ON and turn your surround ON. a little bit better. :)
