Buttons do not glow
Posted Jul 2, 2005 - With the wired remote you can switch between radio and playing mp3s, as well as adjust the volume and change stations (FM radio mode), and search through songs (mp3 mode). The remote is perfectly sized, and has a clip to clip it to your shirt, backpack strap, belt, etc. There is also a switch to lock the controls to prevent accidental button presses. One thing I learned is that the lock on the Zen Micro and the lock on the wired remote work independently of one another. If you want to lock the Zen Micro controls, then use the lock swith on the unit itself. If you want to lock the buttons on the remote, use the lock switch on the remote. If you want to do both, use both switches. The typical configuration would be to lock the unit and use the wired remote to change functions. I'm not a fan of the wires being white. Call me silly but most headphones and remote wires are black. Maybe that is why I don't find the white wires visually appealing. The only fault I find with the remote is that the button do not glow. In the dark you have to feel around to find the right button. The remote consists of dedicated buttons, not a touchpad so if you find the touchpad too sensitive, this remote is the one for you. This is a must-have for the Zen Micro, and likely will work with the 20GB Zen coming out soon.
