Nice but with reservations

Strengths: Portable, Can print direct from the camera

Weakness: Supplies are expensive

This little printer is cool and makes great prints. It is small and lightweight, so a good choice as a second printer if you just want a seperate printer to print photos. The supplies are expensive though, so even on sale, each print costs about 20 cents. We buy prepaid print cards from Ritz camera which works out to about 18 cents per print and they are always excellent in quality. So besides the fact you don't have to wait or get in the car to go pick them up, prints made from this printer are more expensive than if you let the pros do it for you.

Canon SELPHY CP510 Dye Sublimation Printer

Strengths: The product meets our specifications for printing identification cards in the ID Systems we sell.

Weakness: Lack of availability. Canon changes their product line too soon w/o notice.

The 510 card printers are okay and fill our needs but they are not the best card printers made because of the quality of the paper cards that print on the machine. Also, Canon upgrades this type of printer to often causing shortages in the market. As for the printer itself, it has worked flawlessly in all the ID Systems we have sold.

Good results, but pricey prints

Strengths: As good as some commercial prints; small footprint; optional battery pack

Weakness: Prints are expensive, restricted to snapshot size and smaller (which require a separate adapter)

This is a dye-sublimation printer. No "ink" as such is used; rather, you insert print cartridges that transfer color to the pages in the cartridge. Unlike many ink-jet models, the output is waterproof, which is a big plus for some users. There's no need to buy separate paper or ink. My results were good to very good (but not excellent, as some images appeared a little washed out), and Canon rates the prints to last 100 years. It's also Pict-Bridge compatible for automatic use with cameras supporting that technology; however, a screen and flash card slots are missing. Cost: even with the lowest prices for cartridges I bought at Target, prints cost more than 33 cents each for a 4x6. Your local drug store probably has better per-print prices. And, the unit itself is pricey, unless you can take advantage of a rebate.

I only have Canon cameras, which are completely compatible with this unit; your mileage may vary for other companies' cameras. In a pinch, this is good for snapshots, if you don't want to head to the drug store or wait on delivery from on-line services. Since I paid only $10 for the unit after a rebate, I can't complain about the price. However, I would hesitate to spend more than $50 for the unit.

Very good printer

Strengths: 1. Print quality is beautiful, and in a league apart from inkjets, though I did notice a white (unprinted?) speck or two on two different pictures and in different places (out of four that I have thus far printed). 2. Very portable, though as another r

Weakness: The primary problem is consistency. I've printed the same photo 5 times (it comes with an ink cassette and "postcard sized" paper for 5 prints), each time the resulting print has some errors, generally yellowish blotches, a speck here and there. etc. I

This is an excellent photo printer. I'm a photo enthusiast and I've had photos printed from online shops like Kodakgallery and printed the same photos on this printer for comparison. I can't tell any difference between the photos from the online print shops and the ones from the printer. The only annoying thing about this printer is that the print proportions do not exactly fit 4x6 print proportions. For most people this won't be a problem, but because I very carefully crop my photos so that exactly what I crop is what will print, it's annoying that pieces of the photo get cut off. I get around this by adjusting the length width proportions so that they will fit on the printer page.

Great compact photo printer

Strengths: Compact portable, good quality photos, easy to use

Weakness: Expensive paper and ink

I enjoyed having a portable compact photo printer since at times I want to conveniently print photos from my laptop. But I don't expect to do that often since each print is relatively costly because of the cost of Dye-sub ink and paper. Photo quality is good, meeting my expectation. Easy to use and photo printing is possible without hookup to computer. Kind of dissapointed with the size of the power adapter. Its size is typical/normal (like the typical one for laptops). I was expecting it to be smaller as it was considered "compact" on the box and ads.

Portable and Good Quality

Strengths: Portable, QUIET

Weakness: None

It has good quality with great pricing. This unit is certainly perfect for non professional photo prints. prints I've made so far have been great. The interface is very easy to use with a couple of nice features added.

Also keep in mind that the printer only comes with a starter ink and paper set. It would be best to buy the full 100 picture pack at the time you purchase the printer so you can have no interruptions when the starter ink runs out of color.

Ths printer was worth every cent I paid for it.

Great Photo Printer

Strengths: Small, ergonomic, cheap

Weakness: None

Print quality is excellent. The print is very clear and the color is true. You cannot go wrong with this printer.

I like this printer because of it's portability and 110-240 volt power range.

I would heartily recommend this printer to anyone looking at photo printers.

canon CP-510

Strengths: compact, portable, great for travel use.

Weakness: paper expensive

I used it for about two months now, the quality is good, but the price per print is more expensive than online prints. It's a good toy if you like to print your own photos.

Canon Selphy CP510 Photo Printer

Strengths: small size, quality pictures

Weakness: No USB Cabel, Expensive Ink

I bought this compact photo printer only because i got it for a good price. I printed 5 pictures and it ran out of ink. Refill is expensive. So I did not refill it. Five pictures it printed was very good quality. It is not worth spending 40 to 50 bucks on it because you will get only four to six photos with ink that comes with it. I rather get the photos printed on-line. Yes I understand that it is compact and easy to use, but if you don't get enough pictures for what you pay than it is not worth.

SELPHY CP510 Portable Photo Printer

Strengths: Professional printing and quality

Weakness: only 4 papers included, proprietary ink/paper

This is a great little printer. The print quality is superior to those produced by the professionals. The only drawback was that the printer only included 4 sheets of photo paper and enough ink to print only 4 sheets. 4 SHEETS!!! C'mon.... how cheap can Canon get.

SELPHY CP510 PHOTO PRINTER

Strengths: Compact, print direct from camera, quality pictures

Weakness: cost of ink

It takes me less than ten minutes to set up and print my first pictures. It is very easy to use and portable. It is dye-sublimation so the print is way beyond any ink-jet could do. The print color is wonderful and bright but the cost per print is very high. The largest size that the selphy can print is 4x6, anything above that you have to use other option. Very nice and compact printer highly recommended even the cost of ink is pretty high.

Canon SELPHY CP510 Portable Photo Printer

Strengths: Small, compact, print beautiful pictures, easy to use.

Weakness: No USB cable

I only use it for two weeks so far and really see better pictures print out then Epson and HP. With the printer prices go down and rebates, I am able to try new printer instead of buying new catridges. It is small, compact, print beautiful pictures, easy to use. I don't know why manufacturer does not include USB cable.

SELPHY CP510 Portable Photo Printer

Strengths: compact, nice shape, high photo quality

Weakness: refill expensive

This is a very nice compact photo printer, which prints photoes of much better quality than normal ink photo printer does. I like it. But the refill is very expensive compared to normal ink photo printer.

Canon Selphy CP510

Strengths: small, inexpensive, easy to use, good quality pictures

Weakness: expensive consumables (paper, ink, etc.)

This printer is very easy to set up and use. The quality of printed photos is excellent. However, the printer only includes enough paper to print four photos. The real cost of this printer is when you need more paper/ink. These consumables are very expensive. Other than that, it is a excellent product.

selphy!

Strengths: portable, excellent print quality

Weakness: ink!!!

I love this printer. It prints superb, professional looking photographs fast and furious. But....the ink goes soooo fast and you have to use proprietary photo papers. Nevertheless, this is my favorite photo printer because I can take it on vacations, etc.

Canon SELPHY CP510 Portable Photo Printer

Strengths: compact photo printer, very nice pictures

Weakness: a little bit pricy for the ink

I am pretty satisfied with this printer so far, especially the small size and great picture quality, Although, I sometimes need to print photos with a large size, for example, 8 x 11.5, then I have to use my IP3000, a good photo printer too.

SELPHY CP510-Might Little Guy!

Strengths: Easy to use. Good print quality. Fast printing. 300-dpi dye-sublimation technology with a protective coating (photos are claimed to last 100 years). A built-in retractable USB cable.

Weakness: A little bluish color quality.

I am satisfied with this compact printer. Perfect compatibility with my Canon S50. Printing seems fast (58 seconds for a 4X6 photo) and the quality is very good, although the overall color tends to be a little bluish. I like the fact that I can mail those photos like postcards. My 7-year-old daughter took a picture of herself and printed it with this printer. She's sending the postcard photo to her grandparents for greetings. A cute idea!

SELPHY CP510 Portable Photo Printer (300x300 DPI,...

Strengths: quick, high resolution, compact

Great compact photo printer for family fun

Strengths: compact, easy to use, great picture quality,

Weakness: need special Canon ink

We got one about two weeks ago. We are very impressed by the photo print quality out of this little box. The printer is very easy to operate even my 7 years old son can do the print by himself. The photo quality looks better than the prints from Costco. Just got back from a family trip and arrived home at 9pm but my kid was anxious to bring some trip photo to share with his class the following day. We were able to print out my son's favorite pictures by this compact printer and enjoyed more family fun by DIY. Sure, the inkjet and paper set are quite pricey but this is a great printer for the family fun.

Small highly portable printer

Strengths: size, compactness, easy to use, nice color,

Weakness: Expensive ink

It is a nice small compact photoprinter. Quite smaller than epson picturemates and HP photosmart portable printers.

I brought it because of its size, eventhough I have owned picturemate and photomart portables. The print quality is nice and color is superb.

good printer

Strengths: small size; very convenient

Weakness: cost of ink supply is kind of high

I bought this at a very good price (about $40). The quality of the picture is very satisfied. The speed is also fast. The best thing is that you can print your picture directly from the camera. However, you have to buy special paper (with frame) to print your picture. Anyway, I still recommend it, I will rate it at score 8 for a 10 scale rating.

Good printer for the price

Strengths: Good price. Great photo quality. Print without a computer.

Weakness: Ink and paper too expensive.

Got this printer for about $30 after rebates. Great price.

Great photo quality, and you can print without a computer. However, ink and paper are kind of expensive.

Over all, a good printer for the price I paid.

not perfect

Strengths: good prints, waterproof, tiny size

Weakness: NOT 4"x6" prints, perferated edges on the sides of the prints

Cool idea, except the perferated edges and the awkward print size is making me regret my purchase. Not to mention, all the photos have the tacky postcard layout on the back. I really like Canon, but their Dye Sub print format disappoints me.
