Solid PSU!

Strengths:

Super quiet, solid build quality, 120mm fan, active power factor, dual 12v rails, 24/20 pin connector, 3 year warranty

Weaknesses:

None that I can think of other than the cables could have been sleeved. But they do include a plastic sleeving kit called Dr Cable.

Posted Jan 4, 2006 - My last PSU died on me and I wanted to get something that was reliable and well made. Seasonic is all that and more. This is a no-nonsense, no frills, type of power supply, made for durability, performance and reliability. I also wanted to future proof as much as I could, and this PSU supports dual cpu systems, 2 pci express connectors, and 4 sata connectors. Also forgot to mention that this PSU has a very high efficiency rating of about 80 to 85%. I don't think you can go wrong with this PSU if you're looking for something solid and reliable, plus quiet.

SEASONIC S12 500W POWER SUPPLY

Strengths:

very efficent, quite, cool operation

Weaknesses:

expensive, but operation costs and heat is lower

Posted May 6, 2006 - This is my second seasonic power supply as I was very pleased with the performace of their 330 watt model on an older P4 motherboard. This one drives an SLI mobo with an AMD opteron 165--all is well!

Super Quiet! Very Efficient.

Weaknesses:

Pricey but worth it.

Posted May 3, 2006 - I also bought the 430W version first. It was so good that I bought the 500W version also. This thing is silent! Great for HTPC use. My CPU and video card fans are noisier that the power supply. The new versions now have 2 PCI-E connectors and 6 SATA connectors. Check out the reviews at silent pc review. It will also save on your electricity bill. Over 80% efficient.

Seasonic puts the competition to shame!

Strengths:

Comes with a multitude of connectors. Highly efficient and DEAD SILENT. Not sort of quiet, not pretty quiet, dead silent.

Weaknesses:

Can be somewhat pricey, but then again you get what you pay for.

Posted Aug 21, 2006 - This power supply can be summed up in three words - silent but deadly. It's so quiet that I can barely hear it when I put my ear right next to it and its highly efficient design ensures that it won't be throwing out too much heat. It's got enough connectors to hook up just about any system out there. I just can't believe what a performer it is!
