4 Star Review Good value LCD TV

Strengths:

Great picture, QAM and ATSC tuner, lots of inputs

Weaknesses:

SD content looks only so-so, can not disable scaling in PC mode, lack of per-input picture settings, no control of backlight level

Posted Feb 17, 2008 - I bought this TV after it was marked down. This is the first LCD TV I've had so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I expect most people that are going to buy this will be in a similar position. First, the picture quality. The picture looks excellent on high definition content; I don't have any major complaints. There is no backlight bleeding, the contrast is good and colors are vivid. I'm primarily using it to watch movies from my PC, and for that it's excellent. Viewing angles are pretty good as well; colors stay consistent when viewed from the top or sides, though the black level changes when viewed from the side. The PC input does not have a 1:1 mode, but my PC allows the use of near native resolution of 1360x768 so it's not a huge issue for me. This TV has a QAM/ATSC tuner, which allows the TV to receive both over-the-air HD channels and digital channels over standard cable, if your cable provider has them. This means that you may be able to get some HD channels even using basic cable, as is the case in my area. I get 78 analog channels and 19 digital channels. HD cable content looks about as good as I would expect, though it's certainly not up to the same level as, say, a Blu-ray movie. SD content is watchable, but my old CRT tv did a better job. The menu system is easy to use, with help text on the bottom of the screen for each option. While it has a lot of options, it doesn't expose things like color adjustments, other than changing the color temperature. The menu also fills up the entire screen, though the menu goes away when you need to adjust things like brightness or contrast. One negative is that the TV does NOT have per input picture settings. There is also NO backlight control; this may not bother most people who use the TV is a brightly lit room, but in my case where I have dim lighting, I wish I could decrease the backlight brightness a little. Sound is decent; it's good enough to watch TV shows for, but for movies I use a separate sound system. Overall, I think the TV is a good value for the price, and I'd recommend it unless you have more money to spend.

4 Star Review Excellent TV

Strengths:

Nice clear picture, fast change of channels, easy to setup, good inputs in the back

Weaknesses:

No inputs on the front for Videocamera, etc.

Posted Feb 12, 2008 - This television works great. It has a nice clear picture and the setup was very easy. It shows analog channels pretty well. I wish it had some inputs on the front for external devices. All in all, a good television.

3 Star Review Not a Bad Entry Level LCD TV

Strengths:

Price is right Many input selections

Weaknesses:

Not able to pick up all local HD channels (My Panasonic Plasma is able to pick up at least 3 more) Picture not as clear / crisp as higher price lcds, but acceptable for this price range

Posted Feb 16, 2008 - Overall not bad for price range. However, my TV has an annoying humming sound coming from speakers since day 1. If you are using this purely for tv, you can just turn up the volume and it will mask it. However, I am using my tv as a computer monitor most of the time and it's really annoying unless I put the speaker on mute. I am going to contact Magnavox and see what they say.

4 Star Review Awesome TV with the most incredible price tag.

Strengths:

- Brightness - Great color shade - Variety of input sources (Side, 2HDMI, S-Video, VGA, AV) - Price is the most important decision.

Weaknesses:

- Too weak speakers. - Alignment of the unit is not good.

Posted Mar 13, 2008 - - My unit bends to the front (I believe that it should be like 90 degree to the table but it turns out like it bends to the front for 10 degree). Cannot adjust this at all.

5 Star Review Excellent TV

Strengths:

Excellent quality, clear picture. Great price too.

Weaknesses:

Requires 400mm x 200mm TV brackets. But it guarantees stability on TV mount. Channels change a little slow

Posted Mar 9, 2008 - I owned Magnavox CRT TV for more than 10 years without any problems so I did not have any concerns to buy this brand. If using as Monitor this TV allows it use full resolution 1366 x 768 while other TV’s allow only 1024x768. Default setting and auto search settings are very good so I did not have to adjust anything. Tuner identified all HD and analog channels right from the box. It has three groups for composite input and two for HDMI – more then enough for me. VGS input has similar PC audio input that make it easy to watch movies from laptop. Few TV’s has it. I recommend.

4 Star Review Magnavox 32MF337B27 LCD TV

Strengths:

Value, form factor, QAM

Weaknesses:

Minor: info box annoying obscures view

Posted Feb 22, 2008 - Overall, I am happy with this purchase. For the price (about $400 for me), the picture quality for HD signals is good. QAM tuner is a huge plus and the TV looks sleek. Minor complaints include slow start up (several seconds, which seems considerably longer than my other LCD TV) and a info box that pops up in the middle of the screen when you change channels and remains there for several seconds unless you press OK (like I said, minor).

4 Star Review Excellent Lower cost LCD.

Strengths:

Analog processing- it doesn't make regular tv look as terrible as many HDTVs do. Excellent selection of inputs. Considerbly less blocky HD then

Weaknesses:

I notice some light bleed from all four corners of the TV. Not drastic but definately noticable when watching movies. No video output of any sort. RGB PC input instead of DVI, why?

Posted Feb 19, 2008 - I'm satisfied with the TV. My biggest issue with it is the bleeding from the 4 corners. Perhaps that's just my set but it'd be nice to see someone here actually says yes or no to the bleeding in their reviews. Anyway, it changes channels quickly (definate plus) picks up clear QAM signals on cable. It picked up a few more then my clear QAM PC tuners do. A previous poster stated it didn't have front input. This is true but there are SIDE inputs for extra items like Cameras...etc. It's located on the left behind the bezel. It fairly annoying to setup with the way the menu works. It does work, but it's fustrating. Also, when entering a channel manually the channel menu pops up and takes up 1/3 of the screen. Overall, for the price it's an excellent TV. If I were paying another $300 premium I'd expect these issues to be gone.

4 Star Review Great TV for the price

Strengths:

Good picture quality. HDMI input, and PC ready.

Weaknesses:

Sound quality isn't the best I have ever heard but for tv it works just fine...for movies I use surround sound anyway.

Posted Feb 12, 2008 - I was looking for something a little bigger but the price on this one caught my eye. I am really happy I decided to get it--I got what I wanted sooner, and paid less!!! No regrets here!

Weaknesses:

Only 1080i wish it was 1080p. But over all quality it still good.

Posted Feb 11, 2008 - I bought this at target for $500 on clearance. This is a really nice TV. Black finishing with 8MS respond time with a super 1200:1 contrast ratio! Really good price on this tv compared to sony.
