Brother HL-2070N Printer
Strengths: Easy to assemble and operate. Like the envelope feature.
Weaknesses: Haven't found any yet.
Summary: I have no complaints. It has exceeded my expectations. I would recommend this printer to others. The envelope feature pleased me. Just put the #10 envelope in the slot at the front of the printer and print. The printer was recommended by a dealer.

Strengths: Fast warm up time, print speed is surprisingly pretty fast, easy installation and network ready. Does not take up too much space.
Weaknesses: Noise level is a bit on the high side but its not too bad. Paper does curl slightly but thats no big deal. I was required to manually entered the IP for the print server;IP was not obtained from DHCP
Summary: Setup was a breeze; Unpacked everything, pop in toner/drum unit, plug in power cord, connect printer to network via cat5 cable, insert driver cd and within minutes I'm done. Print quality is great even in toner save mode. If connected via network cable, printer can be configured via web browser which is very convenient(just enter printer IP address into browser). Also when accessing/changing printer setting through web browser, it required login/password entry to certain configuration pages. I find this feature a definite plus, especially if there are other users on the network(for security reasons, and prevent unauthorized modification of printer setting). It is very fast when printing and the warmup time only took seconds (2-3 secs). If one does not have a network setup, that wouldn't be a problem because it also have the option to connect to computer via parallel cable or USB. No USB, parallel, or cat5 cables are provided, so make sure you have atleast one of these to connect your printer. This printer is perfect for a small home network. For the price, it is definitely a bargain. I would purchase another one if I ever happen to need a cheap network capable laser printer. Box contents contains: Printer, power cord, toner/drum unit, setup manual and driver cd.

Brother HL-2070
Strengths: Fast printing for the price, easy setup, cheap toner cartridges.
Weaknesses: A little noisy like most laser printers.
Summary: (Edited August 22nd by golfboy198) Fast setup, even on the network, toner saver mode saves on toner and Brother cartridges are cheap when purchased on the internet. There is less paper curling if you use paper made for a laser printer. I would recommend this product for anyone needed a moderate amount of output in a small office or home office environment. It also handles envelopes and legal size paper with ease.

Great Printer
Strengths: Low cost, Networkable (Web Admin Interface), Small, power save mode, econ toner mode, quick (even when coming out of sleep mode), Low toner warning, PCL 6 support, manual duplex, 16 MB RAM.
Weaknesses: Comes w/a starter cartridge, even w/econo mode enabled, it's only good for 999 pgs (it forces you to replace it). Plastic feels flimsy; feels like it’s going to break the paper tray when it opens.
Summary: If you can find this printer for less then $100, then grab it! It's a great printer, and well worth it.
If you order this printer order an extra cartridge so that you have one on hand. The printer comes with a starter cartridge, even with economy mode enabled, it is only good for 999 pages (at which time it forces you to replace the toner). It does warn you that the toner is getting low (I did not take note of the page count, at the first warning), but after a couple of days telling it to continue (a week at the most) it stopped printing (page count was 999), I print a fair amount, about 500-1000 pages per month (1-2 reams of paper). The starter cartridge was not empty, but I was forced to replace it, not very economical. Because I did not have an extra toner cartridge on hand, and I needed to print, I had to run to the store and buy one, and pay full retail. Ouch! I could have paid half the price online if I had known.
It’s a great little printer!
Plastic on the printer feels flimsy; It feels like I am going to break the paper tray every time I open it. So be gentle. It’s not a solid $1000 printer, but the printouts look just as good.
I wish it had a PS driver, but it prints PDF fine using the PCL 6 driver that comes on the CD.
When you have the manual duplex turned on, it will print the front side of the pages, and then after you reload the paper in the tray, you need to press the resume button on the printer so that it will continue to print the second side.
It does not have a paper support for the manual feed slot, so I found it works best to hold the paper until it starts printing, if you use it. When you first load the paper in the manual slot, it pulls it in about 1cm (1/2 inch), and then it’s ready to receive the print job.
It has a hard time with card stock (If could handle it better if it had a rear exit for the paper). You have to use the manual feed slot or the card stock jams in the paper tray (too thick for the pickup rollers).
Great printer! I would definitely buy it again, I paid $129.00 (+Tax and Shipping), and I would buy it in a heart beat for under $100.

Brother HL-2070N - A real deal
Strengths: Excellent print quality, fast startup, comes with 16mb memory(needed for graphics), I like the ability to configure via the internet.
Weaknesses: None
Summary: I replaced an Epson Action Laser II with this printer. The Brother isn't quite as solidly built, but then almost nothing is built as solidly today as it was 10 years ago. In my opinion you can't get a better deal on a laser printer with built in networking. (Office Depot has a $40 rebate which dropped my price to $129)
A tip - be sure to install the software on ALL computers using the printer. As to comments about the paper curl, there is some very slight curling, but most people probably wouldn't notice it. Plus, the curl will go away. Someone mentioned that they had problems printing on envelopes that have the plastic windows. This is probably true, especially since the manual specifically says not to use this type of envelope.
All in all, I'd highly recommend this unit.

Brother HL-2070N Laser Printer
Strengths: Very easy to set up on both PC's and Macs-supports OS 9, OS X, Win 2000 and Win XP. Good fast, high quality prints. Very affordable.
Weaknesses: I can't really think of any. Maybe the Drum needs replacement after 10,000 pages...
Summary: When my 15 year old Apple Laserwriter IIF finally died, I decided to replace it with a networkable printer that was both PC and Mac compatable. The HL-2070N is affordable and I set it up in less than 30 minutes on my network which contains 4 Macs and 3 PC's. It prints faster than the old Apple LWIIF.

Strengths: Not heavy and bulky when compared to other Network ready laser printers.
Weaknesses: The only drawback is that the paper comes out curled
Summary: I liked the toner save mode feature in this printer which helps you save money.
The advanced features like Watermark Printing, Poster Printing, Booklet Printing add value to this printer.
I have been using this since 3 days now. So I`ll have to see what value i got down within three months from now.

Strengths: small size. economic. easy installation. Fast printing
Weaknesses: paper tends to curl
Summary: The installation is very easy for a computer idiot like me. The printing speed is much faster than that of any inkjets I ever had. The printer is space-saving. The only drawback I found is that paper comes out curled.

HL - 207 0N
Strengths: Fast & quiet for the price.
Weaknesses: No stop printing job button. Manual feed has to be held in place while feeding paper in.
Summary: Having no stop-printing button causes waste of time and paper. I usually have to pull out the paper tray instead. The manual feed is the worse thing. I have never heard of a manual feed guides that have to be held in place to feed paper. That is totally inefficient and the results are usually skewed products.

Strengths: Compact size. Excellent text quality. Network connection. Good performance for the price, particularly for graphics and text.
Weaknesses: Photo quality is a weak point, and graphics output is only fair. Output tends to curl.
Summary: If you need an inexpensive personal laser printer and want the convenience of sharing it in a small office or connecting it to a home network, the Brother HL-2070N might be right for you. Graphics and photo quality are disappointing, but if you're looking for a monochrome laser, odds are you care more about text. And its text quality is excellent.

Strengths: Light, space saver, cheap ink, clean print quality, networking function.
Weaknesses: Horrible pictures, paper out of shape
Summary: For the price, it's an excellent printer. Most network capable printers are more expensive. Brother offers cheap toner cartridges as well. It was very easy to set up and you can connect via parallel or usb.

Great Deal
Strengths: Price, Network Interface, Prinout quality
Weaknesses: Manual paper guides, Power Flickers
Summary: I just bought this printer, which was on sale at buy.com for $89. For that price, this printer cannot be beat. The print quality is great and the network interface is extremely easy to set up. Although it is a great printer, it does have a couple things that could be improved upon. First of all, the guides for the manual feed are a joke. Luckily I will not be using that feature. They are so loose that you must hold them in place to use them. The biggest problem is the amount of power consumption. This printer replaced a LaserJet 1012, and that printer would also cause the lights to flicker when the fuser was warming up. The Brother, on the other hand, causes my UPS to switch on and off multiple times while printing. It has even caused the UPS to trip. Plugging the printer directly into the wall seemed to fix the problem. I highly recommend this printer to anyone who needs a basic networkable laser printer. The print quality is great and the cartridges prices are reasonable. Just get used to the flickering lights.

Good until it broke
Strengths: Fast startup, network interface, print quality, not too noisy.
Weaknesses: Broke just after the warranty ran out.
Summary: I turned it on one day and all the lights were flashing. After going around with customer support, they told me to have it serviced which I know means spending more than it is worth. Get the extened w

Brother always great out of the box
Strengths: Easy setup, great Bonjour support, fast printing, clear controls
Weaknesses: Rear-side-mounted power button can be inconvenient
Summary: My client was very happy with this Brother, which replaced his old pre-USB serial HP. Snapped an Ethernet cable between the printer and CPU, and the printer's great zero-config Bonjour feature caused it to show right up and be immediately usable. Prints as fast as it can feed paper, and the first page is pretty sprightly, too. Extremely Macintosh-compatible as well, with a very good and very standard user interface. I own nothing but Brothers myself, and I recommend them constantly.

My first laser printer
Strengths: Very fast, super cheap price on machine and toner.
Weaknesses: Have none to date. Does just what it says it will.
Summary: After reading many positive reviews on this printer I decided to purchase for small business use. Constantly buying replacement ink for my ink jet was my push to find a more economical printer. The set up was a snap. The print is EXCELLENT and even on saver mode it prints just fine. It is also very fast and the page curling thing is blown way out of proportion. If black only print is what you need I highly recomend this printer. I also checked into toner replacement for this machine and found it very reasonable on Amazon around $43. You can also get compatable toner in the $32 range around the net. Now at approximately .02 per page you cannot beat this printer. Plus it looks great and takes up a small amount of space. I highly recommend the Brother HL2070N.
