Expensive but worth it

Started Feb 11, 2006

Strengths: (1) Beautiful prints (2) Print life (3) Roll paper adapter.

Weaknesses: (1) Product cost (2) Ink cost (3) Need to swap Matte Black and Photo Black cartridge

I've printed several color and B&W prints and about all I can say is WOW!. Beautiful color. Neutral B&W. Excellent shadow detail. If only the ink cost less so I would not be tempted to use generics. This is especially true since you waste a lot of ink swapping between matte and photo black. One feature that I've been wanting is the roll paper adapter. I have several panorama photos that I've been waiting to print and my last printer could not handle them. If you are a snapshot photographer, this printer is a waste of money. If you want large prints and your camera equipment has the capability, then this is the printer for you.

UPDATE - Spend some time to get your monitor's color set up to work with your printer. I have mine set to sRGB. Also, make sure to use the correct ICC profile for the paper you are using. By doing this, your printed results will most closely match what you see on the screen. Also, be sure to turn your printer off when you are done using it for the day. I have found this reduces nozzle clogging.

scottl1--thanks for the info. You are aware that sRGB is a color gamut devised by Microsoft (and a limited version of RGB) so that when ordering stuff online from online catalogs what you got sorta looked like what you saw?? Helped online retailers to limit returns, but didn't do much at all for color gamut if you're fussy. Would hate to use it. What were results with regular RGB? Do you use a PC or a Mac? Could have some bearing on color data to printer.
