The All-In-One I've Been Waiting For
Started Dec 30, 2007
Strengths: Easy setup, Software Installation, Card-Reader, Auto-Doc Feeder (which adds legal size to scan ability)
Weaknesses: No USB cable needed for initial system configuration, No manual config for finding networked printer
I've been waiting for an AIO that everyone (experts and users) give high marks. This one is the one. This is my first Canon and, more specifically, non-HP printer. I'm thrilled with it. I can now get rid of my Scanjet and Inkjet and have just one system.
Know this ... the initial setup requires a USB connection. So, keep that USB cable you have on your existing printer and don't sell it with your printer on eBay 'til you've set this system up. Once it's set up via USB, you can then set it up for networked access completely and exclusively.
Also, you may get a wireless laptop that cannot locate any printers during the secondary system software installation process. Just keep retrying - as the configurator does not ask if you, perhaps, know the IP address of this system. It seems to have to find the unit on its own in its own fashion. If anything, get your wireless system closer to the router/access-point for faster network recognition - which is what seemed to help me.
Anyway, I'm thrilled with the setup, the product and the reduction of clutter from my home office.
