2 Star Review How much toner is left?

Strengths:

As a basic FAX it does well - I'd buy it again except for one problem.

Weaknesses:

There is no way to tell from the control panel or the toolbox application when the toner is running low. I couldn't believe this but HP support confirmed it. You need to check the page count & guess.

Posted May 15, 2008 - We use this in an office that gets faxes over the weekend - our office manager was not happy when she had to call a bunch of folks back because the toner cartridge ran out. We can only guesstimate based on average page count since last change. Too bad - it's a good machine otherwise.

4 Star Review Great AIO printer with attractive price when you get MIR

Strengths:

Great quality All-In-One printer, easy to setup, fast warm up and printing.

Weaknesses:

None so far

Posted Oct 16, 2006 - Hewlett-Packard has very reliable laser printers. This one among other AIOs, is good for home office and small business use. Cost only $150 after $150 MIR, a very attractive price, even cheaper than a single function laser printer. However HP will make profit over toners. The printing quality is great, and setup is easy and fast.

2 Star Review Hp Laser Jet 3050 support

Strengths:

Fast

Weaknesses:

Fax formatter board goes bad quickly. Copies are blurry.

Posted Apr 4, 2007 - Faxes are received as bar codes. HP knows there is a problem with the formatter board but it took several calls to customer support for the problem to be acknowledged. To fix this under warranty, HP wants to charge $50 for a refurbished copier sent overnight. I want the copier repaired at no cost at the local repair center but HP will not send the part. The part is backordered with a delivery date that moves back as each delivery date arrives.

4 Star Review LaserJet 3050 All-In-One Printer

Strengths:

Clean, sharp type output, quiet, fast. Holds large amount of paper in tray. Makes great-looking copies quickly. Easy set-up.

Weaknesses:

Rather large footprint on desktop, also quite tall. Also, no flatbed for scanning books and items that are not flat.

Posted Nov 15, 2006 - This is my first laser printer. I use it with the Mac OS X and had no problem setting it up and getting it running. The driver does lack some of the automated features that can be used on a PC, but so far I have not minded this too much. I have not yet run it through all of its paces. I have yet to use the OCR features with the scanner or to send a fax. I am glad to have these features but they are not the primary reason I purchased this printer. The price I paid at PCNation.com was $281.50 and that included S&H. With the $150. rebate from HP, this is a bargain. The cost of the replacement toner cartridge is about $70. but I expect that I wont have to buy them very often.

Weaknesses:

little bulky, can't scan from book

Posted Nov 27, 2006 - This all in one printer is good for household use, it have fast printing speed ,quality prints, quick scanning but one thing I don't find in it is that flatbed feature , so I can't scan from book. It is less noisy. Price I paid for it is also reasonable. Overall good for general purpose.

5 Star Review Best value for the buck

Strengths:

Fast

Weaknesses:

None

Posted Oct 21, 2006 - After having different AIOs including Brother 7820N and Samsung SCX-4521F I just I love this HP model 3050. This is what makes it better then the rivals: 1. Quiet - comparing to the Brother MFC and my Laser printer Minolta 1350W. 2. Fast - printing w/o noticable initial "warming" lag - thanks to Instant-On! 3. Power usage - energie efficient in both work and standby modes - not tripping my APC too. 4. Relatively fast color scans - not like with Brother MFC or Samsung. 5. ADF works flawlessly - load papers, press "Scan" button and it will do the rest. 6. Scanning options - is really nice to have that many programmable scanning modes with one touch of the button! You can configure AIO scan menu with different "actions" - even scan to different computers on the network. 7. OCR software is included. 8. Overall build quality with lots of options. So I my opinion, it is really the best in its class since there is a 50% off retail promo for October.

4 Star Review hp LaserJet 3050 AIO

Strengths:

Compact, sturdy, fast

Weaknesses:

Small feeder tray, flimsy attachments

Posted Dec 4, 2006 - This HP all in one is built well and sturdy. The front interface panel is easy and intuitive. This AIO also doesn't take up much real estate, rather it is built taller. The start-up/warm-up is quick. I LOVE the copy feature the best. It starts printing even before it's done scanning the original. And the printing is fast and clean as you would expect from a laser printer. The only weaknesses I see are the paper catchers that you snap on. They're very delicate; I'm almost afraid of breaking them off everytime I accidentally hit them. Also, the paper feeder tray can't hold a lot of paper. You waste time having to refill it with paper often if the machine is heavily used. Overall I recommend this affordable AIO machine over all others.

4 Star Review Hp 3050

Strengths:

Fast, can Fax, fast heating up

Weaknesses:

none

Posted Nov 4, 2006 - This is a great all in one laser printer. You can fax, copy, print and scan. It warms up pretty fast. The only complaint is that it comes with only half filled toner cartridge for 2000 pages. Good price of only $150. Easy to setup

4 Star Review Great Fax experience

Strengths:

Fast fax, short warming time Quick paper feed speed

Weaknesses:

Only 30 pages feeder The toner only good for 2000 pages Stupid front panel interface

Posted Jul 10, 2006 - This is is nice fax machine. Compared to my pervious inkjet fax, this one is way fast then ever. Thanks for the big memory (64mb), this machine loaded all my pages (I tried 6 pgaes) before it actual dial the number. The only thing I want to complaine is their front panel interface. When I tried to change some setting, I found that there are no way to go back to pervious menu. I have to go back and forth several time to finish setup.

4 Star Review HP 3050

Strengths:

Compact, fast, good looking, good value

Weaknesses:

flat bed scan and network ready will be a plus

Posted Jan 2, 2007 - This AIO printer is very fast printing, good looking and I got it at $150 so it is pretty reasonable price. It is light weight and compact. The replacement cartidge is pretty expensive, just like other laser toner.

2 Star Review Am I the only one noticing this?

Strengths:

Fast Processing of faxes, Reliability.

Weaknesses:

A big One for me: This machine does not decipher between Grayscale/photo images I fax as opposed to straight text and does not offer a choice to send as text mode as opposed to a photo/grayscale.

Posted Jan 3, 2007 - A big One for me: This machine does not decipher between Grayscale/photo images I fax as opposed to straight text and does not offer a choice to send as text mode as opposed to a photo/grayscale. What does this mean? Well to the sender it means that I am unable to send more than three pages of an invoices at a time. With my older Brother Fax, I could send as many copies as I wanted of the "yellow or pink" copy of our invoices to our customers who requested a ref-ax without any problem. With this HP machine, it thinks of these colour invoice copies as Photo's and the full colour of the sheets uses up all the memory of the Fax machine scanner thereby allowing only 3 sheets at a time faxing which is ridiculous and a major pain since I have to photocopy all the carbon invoices to plain white paper and even then, it's iffy that the fax will distinguish as a plain white sheet with text. And even worse is for the person recieving the faxes. Because they are being sent as photo images, they take FOREVER to recieve at the other end and that is bad news for a retailer waiting for an invoice copy that is taking forever to recieve while they are in major need of the Credit Card terminal on the same line as thier fax. This is a MAJOR fault of HP. When I called HP obviously assuming I could select a "Text only" mode the service department at HP said I was not able to and I was stuck with what I have. That is a major downside to this machine for any business like ours. Just plain stupid in my opinion.

4 Star Review General Comment: Good!!

Strengths:

Relibable all-in one printer, fast printing rate, and the good quality of fax

Weaknesses:

The size is a little bit huge for household use

Posted Oct 12, 2006 - Reasonable price (below 150 bucks after mail-in rebate or instant discount-depend on where you buy it!!). It is almost cheaper than single function laser printer. Its size may be a problem if you don't have a huge working table at home. Suggust to place it over an individual small table.

4 Star Review Cant beat it for the price

Strengths:

Fast, will do everything that you would need in a small office. Laser vs the price of ink. Very good all around printer.

Weaknesses:

none yet

Posted Apr 19, 2007 - Impressive little printer. The printer was bought to replace a fax and a business ink jet. Ink was costing way to much. The printer is very quick and fax function works very well. The copy function works great for a quick copy. No waiting for the copier to be free if you need a copy. We use it in a office for a person who needs access to a fax and make limited copies. For the money, you cant beat it.
