5 Star Review You can't go wrong

Strengths:

Portable, Long Lasting Prints, Inexpensive Supplies

Weaknesses:

None

Posted Dec 6, 2005 - This is a great little printer to take with you, because it prints directly from most cameras (with Picture Bridge) without a computer required. Instant, on demand 4x6 pictures take about a minute per print. Since there is only one size (4x6) the printer is always ready to print, no setup needed. Pictures are water and fade resistant, because they use a dry transfer printing process. Self corrects images to compensate for overexposure and color. The cost per print is around 26 cents, which is comparable to store printed pictures. Compare that with ink-jet printers and you will see that this is clearly the best choice, since it has none of the problems associated with setting up and maintaining inks and jets.

4 Star Review Good printer, easy to install, fast

Strengths:

easy to set up and use, light and fast printing

Weaknesses:

output quality is uneven

Posted Jan 9, 2006 - easy to set up and use, light and fast printing. and its output is smudge- and waterproof. weighing just 1 pound 13 ounces, the CP400 is small enough to be highly portable. If all you want is something appropriate (and portable), it's a reasonable choice.

4 Star Review The printer's great

Strengths:

Speed, smudge and water-proof prints

Weaknesses:

Size of PSU, no USB cable supplied. Canon Software

Posted Jan 4, 2006 - Love the printer for what it's designed for - small number of 6*4 prints. Being able to connect my Dimage X50 directly via Pictbridge to get an instant print is great. However I find that the Canon software is a pig, and almost impossible to use because of all the assumptions it makes (have they been learning from Microsoft?), and to get a borderless print with no frame - well I have ended up deleting the software and going back to Adobe Photoshop. Being a Novell Network Computer Engineer by trade, I should be able to drive a software package, but this one rated down at the bottom, even worse than Arcsoft for intuitiveness. I have noticed that some prints take on a slightly mauve tone that I cannot correct unless I make changes to the saturation with Dimage. This did not occur with my Canon I5000. I don't have a problem with the running costs, because the printer does not pretend to be an all singing, all dancing bulk photo printer. A pity that they couldn't engineer a smaller power supply! But then again, I'm being fussy. Next I will want a USB cable and carry bag supplied! I give the CP400 an 8 out of 10 and will be hanging on to it for a while. For my bulk photography I will be sticking with film (Fuji Reala) and my Ricoh Mirai for some time yet, mature technology and superior results. Craig Meads New Zealand

3 Star Review A photo printer for everyone

Strengths:

Size, weight (2lbs), thermal-dye technolog, PictBridge compatible to print directly from camera.

Weaknesses:

Can't print from memory cards (SD/CF), slow printing rate (almost 2 mins for a photo), cost to refill.

Posted Dec 8, 2005 - Canon Selphy CP-400 is a great little printer to have one but not for mass photo printing. The thermal-dye technology (dye sublimation) output is smudge and waterproof although I didn't try the water proof part. The weight is less than 2 lbs which makes it highly portable. The printing cost is little high as with any home photo printer but its a cool little printer to have one when you want to print a picture at home and to impress friends.

Strengths:

Small size, fast printing, high quality image

Weaknesses:

no memory-card slot

Posted Dec 7, 2005 - This printer has a small size so I can bring it anywhere and get the print result instantly. It also pretty quick to print especially using with new Canon Digital Camera with DIGIC II. The picture quality is also pretty good for postcard size photo.

4 Star Review Selphy CP400 review

Strengths:

Very compact. clear picture

Weaknesses:

can only print 4X6 pictures

Posted Nov 24, 2005 - I bought this printer a few days ago, I am quite impressed with this small stuff. It's very compacted, you can carry it to anywhere. It's very light. The speed is ok, but one shortage is that it can only print small pictures. Overall it's a great carrying photo printer.
