Strengths:The indoor flash brightens the dimmest areas. You can take pics indoor with great clarity & colors, that you'd never be able to with many non-digital cameras
Weaknesses:The batteries, although they recharge through the printer, they won't allow lengthy photo snapping sessions, especially if you use the video feature.
Posted Oct 3, 2006 - I am SO surprised how great this camera set is. I purchased it for a great price at Amazon recently and thought that the battery-recharging ability, the hook-up to TV to view pics, the photo/printer "station", and the fact that I've seen good reviews for it, made it a good choice, but I was expecting to find problems in picture quality. So far there are none. It takes great flash pics.... 13" large pics taken in low light interior rooms have no graininess. Indoor settings often look more colorful & better looking then they do in reality, with this camera. Flattering & bold colors.
I was surprised that I was able to hook it up to the TV to view pics, with not having a recent model of TV (mine is a 1995 model), but I was able to connect it thru my VCR's Video/Audio Input ports. The pics look GREAT on TV, and allows you to select the "keepers" without the hazzle of turning on computer.
The flash, on automatic, will work whenever needed with no adjustments, same as all the camera settings automatically adjust to take great pics, but I find I prefer little less flash and other adjustments, as in shutter settings, when I am taking photos of people, in order to play-down appearance "flaws" and to get a little LESS clarity. Thats how GOOD this camera is....it shows so much detail.
Even without image & color "fixing" done on your computer (with the included software), the pics come right out of the camera with brighter hues than they have in real life. Mainly, image "fixing", accomplished on the computer, isn't needed with this camera, unless you want to do something special, or to tone down the bright colors & details on "inperfect" looking people, or for cropped pics.
I am very satisfied with this camera. It does need a separately purchased memory card, unless you don't take many pics at a time, and the batteries will need recharging after a few pics (around 20, depending on various factors). This process can take nearly 24 hours, so the best solution is to have a set of 2 rechargeable lithium batteries on stand-by, charged, or alternate with 2 alkaline batteries (dont use alkaline & lithuium at same time). I haven't tried alkaline batteries, and would expect poorer flash & colors if using an inexpensive alkaline battery.
