5 Star ReviewThis is a great unit for the price, and does exact ...

Strengths:

Ability to select any channel between 88.1 & 107.9 rather than just presets. Ability to change the channel on the fly. Combination of charging and playing cability in one device. Good Value for $$$

Weaknesses:

Cable to docking part of ipod is rather bulky. All-white color screams "Ipod in the Car".

Posted Jun 6, 2005 - This is a great unit for the price, and does exactly what you want it to do. The weaknesses I mentioned are minute in comparison to the strengths, and should not necessarily affect your decision on whether or not to buy this (unless you live in an area where your window might get popped at the mere thought an ipod might be in the car, or you have very little console space to clutter). I highly recommend this item at this price. Might as well maximize the use of that $300 little dandy...

5 Star Review FM transmitter

Strengths:

no batteries, DC cord for charging and home use

Weaknesses:

Not sure

Posted Aug 2, 2005 - I really think this transmitter stands out due to the way it is built. The car cradle can stay in the car and the unit can be pulled out for home use. The advantage is you don't need to use up batteries. It comes with a DC cord for home use, so you can use it for any length of time. It can be used with any mp3 player (I have an iRiver H10) so don't think it's just for apple. The charger cord is the only thing that is built specifically for the iPod. The cord WILL NOT fit any other mp3 players due to the 30 pin setup. I have no experience with other transmitters, so my comments are limited.

4 Star ReviewI like its overall design and signals in general. ...

Strengths:

Easy to use; Flexible car charger; Especially like the both car-chargable and house-chargable design; Good signals in general.

Weaknesses:

Signals in big cities are questionable (I live in Chicago, signals sometimes are noisy). I guess it might work much better in suburbs.

Posted Jun 20, 2005 - I like its overall design and signals in general. The car-charger is pretty flexible so that it can fit almost every car. House-charging capability is definitely a must-have extra. However, frankly speaking, I wouldn't recommend this in a big busy city - not very clean signals. Sometimes it does work well, but not always, which is annoying. Just connecting my MP3 to a cassette-to-cd gives me better signals. So, now I use it mostly as a car charger.

4 Star Review good!

Strengths:

Car Charger and FM Transmitter in one unit Easy to use LCD-display for selecting frequency Can over power most radio stations

Weaknesses:

Sometimes it can't overpower radio stations, even weak ones

Posted Dec 15, 2005 - I bought this because it had more features than other similar products and was among the least expensive. I have been very pleased with it. The design makes it become part of your car's console, and the large readout is easily visible from the driver's seat.

3 Star Review Maccally IPod FM transmitter and Car charger

Strengths:

Can adjust FM station. Vertically adjustable cigarette input.

Weaknesses:

No hotrizontal adjustable cigarette input. 2 stes of wires - one to take sound from iPod earphone and one for charging capability

Posted Sep 6, 2005 - The overall quality of this product is good. Having 2 separate wires for charging and transmitting make the product less desirable because the wire can become tangled. One plus is the retractable transmitting cord.

3 Star Review Generic not the same as description

Strengths:

If I had an IPod and wanted to use this in the car it would probably work fine

Weaknesses:

The Macally item this is supposed to be generic of works with any musical device.

Posted 1 year ago - You have to be careful when buying the generic. The products are not the same. The description of the non generic version was exactly what I was looking for. It was powered by batteries and could be used with any device. The generic version can only be used in the car with ipods

4 Star Review good value, strong signal

Strengths:

clear signal, strong signal, select any FM channel, good value

Weaknesses:

no battery power. sound quality so so. too bassy. included 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable is cheap and didnt work. no ipod dock, just 3.5mm input.

Posted 1 year ago - Been using this for long drives and works great with my ipod touch. Tried it in the apt and signal reaches through the whole place - from the kitchen to the bathroom. Good for parties. Buy your own cable to connect your player.

5 Star Review Great Deal

Strengths:

It really works excellent

Weaknesses:

Can't adjust horizonal positions

Posted Nov 2, 2005 - Though it's a little more expensive than other FM Transmitter, I still think it's really worthy. Previously I've ordered a Belkin all-channel one but it didn't work at all. I'm not sure if it is just I have back luck or any reason else. I just returned that one and ordered this. I am really happy it works so well and I love the design. To save your time on trial and error, I will recommend to order it directly.

5 Star Review Macally iPod FM Transmitter/Charger

Strengths:

Works excellent, full FM spectrum, charges iPod too!

Weaknesses:

Bulky, more clutter in the car

Posted Aug 1, 2005 - Overall, this is a great item. I've used the belkin wireless transmitter and it doesn't even hold a candle next to this thing. You have use of the entire FM spectrum, which is a big advantage over other transmitters (which usually have 4-6 available stations). I drive in and out of the Phoenix AZ metro area daily and haven't had any issues. I've used it on totaly blank stations and on stations that are picking up another broadcast, and it still works great. It sounds very clean, 95% of the time I get a pure signal with no interferance. The other 5% is hardly noticeable anyway. Besides playing your iPod over the radio it charges it also. The only thing I don't like is that it is a really tight squeeze to get it into and out of the cigarette lighter in my car (could just be my car?). Overall, I recommend this product!

Strengths:

This transmitter seems to be one of the best around. It performs exactly as needed. Charges ipod

Weaknesses:

A little bulky, requires 2 cables running from ipod

Posted May 10, 2005 - Although bulky, this transmitter/charger seems to be one of the best around. It picks up a great signal and compared to the $100 DLO model, it works exactly the same just without the dock. I definitely would recommend to anyone with plenty of space, and to anyone who is willing to deal with a little clutter for a great result.

5 Star ReviewI have read a lot of reviews about fm transmitters ...

Strengths:

Reception. Reliability. Convenience in charging.

Weaknesses:

Size.

Posted May 7, 2005 - I have read a lot of reviews about fm transmitters of other brands such as Belkxx. Most of them are negative as the customers are sick of the poor reception and often prefer a cassette transmitter thing. However, if they had come across Macally's earlier, they would have been fascinated. Macally's FM transmitter has an awesome reception that you can hardly tell the songs are being played through FM. Its bandwidth is amazing too that you can choose ANY CHANNEL within like 88-107 (you can take 88.1,88.2,88.3...). This means you won't have to scare that the channels are taken by the radio stations. You can also charge the transitter using the car charger, home DC charger or USB. It sometimes looks kinda stupid to have such a big thing in your car though, which sometimes can be pretty annoying when you drive. Overall, this is an excellent device with a reasonable price.
