4 Star Review Excellent color printer

Strengths:

Produce lab quality color prints, large format printing capability

Weaknesses:

Expensive printer and ink tanks, printer head prone to clog if left idle for long time

Posted Oct 22, 2005 - If you don't print larger than 8x10 then go for R800 which uses same technology and costs less than half after rebate. Print made on premium glossy paper looks great, no chance to compare it with other brands though. Don't let it stand idle too long. Ink will dry up and clog the printer head. Head cleaning wastes a lot of expensive ink.

5 Star Review Excellent Printer

Strengths:

Print Quality

Weaknesses:

Consumption/Price

Posted Apr 26, 2006 - I love this printer, great quality in color and despite the opinion of some reviewers I think it produces also very good BW prints - provided to use the right setting and the right paper. Also the prints on CD/DVD are excellent. Printing speed is OK as well. The biggest disadvantage is the consumption; first for price, secondly for having to change cartridges very often (with 8 of them, you almost constantly have to change another one...) Best regards, Dan

5 Star Review Professional photo printer for professional needs

Strengths:

Fast, excellent color, No Postscript

Weaknesses:

None

Posted Oct 31, 2005 - Colors and print quality are amazing. I went through the first two ink cartridges after about 25 (11x17) prints. Photo Black and Cyan. The gloss optimizer went pretty soon after. The prints look like C-prints from a lab and the overall quality difference from the 2200 is amazing. I would definately recommend this product to any aspiring photographer or graphic artist.

5 Star Review Epson R1800 excellent color pictures!!!!!!!!!!!

Strengths:

novice user, easy to install, large print

Weaknesses:

N/A

Posted Sep 23, 2005 - Very nice printer especially for the budget minded buyer. The prints were extremely hi gloss print. It is very quiet compare to my HP laserjet. Now I managed to print large banner. Also it was very fast printing text and photo. Flawless I may added. So If you're looking for a printer check this one out. The price was significantly dropping. I guess the counterpart Epson r2400 was out already. However, Epson R2400 to me was great for printing black and white.

3 Star Review Great printer for a budget-minded

Strengths:

CD and DVD printing, fast and excellent photo quality

Weaknesses:

so-so Black and White print

Posted Sep 22, 2005 - I decided to replace my old canon and got an Epson this time. The quality of the print was superb and very lab quality. Although the BW print was just so-so, however I hardly use the BW print.

5 Star Review Amazing to say the least!

Strengths:

Stunning CD/DVD printing, easy to install

Weaknesses:

None

Posted Oct 31, 2005 - I bought my R1800 two weeks ago and it's fabulous! I've been doing quite a bit of photo retouching in PhotoShop and was anxious to see some of my work in large format. The resulting output totally exceeded my expectations! I was also surprised at the speed at which such fine output was generated. I was somewhat concerned about the cost of maintaining an 8-color system as the cost of replacement cartridges ranges between $12.99 and $14.99, but I've done quite a bit of printing and the color levels have barely budged (and I use the setting for the highest print quality). This is truly a great printer for digital photographers, scrapbookers, and PhotoShop enthusiasts like me. It's an incredible piece of equipment.

5 Star Review Great photo printer

Strengths:

The prints! The size!

Weaknesses:

The cost of new ink cartridges.

Posted Nov 3, 2005 - This printer is amazing! It blows any other consumer level inkjet away. If you are a photographer it is a must. The cartridges are expensive, like all other inkjets. But the joy of having fantastic prints? Priceless!

3 Star Review Mixed feelings about R1800

Strengths:

Easy to set up, price was reasonable for 8-color printer that can handle a variety or papers.

Weaknesses:

Does not have postscript capability

Posted Jan 26, 2006 - After months of research, I was convinced that the R1800 would be the best printer for my needs. I bought the R1800 to print out my digital photos and images of my artwork, expecting professional results. Having years of graphic design experience did not help much; the R1800's inability to print postscript is forcing me to figure out a totally different way to prepare my images & print set up. I'm still playing with the settings/paper type!

5 Star Review Great color prints but terrible for BW

Strengths:

Amazing color print just like the lab

Weaknesses:

awful BW prints

Posted Oct 12, 2005 - I love this big machine, the print was fantastic especially when you enlarge the copy. It is quiet as it could be. The detail of each color is amazingly captured and transformed to any photo paper. I'll say this the best printer on the market at this time. will recommended to anybody.

4 Star Review Great Photo print, worthy to spend $$$$

Strengths:

excellent multi glossy color print, quiet

Weaknesses:

bulky poor BW print

Posted Oct 7, 2005 - I got this product a month ago. The quality of the print was excellent. Beautiful color print large or small pics. The connection was piece of cake. There is a usb calbe or firewire hook up. I tried to print a 8 1/2 by 11 photo paper today and I was very satisfied to the result. So far the only flaw was the BW print which was just OK. Other than that, I loved my R1800 printer.

Strengths:

Multi color accents to illustrate the details aspect of the pics, can print small pics to 11x17 paper.

Weaknesses:

Posted Sep 20, 2005 - I bought this printer for our little business. It was a great purchase for us because we used this printer all the time. The color and details were astonding. The flexibility of different sizes of paper use was wonderful. I will recommend this printer to anybody that is in Photo business or just printing photo. Great product.
