5 Star Review Nice for Home theatre setup

Strengths:

Stylist look with sturdy construction, 24K gold contacts, Twisted pair XLN® technology

Weaknesses:

Overpriced

Posted Mar 9, 2006 - Like other monster cables, its connectors are 24K gold plated providing high quality contacts between interfaces and highest signal transfer. The thing I liked about this cable is twisted pair XLN technology for noise cancellation. I did not find any static problem with it. I think it is worth to spend little more if you are hooking it up with HD ready LCD TV and Progressive scan DVD player with HDMI out. The nylon bag is like freebies. If you do not want to spend this much then search for 'Monster Cable THX Mini-to-RCA Audio Cable (8 Feet)' at amazon, Model - THX I-MINI. This is cheaper but without XLN technology.

5 Star Review For the aesthetically inclined as much as the audiophile...

Strengths:

Excellent sound, 7ft gives you plenty of length, Pretty, Bag included.

Weaknesses:

Expensive, Takes up more room than other cables of it's length/function, Included bag is crap (super thin nylon with a cheap piece of cardboard sewn into the flap).

Posted Aug 24, 2005 - The implied quality of this cable is off the charts. The most impressive thing about it by far is the woven sheath that surrounds the cable. It makes the cable look extra cool, but adds quite a bit of thickness (much more than comparable splitters). The overall thickness and strength of the sheath make it seem like it would be REAL hard to pinch or kink. But on the flip-side you can only roll it into a 4 inch diameter circle at it's tightest, (not so hot for travel). For this reason they include a bag, which was nice of them, but the bag is really cheap feeling. The connectors are high quality and provide a tight fix (like all monster RCA cables), but are much bigger than other y-splitters. Anyone with an iPod (or other high quality audio source) and a decent to nice stereo should pick one of these up. Otherwise, just use one of the 4 you have laying around from your "Discman" days. If the looks and the hardy sheath aren't priorities, there is another monster cable for 10 bucks cheaper with the exact same sound quality. Believe me, I emailed Monster :) If you want a mini > RCA splitter with superior sound quality, and sexy looks, this is the cable for you.

4 Star Review Monster Cable mini-to-dual RCA "Y" cable

Strengths:

Good build quality and price; nice length (7 ft).

Weaknesses:

The cable tends to kink near the point of the split; this may or may not be a problem over time. I've only had the cable for a few weeks, so it's not a problem as of yet.

Posted Mar 21, 2006 - This cable is reasonably priced, yet of good build quality. A bonus is the carrying case with a velcro closure. I'm pleased with the materials, but the tendency for the cable to kink just below the y-joint could prove to be a problem in the future. Monster could prevent the kinking by adding a rubber reinforcement at the joint. I'll probably end up using some heat-shrink tubing to proactively reinforce the joint myself.

4 Star Review Sound Quality, but at a price.

Strengths:

Excelent sound quality, durable construction, adaquate length, stylish.

Weaknesses:

Expensive, bag has limited usefulness, Plug head has trouble staying into my IPOD nano with its case on (mostly the case's fault since I have the same trouble with many other cables/headphone jacks)

Posted Feb 2, 2006 - The overall quality of the cable is great. I upgraded from a 1/8" to RCA that I purchased at Bestbuy for $5.99. I use the cable to connect my ipod nano to my Alpine headunit with AI-Net RCA input. The old cable caused a quite noticable static in the line when I raised the volume on the headunit up too high. So I had to max out the volume on the Ipod to minimize this. With the new iCable the static is gone and I can preserve ipod battery life by running the ipod at medium volume and adjusting the headunit. The sound is also cleaner then it was previously. If you have a good sound system you should take full advantage of the quality by getting this cable, but for someone who just wants to hear some music on their average system the should consider a less pricy solution.
