Sketchy remote Cuts out when plugged in to a audio jack Can recharge ipod when audio jack plugged in ipod docking pieces don't fit
Posted 1 year ago - My friend had these speakers and i just loved how they sounded for how small they were. Liked it so much that i got my own and then began to find some flaws. First was my remote stopped working after 2 days. I tried replacing the battery but it still will not work. Also i couldn't seem to get the plastic ipod holder pieces to snap in all the way. But these didn't really bother me at all. When i moved into my dorm this fall i decided it would be cool to set these speakers on my desk and take advantage of the audio jack in the back so i could have better sound quality without having to buy a desktop speaker set and plug it into my Macbook. Everything works except it goes on these cycles of cutting out. For almost an hr at a time, it will continue to cut out about every min to 2 min consistently. I have to fiddle with the computer volume to get them to respond and turn back on( By bringing up the volume at least 3 clicks before i hear the speakers start up and respond). But overtime it will work fine and not cut out at all (for example right now its playing music fine, but about 30 min ago i had to mess with the volume to get them to respond on 7 separate occasions. I didn't do anything different all 7 times. It just eventually worked again.). And this only happens when plugged into a power outlet and hooked into my mac book with a basic audio jack (3.5 mm i think? just like headphone jacks for ipods. ) I also tried replacing the audio extension cable and bought a better quality cable, but still have the same problem ruling out a short in the wire. Ive concluded that what the speakers are doing are turning themselves off. When they cut out, the power symbol is still lit, but this is because it will always be lit when plugged into a power outlet. And its also not short in the power cable that causes it to turn of b/c ive tried unplugging it while music is playing through my computer, and it will continue to play. And still does when power is plugged back in. Ive pretty much tried everything to figure out what the issue is and have run out of ideas. And it also cant be the computer b/c headphones do not cut out when plugged in like the speakers. ( so if you have an idea let me know) Also music cannot play through the audio jack when an ipod is plugged in. And you cant play your ipod if an audio jack is in. Its like they cancel each other out and make the speakers unless. I tried this b/c i wanted to us it a charging station for my ipod when using itunes on my computer (i would use the ipod but its a hassle to reach up and change the song b/c i don't have a working remote anymore) but it wont even charge it either. But i guess these are understandable b/c the main use of these speakers are intended for ipod use and the audio port was like an added bonus. (probable didn't get a lot of attention from the developers; more like something they slapped on at the last min in my opinion. Would i buys these again? Probable not b/c of the broken remote, audio port flaws, and the other various issues Ive run into with compatibility. But if you are just looking for some really good speakers for use with an ipod only, I would recommend these to anyone for the incredible sound quality that gives this full and almost three denominational sound when the pure-fi is switched on.
