You got what you paid!

Strengths: good print quality, it can copy and scan.

Weakness: Really slow print, bad configuration setting, ink goes fast!

I would not return it, but definitely not recommend buying!
The setup is easy. The copy and scan functions work well.
The print works well too, but just way too slow! Take 1-2 minutes to start a print job. Maybe 2.7PPM is its actual speed. If you have lots of print, don't buy it.
The printer configuration is also annoying. Even you choose print BW page, it comes out color if your page is color.
Caution: Ink goes really fast. But you can buy cheap inks online, about $6 each.

Overall, it works for the occasional use, not heavy-duty job.

a heroin like addiction to ink

Strengths: All in one, would not budge in a gail

Weakness: Burns ink like a fish drinks water

The chief fault is run away ink consumption. Did I mention run away ink consumption. Really. Class action quality frankly. In fact the last class action suit against Epson landed me this one. The thing is also a brute. Getting it just for the scanner involves sacrificing a lot of space too.

Strengths: prints great

Weakness: scans awful, uses ink like a big fat hog and cartiges arent cheap if you can find them.

Dont do it, you might as well kick yourself in the rear. This printer is sent straight from the farm, the crazy farm. You gotta be a wacko to buy this one. Wacked out

Epson CX5000 Junk and Terrible customer support

Strengths: None

Weakness: Ink Usage, Clogged heads, Customer Service

I purchased this Epson CX5000 and at first everything was fine until I replaced the third set of ink.

I was getting streaks in the black and I printed a nozzle check and did a cleaning twice - The Ink levels showed Expended !!!!!

I called Epson and they sent out new ink cartridges but the black was on back order - when I called the Epson store to purchase ink, they had plenty So, I called tech support and all they could tell me is that it was on backorder and would ship when it came in (even though I told him that THEIR Epson store had it in stock) Well, mysteriously it showed up the next day Via FedEx

Well - I installed the new ink and could not get the black clean and after 5 cleanings the ink shows expended and the black is still not cleaned.

I called Epson again and talked to several tech support reps and was told to buy a new one or go to another printer company - That's some customer support !!!

So, I guess Epson is comfortable with their products lasting three ink changes so you can throw it out and buy another Epson - Well,

I WILL NEVER, EVER BUY ANOTHER EPSON AS LONG AS I LIVE !!!!!!!!

Especially since this is the third Epson I have tossed in the trash for the same problem

Good printer for the price

Strengths: Color LCD, built-in media card reader, fast printing, scanning and copying, direct photo printing

Weakness: No fax

I purchased this printer as part of a copmuter bundle and after a mail-in-rebate it was almost free. It has been working GREAT since I bought it. I wish, it had a fax. Anyway, many all-in-ones do not have fax at the price point I purchased this printer. I have been so far very satisfied with it.

Worth Its Price

Strengths: All-in-one, cheap price (if promotional offer), media-card reader built-in.

Weakness: Seems to run out of ink quickly, no fax, slow printing

I bought this printer as part of a promotional offer, and I get it for really cheap. Well, I got what I paid for. The printing is slower than what is written on the box, so it's only adequate for home use. The con of this printer is that it seems to run out of ink quickly, so you will need to buy a high capacity black cartridge. Also, apparently, there's a glitch on the ink chip that indicates a low level of ink, even when there's plenty left. From what I gathered, Epson fixed this in subsequent releases.

Not even worth free!

Strengths: it was free! I guess I can say the quality of the print was good.

Weakness: slow, very thirsty for ink that is costly and the printer is problematic.

This printer is really not even worth it at FREE! The ink it came with was out in no time flat. When one ink cart is out, you can forget about printing anything in another color. The quality of the print was good but still not worth it when you factor in the cost of ink this printer will consume.

I'm gonna pass next time.

Strengths: Media card reader, scanner, good quality prints.

Weakness: High ink consumption, slow printing

First off a good note about this printer. It's relatively cheap (especially with the promotions usually offered), and it creates high quality photo prints.

However, it sucks up A LOT of ink. Just in the past week alone, my black ink is just about depleted. If you buy this printer, I would recommended getting some continuous ink system as opposed to the genuine Epson inks. In addition, it seems to print much slower than specs, so be aware of this.

Epson Stylus CX5000 All-In-One Printer

Strengths: Cheap, print–scan–copy functions, good quality, (relatively cheap) generic ink available, card reader

Weakness: Individual ink cartridges, will not print if any cartridge is empty, requires frequent refills

I bought this printer for a great price after rebate from a local office supply store. Its probably my 4th or 5th Epson printer - I buy them when they are FAR, then just use them as I need them. I would say this printer is on par or below average compared to the Epson AIOs I have used in the past – good prints but uses a lot of ink which can be costly to replace. I would not pay full price for it – it frequently is on sale for cheap or FAR either by itself or in a bundle. I would also look for a decent quality generic ink that works with this – the Epson cartridges are very expensive. The card reader supports CF, SD, MMC, XD and MS/PRO. It scans fine – good quality, and I have had no problems with paper jams. My only real complaint relates to the ink.

I would only recommend this printer if you can get it free or FAR. This way you can try it out and see if it will work for you. If you are going to go out and pay full price for a printer, I would choose a different one as there is a fair chance you will be disappointed.

A printer which can also scan and copy

Strengths: Do the jobs of print, scan and copy. Color quality is ok

Weakness: Use up your ink fast, noisy, expensive ink

This is an ok all in one printer. Unless you got it free otherwise not recommend to spend 80 bucks on it. It is heavy, big and not easy to set up. It uses your ink very quickly and you can use generic brand ink instead of expensive epson ink. The printing quality is still ok.

Color Printer, Copier & Scanner

Strengths: (1) 3 in 1 & (2) space saver

Weakness: Ink is a little expensive

Make decent color prints. However the cost of the ink is not cheap (true with most other inkjets). I use it mainly as a color scanner. Now i have most file in electronic format. It also do not take that much space.

A good AIO printer

Strengths: This AIO does pretty much all, print, scan, copy. Quality is ok.

Weakness: Expensive ink, heavy

This all in one printer can print black and white, color, and also scan/copy documents. It prints pretty fast, at 27 pages per min. And the color quality is ok. The scanner gives a good resolution but it is quite slow to scan. The package comes with some inks but they are fast to drain out. New inks are very expensive but you can find cheap substitutes.

CX5000

Strengths: Cheap, fast, reliable

Weakness: Ink-drinker

The printer prints, scans and copies very fast, however the print quality is OK. Be aware this printer uses ink catridges like anything and because of this I would not recommend it.

Good quality and nice price

Strengths: good quality and relatively low price

Weakness: too much ink-consuming

The price of this printer is low. It is very easy to install and simple to use. It's also an all-in-one printer which comes in handy - in case you run out of ink and don't wanna spend more money on ink you can use it simply as scanner. The quality of prints is pretty decent. the big issue of this printer is very ink-consuming, but the good thing is its cartridges are quite cheap compared to others.

Inexpensive Scanner, Ptinter & Copier

Strengths: Samll & multi function

Weakness: Ink is a little expensive

I use this mainly as a scanner (to fax things to people) and it does a good job. It also does not take much space. It also does a good job of printing and coping, but the cost per page is a little high so I use these functions conservatively.

Epson CX5000 All in One

Strengths: Print Scan Copy

Weakness: Uses up lot of Ink

Epson CX5000 all in one uses individual cartridges so which ever is out replace only that cartridge. Uses up a lot of ink. Scanning is slow. Quality of print is good. Can print photo also.

Same printer with a few tweaks

Strengths: simple, cheap generic ink available

Weakness: big. Lots of wasted space to make it fit the breadbox shape. Software is not horrible reliable.

Epson has been putting out these breadbox AIO (all in one) printers for a few years now. In all truth, they are all pretty much the same. The scanner may scan in (marginally) higher rez. The printer might print slightly more DPI, but it is the same printer. This one has a nice, but somewhat superfluous card reader built onto the side. The concept is that you can print photos without a computer. The reality is that no one actually does that.

The software works well when it works. The scanning drivers / libraries seem to take exception to random software installation and will stop working entirely and just crash until you re-install the whole software package. Epson should really look in to that.

Sadly the CX5000 went to production before the lawsuit was cemented that epson lost and had to pay on so massively in early 2007. Therefore it refuses to let you print if you are merely running low on ink (note.. not out of ink, just low). Thankfully this can be resolved with a very cheap reset device off ebay. Epson could likely fix this with a software update but I have not seen one as of yet.

In terms of printing, it works quite nicely. Epson printers have a very nice greyscale / black ability. The scanning works well and the software (as long as it works) for scanning is quite nice.

a nice All in one machine

Strengths: nice looking

Weakness: short ink usage

This is a typical epson all in one machine. The price is not so expensive, and the function is not so excellent. It performs well, scan well, print well and copy well. The ink ran out quick and the print quality is acceptable. Its an economic all in one and you get what you paid for.

A True All In One Printer

Strengths: Free PhotoImpression Software, Good scanner resolution, Vibrant color photo printer, card reader, CCD display screen for previewing images from card.

Weakness: No color copy option, lack of faxing, consumes way too much ink, too bulky.

This is my second Epson printer purchase after my 2 year old Epson CX4800 finally died.

I used this printer for past 2 days
printing/copying/scanning and the results were just amazing. I also tried printing 3 color photographs and the depth, resolution on color photo's printed are too good.

Point to note is, for 2 days of normal usage(10-15 pages), all the ink levels are down to 40%. This printer is expensive to own when compared to my previous Epson printer.

Just a regular epson printer

Strengths: Easy to use

Weakness: Ink goes fast

This is just a regular epson printer. I have been using cx4600, cx3200 for years. Just upgraded to cx5000. I bought it because it is cheap. Not much change from the previous versions. If you like good quality and want to save ink, I suggest buy Canon or HP.

so-so printer with basic functions lacks many...

Strengths: Inexpensive, printer, scanner, copier, media card reader

Weakness: No LCD, no fax, guzzles ink, slow with Vista

This is an inexpensive basic All-in-One printer that has only thing going for it is its affordable price. It lacks an LCD which defeats the purpose of direct printing from media cards. Most people I'm sure would like to see what they are printing before printing. SO, direct printing without the LCD in my opinion is useless. Also lacks fax, which in my opinion is a must for all AIO. However, I know most basic AIO don't offer this feature. Also, seems to drink INK that can cost you a bundle over time. There are better choices out there.

Stylus CX5000 All-In-One Printer

Strengths: High quality, all-in-one (scan, copy and print), High speed

Weakness: Ink waste (gone too fast), Printing noise

I would say that you don't consider to buy this machine. After just few times use of this printer, you will find that the ink is almost gone. Many people already have bunch of complaints about it. But I couldn't find any solution. High print speed (up to 27ppm) is good feature, but when printing, it has somewhat bigger noise than similar models from other company. Unless the ink problem is solved clearly, you have to avoid this model.

Economical solution for printing photos and scanning.

Strengths: Easy operation, great photo print quality

Weakness: Ink goes fast

Compared to my another Lexmark all-in-one, the quality of this one is better. And it has several ink catridge, at least I only need to replace a empty one instead of replace all of them.

As everyone else mentioned, the ink goes too fast. I am thinking about get a continuous ink supply system for it, since I need to print a lot photos.

solid basic printer

Strengths: relatively fast in black and white mode, good basic printing

Weakness: no screen for reviews of photo printing

nice memory card slots add to the flexibilty for this
printer.no lcd screen is hard to tell what photos to
print. the inks are individual which makes replacing
them very easy and much cheaper than other printers.
this printer is a basic easy to work with for documents
and letters.not the best for photo work, although photos
that were printed were very nice.
