MPN: TV980
Strengths: LIGHWEIGHT, COMPACT, GOOD PICTURE, GREAT RECEPTION, GOOD SOUND.
Weakness: NONE
HEY, THIS IS A GREAT LITTLE GADGET THAT WORKS GOOD FOR WHAT IT IS. GOOD WAY TO PASS TIME WHEN THE JOB GETS BORING. THE PICTURE IS PRETTY GOOD FOR SUCH A SMALL SCREEN AND THE SOUND IS LOUND ENOUGH EXCEPT IN NOISY ENVIRONMENTS.

TopStrengths: Good Picture. Picks Up Many Channels. Battery Life.
Weakness: Must View Directly At It For Decent Picture. No Channel Indicator. Volume could be louder.
I think as a small portable TV, this Casio does the job quite well. I am able to pick up more channels than I can with my large tv and antenna. The picture is quite good as well although you must look at the tv directly otherwise the picture will have distortion and is not viewable. Battery life has been good thus far but it does give the option of using an ac adapter.
Not really knowing what channel I am on is somewhat annoying. I wish they included a better channel indicator and not the radio type bar on the bottom of the screen.
There is an extra external antenna jack which would probably improve reception even more but the use of this feature would probably be suited for someone who is living or travelling far away from a major city where channels would be harder to get. Good feature for campers, etc.
Volume level is acceptable and clear but could be a bit louder. Overall this product is a very good choice and would recommend to anyone who needs portable tv that will do its job well.

How discreet is it (i.e. could I take it to a wedding & get away with watching a game?)
Strengths: Portability; size; decent basic features/functionality for the price
Weakness: Passive matrix; lack of channel indicator; reception quality from built-in antenna
I bought this handheld color tv to take with me on occasional trips where I won't have access to a tv, like maybe on a camping trip. I got it for around $40 after rebate during the last black friday sale, a decent buy for basic features and functionality.
The 2.3" screen is about 1.5" by 2.5", good enough screen size for viewing up to an arm's length. It has a telescopic rod antenna that you can extend and pivot to find an acceptable reception, a speaker on top and a stand pedestal at the back. It requires 4 AA batteries. There's a pair of jacks on top for an external antenna and an earphone. There's another pair of jacks on the side for an AC adapter and audio/video input. I only bought the tv unit but I've seen bonus packs at wholesale clubs that come with some of these accessories as well as a carrying case.
The picture quality is acceptable when you have good reception, but this may take some playing around with the antenna orientation and the brightness control. You'll see a red or green vertical line that moves across the screen and then disappears when the tuner locks on a station. It's definitely only for single-person and direct (not from an angle) viewing with the small screen size and the passive matrix LCD display.
The on-off slide switch is also a function selector that lets you go either to VHF (channels 2 to 13) or UHF (channels 14 to 69). I wish there was a discrete channel selector instead of the up/down tuning keys, so you immediately know what channel you're tuning to. Pressing the tuning key takes you up or down to the next receivable channel which you have to repeat until you get to your desired channel. However, because it doesn't display the channel number, you don't really know which channel you're receiving until you recognize the show/station or see the station id. I prefer to be able to dial in, say, to channel 9 right away instead of scanning the channels until I recognize the right station, but that may be expecting too much for this price.
Again a decent buy for basic features and robust quality consistent with other Casio products.

TopStrengths: 2.3" color screen, This is a little TV that CAN DO!!
Just as good is the CSO 770, and it is a little cheaper. If you MUST have antenna inputs, this will meet that need, but an antenna runs counter to a Pocket TV product. Good product, though!

TopStrengths: Clear picture, digital channel selection, cost, portability
Weakness: screen is small, short battery life, pixelation of images due to quality of lcd
This has been the best purchase I think i've made in recent times. It is really an awesome picture. It's a tiny lcd screen, there is pixelation but what do you want for under 100.00? It's an awesome buy that will let me catch my favorite shows anywhere I go in the country.

TopStrengths: Portability, Strong signal.
Weakness: No channel memory, Picture not so clear, No AC adaptor
I got this portable TV from my friend as a gift before Thanksgiving. When I first open the box, I was excited because this TV is so "cute". It is a wonderful gift.
According to its mannual, I put four AA batteries in it. I thought four is too much for this cute TV. I don't know to deal with this if I wanna bring this out when camping or traveling. Then I registered my product on its website and searched for its AC adaptor. The adpator for this model is AD-K64, which should have the Output of "6V DC 750mA". You can goto Radioshack buy a similar adaptor.
Then I turn it on. The operation is very simple. You just chose VHF or UHF, and then click the TUNING, it will automatically scan TV signal and show up something. It is very convenient. But it cann't store any channel.
The screen display only has 39,600 pixels, which is not clear enough for you to see scrolling news or small credits. But it is suitable for you guys watch America Idol.
Anyway, it is a nive gift.

TopStrengths: Good picture quality, good reception, small size, light weight.
Weakness: No way of knowing what channel you're on - always having to retune it after turning it off - mono headphone sound.
I bought this unit to use with my camcorder. I was going to use it as an external video screen. I read reviews and thought it had an A/V jack on it...it doesn't. However, it is still a very good TV.
In my area I could pick up about 8 channels, 7 of them very well. The picture quality is clear, some text on screen does get fuzzy but overall it's very acceptable for a tv this size.
The sound from the internal speaker is amazing! I never would have guessed that the speaker would be that nice, but it is. However, it is only mono so if you plug in headphones the sound will only come out one side.
Also, the reception is very nice. I only needed to fully extend the antenna for 1 or 2 channels, the others were fine with it collapsed.
I'm returning mine simply because it doesn't have the A/V input jacks. However, I would definitely recommend this product.

TopStrengths: Easy to use. Picture is good.Very compact and the stand is a good addition.
Weakness: there was no DC or AC adaptors included. A kind of bare bones box etc.
The service from the selling company was great. I didn't even have time to use the 'tracking' service before the package arrived. The TV is easy to use. Picture is good. Very compact and the stand is a good addition. However, there was no DC or AC adaptors included. A kind of bare bones box etc.

TopStrengths: Portability; picture quality
Weakness: lack of channel indicator, no channel preset
It is good for travel. What is annoying me is that I have to press the tune button to get to my favorite channel every time I turn on the it or switch between VHF and UHF. But it is still a decent product for the performance/price.

Good TV - Need a lot of Batteries - Overall does a...
Strengths: Clear Picture, Easy to Hold, Small, Automatic Tuning, Small Stand in Back
Weakness: Uses a lot of power, no video inputs
This TV is pretty good overall. Based on its price and what it can do its a good deal. Automatic tuning, TV stand, and a nice pocket size make this TV pretty versatile. On the negative side, the batteries get eaten up by this TV. It takes 4 AA Batteries and they normally last a maximum of 5 hours (non-rechargeable). The TV is also fairly heavy because of the fact that its carrying the batteries. Overall, the TV does what its supposed to and does it well. I would recommend this TV to anyone who wants a basic function TV for a fair price.
