If you have an iPod mini you need an iTrip mini. The iTrip mini FM transmitter lets you play your iPod mini?s music wirelessly through any FM radio ? in your car, on the road, even at home through your stereo. The iTrip mini was designed exclusively for the iPod mini. Its form factor matches perfectly all the curves and lines of the iPod mini. It sounds even sweeter. iTrip mini gives you the best possible performance because you can choose any empty station from 87.7 to 107.9. Best of all you choose and change your iTrip mini stations directly from the iPod mini itself. The iTrip mini does NOT need batteries. It receives a tiny amount of power directly from the iPod mini ? saving you from wasting hundreds of batteries a year. That?s good news for the planet and even better news for your wallet. minimize

Strengths:

small, attractive design

Weaknesses:

Weak signal. I have tried several radio frequencies and have yet to achieve sustained clarity. Awkward to adjust frequency.

Posted Nov 18, 2004 - Operation of this device is very finicky. You can't just "set it and forget it." You have to constantly tinker with it to achieve acceptible quality. The concept is great and it looks cool, but this product just doesn't deliver ease-of-use and high quality that the iPod itself delivers. Maybe my standards are too high, but I feel like this product is still in "beta."

Strengths:

Transmission strength, looks, lack of battery, ease of use

Weaknesses:

Price, won't work with anything but iPod mini.

Posted Dec 16, 2004 - This thing works like a champ. I've owned an RCA FM modulator that was static on every channel. The iTrip works great - no static most of the time. I'd recommend this to other iPod mini owners as their 1st accessory purchase.

5 Star Review iTrip, where have you been all my life?

Strengths:

good quality sound, easy setup, compact, nice design that looks like an extension of the mini instead of an awkward add-on, compatible with home and car stereo systems/radios

Weaknesses:

sometimes the signal is distorted when driving near power lines, may drain battery more than you would like--but just get a cheap car charger and you will be good to go

Posted Aug 27, 2006 - This is a great product and I have been very happy with this purchase. I am still in awe of the fact that I can actually play my ipod on my car stereo. It has always worked great in my car (2006 Civic), but it does not work in my boyfriend's older car. However, his radio is staticky anyway, so maybe it is his antenna. If your radio has static when tuned to regular stations, then this product would probably not be good for you. I have also used this product to play music on my radio alarm clock. It has a weaker antenna, so I have to put the ipod+transmitter directly on top of the radio. In my car, I have never had trouble finding the "sweet spot".. it pretty much works anywhere I put it. The only issue I have had with the signal so far is when I am driving near a lot of powerlines on the highway, there is distortion and static. If you are planning on using the iTrip for road trips, or even just frequent short trips in your car, you should probably invest in a cheap car charger. The iTrip does drain your battery, although not extensively.

Posted Mar 22, 2005 - buy it. its worth the money :D . the itrip will deliver an average quality of sound to your radio/receiver. i don't see why other people have problems with it... it works great for me... in the car or even in my room it works just fine.

Strengths:

No wires! Easy to install on the computer and on the iPod Mini.

Weaknesses:

Took a while to find a station that was not static-filled. Not compatible with iSkin.

Posted Sep 21, 2004 - One of my friends bought an iTrip 3 weeks ago and I fell in love with it and had to have my own. I was excited to find such a great price and am now learning how to use it with my own car stereo. It's so amazing to listen to any song in my collection without having to worry about adapters or wires. A little tricky to figure out the station selecetion the first time, but ultimately sounded great. VERY portable.

Strengths:

The best part about the Itrip is that its wireless! No cords to fuss with or add to the mess, one less cord to have to deal with.

Weaknesses:

The one weakness I ran into was sound quality, not as great as I thought it would be, but perhaps I just havent found the right station yet; guess i just have to give it some fine tuning.

Posted Aug 4, 2004 - Over all the Itrip is a great product but every product has its flaws. It was easy and straight forward to set up but had some struggle tuning the right station, but once everything was in working order, there weren't any problems. The only dissatisfaction that I had was the sound quality, its good but it could probably be better; but maybe I just haven't found the perfect station yet. But the logistics and style couldn't be better, simplicity adds to the pros of the Griffin Itrip.

Strengths:

Works well with car radio.

Weaknesses:

Software not the most straightforward to use.

Posted Nov 30, 2004 - The iTrip works quite well, out of the box, provided you don't need to change the station (initially set at 88.0). The software to change the station must be loaded via CDROM to the iPod, a bit of a hassle, and once loaded it is not straight forward on how to adjust the station. All in all, the unit does what it claims to do, and does it quite well.

Strengths:

It's wireless, portable, and on the go!

Weaknesses:

The reception I receieve isn't as good as I thought it would be. There's no static or anything, it's just that it sounds like it has low bass, I would suppose.

Posted Aug 13, 2004 - I am very happy with my iTrip mini. Although the reception isn't perfect, I suppose it's just for the fact that it's wireless. Overall, this is a great product.

Strengths:

Powers off iPOD. This is key. Select any station.

Weaknesses:

Not so great transmission at long range. Station selection a bit cumbersome.

Posted Nov 21, 2004 - Very clever use of iPOD's power source, and also clever workaround to select stations. Given that this is not made by iPOD people, the workaround is slick, but screw you, Apple, make it easier for people to make accessories for your toys, because the workaround although slick is still cumbersome. The transmitter is good at short range, not so good beyond that. Well worth my money. The other transmitters are crap.

Strengths:

Ease of use, elegance of product design, utility, mobility.

Weaknesses:

Minor -- one may want to compile iPod playlists into separate Smartlist so iTrip Stations won't get played in Shuffle mode.

Posted Sep 30, 2004 - I can't think of a better or more functional third-party utility for mini iPod owners than the Griffin iTrip mini FM Transmitter. I've owned its big brother version for several months and use it with my 20 gig iPod on daily basis. So happy am I with the transmitter that the recent purchase of a mini iPod for my daughter was immediately followed by the purchase of an iTrip mini FM transmitter. Now, no matter where we go, as long as we are in close proximity to a radio, we can free up our headphones and play the music on our iPods for all to hear. If you're an iPod mini owner, run, don't walk, to the nearest store and get your own iTrip mini FM Transmitter!

Strengths:

So far works great. I use it to listen to school tape lectures though, not for music (see below).

Weaknesses:

A bit staticy, although this is transient. I do not think that this gives mp3 quality and I would not recommend if you want great digital music quality.

Posted Jan 26, 2005 - Overall, a great product for my needs. That is, for listening to lecture tapes/voice recording. I am a pretty into sound quality and have an aftermarket set-up of amplifiers and high end speakers in my car. With that said, I would not recommend this in place of CD/mp3 level sound quality.

Strengths:

Simple to use.

Weaknesses:

Subject to interference.

Posted Nov 22, 2004 - I use my iPod to listen to audible books in the car so the poor sound quality and occasional RF interference won't bother me too much. If you think cell phones provide a high quality communication experience then you'll probably love this simple little wireless device.

Strengths:

Posted Dec 11, 2004 - This attachment allows you to listen to all your ipod tunes on the radio. I've used it at work and home and car. It plays all my tunes on MY stereos. No need for me to purchase special stereos just pop on the itrip and place your stereo at designated station and there's your tunes - on YOUR system. Highly recommend accessory.

Weak signal

Posted Oct 28, 2004 - It works and looks great!!! The way it's designed, it make it look like it's a part of Ipod. My only complain will be the weak signal. I need to turn the volumn up at least 50% more to get the same level I get with the cd's.
