andan - (February 10, 2006) This is without question the lamest computer product I have ever had the misfortune to try. Absolutely nothing on the box or the enclosed materials tells you that this thing WILL NOT WORK with Macintosh computers. Linksys' technical support is atrocious. I was on hold for more than an hour, then got some chippie who couldn't speak intelligible English. She didn't know there was a Mac OS X installer buried/hidden in the maze of folders on the CD, so she led me off to a Wellesley College Web site that had a five-year-old workaround for (get this) OS 8 and 9, except for 8.6. Rich. What century is this company doing business in? So, I found the hidden installer and clicked it. Guess what?

macmedix - (February 20, 2006) As a Mac user, I wasn't sure that this DLink device was going to work at all for AppleTalk, but it does. At first it didn't. (I hadn't read any of the instructions, figuring that they were just for windows users.) Ah ha! Now The Mac G4 (OS X 10.3.9) was easily able to see it as an "AppleTalk PostScript printer" I just needed to choose the driver; generic, or the actual printer name (Apple 16/600PS). It worked right away! :-) The factory default IP number seems to be 192.168.0.10, but on MY network it picked up a 192.168.2.104 DHCP IP number. Cool. That fits. After doing a ping scan to learn what IP number the DP301 was, I telnetted into it and looked at the settings. You can change

sapy2k - (February 24, 2006) First off, a network print server is a MUST-HAVE if you have a Home/Office LAN or Wireless-LAN, an existing USB printer, and several LAN users/PCs that want to share same printer INDEPENDENTLY from each PC. Ok, 3 THINGS YOU MUST KNOW ABOUT THE PS121 ------------------------------------------- 1. MULTI-FUNCTION PRINTERS CAN ONLY PRINT, but scan/copy/fax functions are NOT supported. Also, advanced printer functions like low-ink-warning are NOT supported. Netgear.com publishes a list of supported printers, follow this link: http://www.netgear.com/products/details/PS121.php ,then see link that says "List of printers that hav

bkalb - (02/18/2009) I was expecting something completely different. I hoped this system would work over TCP/IP, only to discover that the proprietary software was required for operation. Add to my disgust when the software was not able to detect the device on the network. FAIL!

Good Design; Poor Performance; Terrible Support
JohnLMiller - (02/03/2009) After several calls and many hours (literally) with over a dozen (again, literally) incompetent HP support technicians, I finally achieved agreement that the print server is malfunctioning (won't connect to an 802.11g network and requires frequent restarts to reconnect in 802.11b mode). Despite this, HP refused to replace it since it is connected to a printer (an HP CP2025dn) that is not on their limited (and incorrect) compatibility list. (It is noteworthy that the connected printer has no effect whatever on the performance issues with the print server.) This has been quite an enlightening experience: not only would I strongly recommend against buying this print server, but my long-standing brand loyalty for HP peripherals has ended. It’s apparent to me now that HP does not stand behind its products, and that HP's technical support would be similarly atrocious in other instances.

imteddy - (06/15/2008) I bought this device to share my printer with multiple computers over LAN. The print server has a default IP address which conflicts with my existing router. The print server does let me change the IP address but it automatically resets to the default IP address and results in an IP address conflict, and I loose internet connectivity. When it works, it did not give any problem with respect to identifying the printer and worked well. The accompanying software is not the best. Good for home and basic user use, not recommended for advanced users.
