I was looking for a stylish easy-to-use CD player to present to my wife. After doing some research, I concluded that, given the appearance, rich set of features, and Sony's product quality, D-NF420PS is the ideal choice. Indeed, my wife is very happy with it. She is a professional musician and, besides having no problem with using the multitude of features, she also likes the rich quality of sound that this CD player produces.

TopStrengths: Highly intuitive menus, short learning curve, feature rich, excellent sound.
Weakness: display is not backlit
I own a panasonic cd/mp3 which I like, but the Sony has many additional features which make it a great little player. The parametric EQ is impressive, you can turn off those annoying beeps, song/folder navigation is simple, the radio is great and easy to use/program. All and all, I'm extremely pleased. You can't go wrong with this unit.
One recommendation: stick with mp3s and toss the Sony ATRAC CD that comes in the package. It apparently contains the Sony "root" virus.

TopStrengths: This unit is rather slim as far as CD players are concerned. It has good sound quality, many features such as an equalizer and an fm tuner. Also, it looks very nice and only uses 1 battery.
Weakness: No backlight and the headphones are not that great.
All in all the unit is very good value. I firmly believe that this is probably the best CD player out there as it has style, quality, and features which are unmatched by the competition. The only major drawback is the absence of a backlight. If you can live with that then I would buy this CD player.

I purchased this after my SANDISK MP3 player stopped working and i am very happy with the features so far.
Many people say that the LCD does not light up, i think that is OK as light would take away lot of power and and 31 Hour playing on a single battery is awesome

Sony PSYC Walkman D-NF420PS Review
Strengths: Nice Looking. Reasonable Price. Works great. Easy on battery power.
Weakness: Setting radio station presets a little weak.
Excellent Walkman product. Super sound not only on the CD and CDMP3 player but even on the radio function. OK I didn't like how the radio presets work -- you have to have the walkman find the stations that come in best (automatically) then decide if you want to lock in that station. The only problem with this is that I want to lock in a few stations that come in too weak for the lock in mechanism to pick up. A minor annoyance. This thing really has the features! I mean it. The sound for this level of system is unbeatable. I'd probably give it 4.75 out of 5 if you want to get pedantic, but I'll give it a 5 anyway because I am so satisfied.
