I do a lot of B/W printing for my home business and using my inkjet printer was expensive. Looked for an inexpensive laser printer to decrease my printing costs. This printer cost $50 (after rebate) and includes a standard toner cartridge (estimated 1800 pages). Replacement toner cartridge is about $80 (est 3600 pages). Between the low initial cost and the huge amount of pages that a toner cartridge lasts for, this printer is a low-cost leader. Unlike, inkjet printers where the initial cost is low, but you pay through the nose for ink refills, this printer has a low initial cost and replacement toner cartridges are a value when you consider that each page only costs 2 cents to print.

I don't have any complaints. The paper tray is fine (others have griped out cheap quality), similar quality to inkjet printer quality. This printer makes no more noise than any other laser printers. The print speed is fairly impressive for such a small device.

Purchased this printer as an additional in our office. We have an HP All In One 3200 and an older Samsung 1210. This printer kicks both of them in the rear. The printer is very quick to get your document out and wastes no time. Once you hit the print button by the time you turn around it's there!

I've always used inkjet printers for home use until I purchased this Samsung printer. It's speed is excellent and it doesn't take up much space. Overall, it's an excellent machine for the money.

TopStrengths: Fast, once it gets started. Hopefully a lower TCO than comparable HP Laserjets.
Weakness: For some reason the fuser needs to get extremely hot (hotter than any of my HP laserjets), and this takes time and energy. It also takes a fan which makes this unit very noisy.
I got this printer because it is inexpensive both to purchase and to stock with toner. I leave the printer on because it appears that everytime you turn this printer on, it prints a test page. I'm also not crazy about the fact that this printer installs a TSR program in the tray, by default. It is something I will have to try to remove when I get the chance.

TopStrengths: Fast and true to the advertised ppm. Compact. Simple and easy to use. Also easy to set up on a network. Relatively cheap.
Weakness: Eats a lot of power (lamp near the printer flickers when it's in use). On/Off button hard to reach (there's only the main power switch behind the printer). Somewhat noisy, especially during warm up.
I've been looking for a cheap laser printer for college use and decided to go with this after looking at several black and white laser printer reviews online and in magazines. Suffice to say, I'm very pleased with this printer thus far.
It lasts a whole lot longer than the inkjet printer I upgraded from (my inkjet cartridge lasted only 40 pages or so). I'm still running good on the starter cartridge that comes with the printer and I've printed about 4 or 5 Powerpoint lectures worth of material (each lecture has about 30-40 pages). Also, I think some people are concerned about paper curling with these types of printers. There is some slight curling, but it goes back to straight after a few seconds so it's no big deal.
Regarding the weaknesses: Yeah there are some, but none of those are significant enough to be annoying.
If you're looking for a cheap good laser printer for college or school use, this is great.

I really like this printer. I also have a Brother HL-2040 and although they are similar, I like the Samsung ML-2510 better because it is faster and has quieter operation.

Weakness: Can't print t-shirt transfers
This printer is great. Do not attempt to print t-shirt transfers. It uses heat to apply printed image onto paper. My t-shirt transfer paper got rolled onto the drum of the printer. I had to open the drum cover and get the t-shirt transfer by cutting it along the drum and pulling it out by chunks with tweezers.

TopStrengths: Prints fast and the print quality is very good, which is why you buy a printer.
Weakness: Sounds like a vaccum cleaner when it starts up. Cheap paper trays, in and out. Instructions in every language but english, but setup is simple without the need to learn german or italian.
Bottom line is that this printer prints nice text and is fast. The construction seems good but the paper trays are very flimsy and cheap looking. If it holds up and you buy on sale then this feels like a good deal($50-$70). It is loud when it starts to print and as I've seen on other reviews the lights do dim when I plug it in. Wonder if this will effect my electric bill. : ) The setup instruction section headers were in english and the details were in 10 different languages, just not english. However setup is simple without the instructions.

TopStrengths: Fast response time as well as print time. Small & compact
Weakness: a bit noisy when it starts up, but that lasts for only a second or two. Paper comes out on top of printer and since I have it under my computer it is hard to see that documents have printed.
Glad I switched form an ink jet to a laser. Watched for a sale and got it for $49.99. The toner price is higher than what I was paying for my ink jet, but the # of copies per cartridge makes the laser printer a cheaper printer per page.

TopKluetken, can you tell us how many pages (of normal coverage, say 5%) did you get out of Samsung's toner cartridge? Does Samsung include a "starter cartridge" with a new printer, that's got far less toner in it to start? If so, do they sell a "standard" or "high capacity" cartridge(s) as well? Answers would be MOST helpful to learning this printer's price per copy (PPC) and total cost of ownership (TCO).
The toner cartridge that comes with the printer is listed with a 1000 page capacity. The ones off the shelf are listed with 3000 page capacity. So you get a lower capacity cartridge to start with. Prices for the replacement 3K cartridge range from 60-100 CAD, depending on manufacturer and seller .....
Spiderling: Thanks for your post on toner capacity. Have you run across the chip in the cartridges that come with printer that apparently limits printing by # of pages printed (even if lots of toner left in cartridge) rather than toner being gone? OEM cartridges probably have it, but do the replacement (3000 copy) cartridges also? Perhaps only if Samsung brand cartridges rather than generic refills?? I'm also in Canada so your experience would be helpful.
Strengths: a little noisy at startup but like the others said, lasts only a couple of seconds. so fast it practically throws the pages out at you. not as small as my last epson laser but still fits in its place

this is the first time i've ever set up any piece of equipment and it was so easy. if i can do it anyone can. staples sells it for 129.99 and has a rebate on it of $60. i think it ends on 3/31 tho. all in all i love this printer...the quality of the text and the speed are second to none.

Great little Laser printer. I have inkjet printers previously and had to change cartridge very often. At this this comes with decent starer kit and also refills are cheap if you buy refill kits on auction sites.
Print quality is also very good. Fits easily under my computer desk. great printer to replace your old inkjet printers

Why do the replacement toners cost more than the laser printer? I guess it's the old razor blade economic model, but with personal laser printers under $75 (wait for a sale) it's often cheaper buying a new printer than getting a new toner (though that's not helpful to the environment). Alternatively, you could just get a refill kit and refill the toner for $10.

I'm so glad I found this printer, recommended by a friend. It's hard to find simple black and white "production" printers . . . I just print out lots of reading documents, not photos, so inkjet photo printers really cost me unnecessary money on the ink. This one prints fast, is simple, and really "puts it out"--the purchase price was great, the money saved on ink compared to an ink jet printer will be wonderful. This printer is perfect for someone who does a lot of word-processed documents in a home office, or just needs a good utility black and white printer for everyday use.

TopStrengths: Was really great when new. Fast, reliable.
Weakness: Toner is outrageously expensive. I bought a non-OEM toner replacement because of the high price, and the non-OEM toner leaks.
What a great printer:
-Nice drivers that don't clog the system (far better than HP in this regard!)
-Clear, good quality BW printouts that inkjets just can't touch.
however...
-The starter toner cartridge didn't last long at all.
-The OEM ML2010D3 toner is really pricey (like 70 bucks).
-I've found the same power consumption issues others mentioned (this thing makes the lights dim and the UPS kick on occasionally).
-Beware of the non-OEM toner out there. I bought bad toner from accstation.com. It looked like a good deal, but it leaked all over the place, and causes streaks on the pages. I'm on the third toner in a year because of these issues.

Weakness: Hard to say since i might have had a defective unit. Did not work on an airport base station when attached to the usb port.
I am not sure if i received a bad unit. When i first would power up the unit it knocked my UPS into battery mode. So I unplugged it from that unit and straight to another APC voltage regulator. Each time i turned it on and off it would trip something on the APC. I also had problems printing each time the machine went off then i turned it back on. It would kill my entire usb hubs so i had to restart my computer. I returned this item and bought an HP.

Probably best combination of price and quality around
Strengths: Price, quality of print is good
Weakness: Cheap plastic feel
I have long been impressed by the value for money of Samsung products. This printer is no exception. In a relatively small footprint delivers great print quality at a reasonable speed for the home office. Good thing it comes with a Vista driver CD.
The cabinet feels a bit cheapo though, but the negative impression fades when you get used to it.
