I'm on my second Gateway plasma t.v. The first on ...

Strengths:

Its good looking when off

Posted Oct 15, 2003 - I'm on my second Gateway plasma t.v. The first one had to be replaced because the tuner was bad. The replacement t.v. has a loud (can be heard over t.v. audio) and annoying buzzing noise. Gateway believes this buzz in normal/acceptable and will not replace or repair the set. Overall, I have found this set to be a cheap piece of junk and I strongly encourage everyone else to stick with brand known for high quality television sets. Oh, this set is manufactured for Gateway by Sampo. They have an almost identical set out under their own name. Beware!

Posted Apr 13, 2004 - I would NEVER buy this set..if you are contemplating buying it..STOP.. after 15 months it blew out..went dark !! Gateway stated "It is not worth fixing" So after spending over $2500, they will not do anything to fix it- I am on my own.

Strengths:

Affordable, great design, good tech support, PiP & PoP. Great 480p DVD images/pictures with a progressive DVD player. Many connection on the back of the unit including DVI, RGB, Component vid, etc.

Weaknesses:

It's only a EDTV and not a HDTV. Low native resolution at 852 X 480, but hey, it's cheap! You pay for what you get. Native speakers are insignificant, but sufficient to watch TV.

Strengths:

cheap, just as good as other tv's on the market

Weaknesses:

picture is not as good as the sony

Posted Oct 21, 2003 - I have had this plasma tv for eight months and it has been a good eight months the picture is not as clear as the sony plasma tv but for $2,799 it is a good tv. watching a football game surfing the net and playing dvds this tv can do all this for a whole lot less than a sony, rca, lg, and samsung. I would recommened this tv to someone that wants to save space, get a good picture, and not spend alot of money.
