Philips 52PFL7422D review
52 " full size screen, multiple inputs ,HDMI ver 1.3, USB to play picture shows and also to update to the latest firmware, No clouding or banding issues
Missing VGA input, remote control, settings occupy the whole screen (explained below), analog tv picture quality
Posted Dec 12, 2007 - I got this HDTV model at a great price directly from PHILIPS and it is from a tier-one manufacturer (LG-PHILIPS) Been happy with it so far. HDTV picture looks stunning,Analog TV is OK Updating the firmware is a breeze, just download the firmware onto a usb stick, put it in the USB slot on the TV and the tv update itself in a few minutes and you are good to go. You can either go with the few factory settings to adjust the picture quality or play around until you are satisfied with your custom settings HD/Blue Ray DVD's look great, I hooked up this TV to my home theater I was unable to connect my computer to the TV because this TV takes DVI and my computer does not have a DVI. As an interim I had to buy a converter/special cable to hookup the computer to the TV. The TV remote looks and feels cheap at best. I do not use it at all and programmed my universal remote. The most annoying feature for me is: When trying to adjust the picture quality (Brigthness, color etc.) the settings display occupies the whole screen, so you do not know what the new setting will look like until you come out of that menu. It's like trying to find something in a dark room when the Power goes out during the night. I do not know what the engineers at Philips were thinking, I placed a call with PHILIPS and was informed that that how it works.
