You could search the four corners of the earth for a stable and reliable power supply, but actually you need to look no further than Antec's TruePower Quattro! It is more compact than most competing power supplies of the same wattage, yet ideally suited for handling the most demanding system specs. TruePower Quattro is designed to meet the 80PLUS certification which means that Quattro consumes about 33 percent less energy than many equivalent power supplies with the same power output. Four 12V rails increase your system stability. Comes with four PCI-E connectors for powering one (or even two) of the newest generation of video cards. All modular cables are sleeved and labeled to give your system a clean and professional look-while the racing stripe paint job will add some extra style. minimize

5 Star Review Awesome power-supply

Strengths:

Cool design; plenty of power; 5-year warranty; plenty of modular cables; 80%+ efficiency

Weaknesses:

Expensive; might not fit in all cases; heavy!

Posted Sep 10, 2007 - I was going with two video cards in my setup, so decided to get more power than I really needed. Never know when I would add another optical drive and/or hard-drives! I like outward appearance of the design, the yellow racing stripes remind me of good old Speed Racer. First thing i noticed upon getting my UPS package was how darn heavy this thing was! It's about 9-10 lbs, which is considerably heavier than the Antec EarthWatts 500W that I was replacing. There are plenty of modular cables available, though the video and MB cables are not removeable. As I had to video-cards, this wasn't an issue. I did have problems reaching the CPU power supply to its connector next to the CPU (an Intel Q6600). I have an Antec P180 case, which has the PSU on the bottom of the case, so it's a long reach to the 5.25" devices on the top-front of the case (same goes for forementioned CPU cable). The other downside for my P180 case is that the power-supply is longer than a standard ATX supply, so it's a tight fit in the power-supply cage used by my case. This means I cannot fit the case fan and cables. As a result, I had to remove my fan. I realize this is custom stuff for my application, but do be aware that it is longer than normal. I like the fact that Antec provides an upgraded 5-year warranty, versus their standard 3-years. I only wish this thing was cheaper!!

5 Star Review Clean and stable power the most demanding components

Strengths:

4x Independent 12V Rails, 4x PCIe Connectors (2x 6pin + 2x 6+2(8)pin), 80PLUS Efficiency Certified, Modular, Paint job!

Weaknesses:

Not a single 12V Rail, Not all modular connectors can be used at once, Paint job may be not for everyone, Only 80mm fan.

Posted Nov 7, 2007 - After doing some lenghty research to figure out which power supply to get to replace a failing one, this came to be the good choice at the right time for the right price. Aside from not being a single 12V rail supply, there is almost nothing else you can find which this PSU isn't. It's powerful, modular, heavy (being a good thing for PSUs) and good looking (although some will disagree). But most importantly, it easily powers a heavily overclocked Core 2 Duo E6600 processor @ 3.6 GHz, 5 hard drives, 2 Optical drives, a 7800GT video card and a few other small devices. When installed in an Antec Nine Hundred case, it's a winner. Setup was a breeze, and modular connectors securely lock into place. My only rant is that not all connectors can be used and the ends are a bit uncompromising when it comes to twisting them to fit into place. Otherwise, if you need stable, clean power, this is a great choice, whether you are going SLI or Crossfire, and simultaneously overclocking your processor and/or video cards. And remember, it will only use the power your components need, it won't be constantly drawing 850W, only when the draw increases. And 80Plus certification mean that most of that power will really be used to work your components rather than heating your room, saving you on your electric bill.

5 Star Review Strong powerhouse of a power supply

Strengths:

Supports up to 850W, It doesn't look like every other power supply, Connectors are bound together and netted.

Weaknesses:

Heavy (although it could be a strength too), Fairly expensive.

Posted Nov 27, 2007 - The 850W TruePower Quattro Power Supply is great. It beats my other Antec power supply (650W) in terms of how much power it can deliver to my computer components. The power going into the components is very consistent (which is always good) and doesn't fluctuate. Along with my Nine Hundred case, the heaviness of the power supply is a strength because it makes the base heavier, but it's probably a weakness otherwise (since it would make it top heavy).

5 Star Review Great Power Supply

Strengths:

1) POWER 2) Efficiency 3) 80+% rated 4) Long Wires

Weaknesses:

1) Price (even though i got it for 120 including tax and shipping.) 2)Small Fan

Posted Nov 21, 2007 - Works great in my Antec 900 and my P5k Deluxe MB, two Nvidia 8800gt video cards, and all my other good stuff. Only worth buying this power supply if you are going to get some serious parts for your PC. Don't get it if you are getting basic stuff .

4 Star Review Lots of power!

Strengths:

Power, power, power! Modular design, cool paint scheme, built like a tank.

Weaknesses:

Small 80mm fan, expensive for most people.

Posted Nov 2, 2007 - If you are into building high end systems, then a good power supply is a must. This unit has plenty of power over 4 rails. I would have liked less rails and more power per rail, but this is a small drawback that won't affect most builds. This unit has a really nice paint effect that is unusual in power supplies. Perfect for the people that like to show off! Everything is well built and very heavy. They didn't skimp when they put this one together. Also, the modular design allows you to use only the wires that you need which makes it easier to keep things nice and tidy inside your case. Overall, I recommend this unit if you can afford the price.

5 Star Review 850W TruePower Quattro

Strengths:

lots of good stable power. modular. long cables with all needed connection types

Weaknesses:

too many 12v rails instead of one big one

Posted Oct 30, 2007 - This thing has some of the steadiest power out of any supply I've ever used. It doesn't fluctuate at all. It's nice and quiet, and it runs my system beautifully. I'm running a 680i EVGA board with a 2.4 ghz Core2Duo (E6600) overclocked to 3.0 ghz and a BFG 8800 GTX OC graphics card. Everything is smooth and fast. Also, I'm running it in an Antec 900 case which has some very large fans that suck up a decent chunk of power. (120 mm and 220 mm)

4 Star Review antec true power 850w

Strengths:

Cost, semi modular, adequate power, stripes are kind of cool

Weaknesses:

Single 80mm is noisy on load. grommets on sleeves

Posted Oct 15, 2007 - This is a fairly high quality psu for the price. the unit has stable rail voltages for todays hardware requirements. I like the longer sleeved cables. The 80mm fan is not loud but I prefer the 120mm fans. The efficiency for this unit could be better but for the price it is a very good value. I do not see how one could go wrong with this unit.

Weaknesses:

wire configuration

Posted Oct 14, 2007 - 1. Good power 2. However, needs a bit more amps. 3. Wire configuration needs improvement. 4. Nice modular design. 5. Easy to set up and use. 6. Sturdy 7. A bit heavy, but if that is why it is sturdy, then okay. ;)

3 Star Review Antec 850W TruePower Quattro Power Supply

Strengths:

Lots of Power

Weaknesses:

Brittle SATA power connectors, not enough modular ports.

Posted Oct 6, 2007 - So I bought the Antec power supply again because they have always been the best. This is the first modular style one I've tried. When installing, I had 3 SATA drives, 1 floppy, and 2 DVD/CD drives with molex power, and BFG 8800 Ultra video. So, used two PCI-E connectors for the video card, 1 SATA per hard drive (3 total), 2 molex for the CD/DVDs and 1 more molex for fans, and the floppy of course. One of the SATA power connectors broke from having a small amount of tension on the cable. Also, I ran out of black modular power ports way before using even half of the supplied cables. Also, the ports on the power supply where you plug in don't like to snap in securely, so several cords fell out. For the money spent, I would of not expected these kinds of problems.

4 Star Review Antec 850W TruePower Review

Strengths:

-Great design, sleek -Powerful -Modular, to give user a flexiblity to add as much wires you need.

Weaknesses:

Honestly for the two weeks I have owned it, I haven't found one yet...*knock on wood*

Posted Oct 5, 2007 - Well I am a fan of Antec products. This doesn't mean that I should be limited in my review. So I will state the bad thing about this. Well...nothing really. All I can say is that it supplies enough power for my computer and if I need to bump it up (SLi,more HDD,drives, quad core), I will still have enough to juice it. I guess one bad thing is that even though its modular enough to have people put whatever wires they need to connect. Some of the wires that it comes with is really hard to move the wires around, (not because of the size of the case). I guess another thing is that the AMPs on the 12 rail isn't the highest, but moderate. Certain guidelines should be met and if a certain thing needs more amps on the 12 rail then you might want to find something else since this is only 18 amps.
