Best Cassette adapter period

Strengths:

Very loud volume. Very little background noise. Excellent positioning. No unsightly wires hanging around (unless you use the charger)

Weaknesses:

may be too high for some cars. May block important displays and dials.

Posted Sep 27, 2006 - I originally stayed away from FM transmitters because of the bad reviews they usually get. I first opted for a Monster cassette adapter. After using it for one day, I felt that there was too much background noise (constant humming), and there wasn't any convenient place for me to put my ipod without it falling onto the car floor. The sound was rather distorted if I played it too loud. Three days later I purchased the Belkin Tunedeck. What a major difference. First it convieniently docks the ipod within reach and view. The second thing I liked about it was the quality of the sound. Since the source does not come from the headphone jack, it appears that the sound quality is much clearer. It also bypasses the internal volume of the Ipod (adjusting the Ipod volume will not affect the sound). Background sound is minimal. I would say it is pretty close to CD quality. If you have the volume very low, you may hear the internal mechanisms of the cassette clicking around. Other than that, I feel this is a fantastic product. I would recommend it for anyone who still has a cassette in their car and does not have much of center console display to look at. Provantage has the best price out there.

Posted Aug 20, 2006 - I have been looking for a decent way to play my iPod in my car for months. I had many problems with the transmitters that play your iPod through the car radio (FM) The Tunedeck works great. (I just recieved it a week ago) Highly reccomended. I just wonder if it really will fit every car with a casseted deck. It worked fine in my RX7
