4 Star ReviewPanasonic TC-P50G10

Posted 1 year ago - THE GOOD: Superb black-level performance with excellent shadow detail; highly-accurate primary colors and grayscale in THX mode; great color saturation; uses less power than previous 1080p plasmas; VieraCast provides access to select Internet services. THE BAD: Expensive; less-accurate green color decoding and secondary colors of magenta and cyan; limited light output in THX mode; skimpy picture controls; still less efficient than comparable LCDs. THE BOTTOM LINE: With excellent picture quality marred by only a couple of flaws, the Panasonic TC-PG10 series sits at the head of the class of 2009. - Read Full Review

5 Star ReviewBest HDTV Overall

Posted 1 year ago - Bestcovery's experts have ranked this the #1 Best HDTV Overall, #1 Best HDTV 50 - 55 inches, #2 Best HDTV under $2000, and #3 Best HDTV for Picture Quality. Panasonic’s G10 series of plasma TVs offer outstanding picture quality, largely due to their excellent black level performance. Additionally, the THX mode automatically adjusts picture settings for optimal viewing, delivering extremely accurate color temperature (grayscale) and primary colors. However, the light output in this mode is a bit low, so you may want to use the Custom mode if you’re seeking a brighter picture. The Panasonic TC-P50G10 features VieraCast, which provides access to interactive Internet services such as YouTube or Picasa over Ethernet. Connectivity is sufficient with 3 HDMI ports (2 in the rear, 1 on the side) and plenty of other inputs such as composite, S-video, and VGA. Other highlights include a 2:3 pull-down setting and anti image retention to prevent burn-in. Power consumption is always a big concern when it comes to plasmas, and while this HDTV can’t match the energy efficiency of comparable LCD TVs, it is more efficient than the company’s 2008 models. But energy efficiency aside, the Panasonic TC-P50G10 delivers class-leading performance at a very reasonable price. There is no better HDTV for the money. - Read Full Review
