Weaknesses: More paper curling than the HL-1440 I had before. Envelopes come out wrinkled.
Overall, I am delighted with this printer. Print speed is fast and the auto duplexing is extremely useful to me: I frequently print out long informational documents for clients, and this printer makes it a breeze. Setup of the second paper tray was a mystery until I called Brother product support and they told me how to do it: you have to go to Printers and Faxes from the start menu, right click on the printer, and select Properties then Accessories. As far as I can tell this is nowhere in the supplied documentation. As mentioned above, paper comes out more curled than with my previous Brother laser printer, and envelopes come out a little wrinkled (also not a problem with the HL-1440). Despite these relatively minor weaknesses, I would recommend this printer.
