Monochrome - 22 ppm Mono - USB - PC, Mac - MPN: ML2010
Strengths: unbeatable price, excellent quality print for text, small footprint, easy setup
Weakness: very noisy, no USB cable
I got this last night at a local computer store - w/ rebate, this printer only ran $50. Can't beat that. The sales guy thought the replacement cartridges ran ~$90, I haven't been able to confirm that yet, but if it is true - ouch! This is my first laser printer, so I guess I didn't realize the replacement cartridges were pricey - something to consider if you're new to laser printers too.
And yes, this printer makes a lot of racket when printing. It does quiet down eventually when it's finished printing, though.
Overall, I'm very happy about the purchase and the fact they're making affordable laser printers. I've printed 100+pgs so far, and they look great.

TopStrengths: Excellent price; fast; long toner life; small; much quieter than my old Apple Laserwriter Pro
Weakness: None. For the price this is a wonderful grayscale laser printer.
Price of toner cartridge is comparable to that of other printers so don't be mislead by some reviewers. For the printer itself, this is a reliable, efficient, and very economical unit.

TopStrengths: simple and quick printer
Weakness: no usb cable
I just got this printer in yesterday, and I have to say that I am both impressed and satisfied.
My only complaint is that it doesn't come with a usb cord, but fortunately i had a spare. set up was a breeze, and the form factor is great...
I was most impressed by the speed and quality of the prints. the pages go throught the printer as fast as the feed, with no lag time at all... i haven't tested it's stated ppm of 22, but i don't think they are stretching things.
it comes with a starter cartridge good for a thousand pages, and the price, after rebate, was under 60 bux.
i recommend this printer as a great alternative to inkjet if you don't need color, or as a companion to inkjet if you do.
at this price, it would make a great gift as well.

TopStrengths: fast as hell, with ubuntu dapper drake (linux) setup was a snap, and it actually seems a bit speedier than the quoted 22 ppm, even when grayscaling a 24bpp photo; cute, simple design
Weakness: no color, loud, slightly flimsy chassis
i am a college student who relies heavily on my samsung ml-2010, and have been since december 2005. according to the page counter that prints when i print a test page i am at 1028 pages, still with the default toner cart that comes with the unit (which is rated at 1000). print quality is still consistant even though i must be at the end of the toner's lifespan. needless to say im very pleased with this printer, and the linux support is flawless just plug and play, good work samsung! for $70US this is much appreciated!

TopStrengths: Low cost, very fast, crisp output
Weakness: None yet.
Picked this up at Office Depot, its $50 after mail-in rebate. Amazing how Samsung can create a printer this cheap. It's quite fast as well, and the print is very sharp. I don't really see how people are complaining about its noise because I don't hear anything. Like a previous reviewer has mentioned, your typical PC's fans will likely drown out the little fan inside of it.

TopStrengths: cheap, fast
Weakness: loud
For $50 after rebate, it is a good value. It's loud, but it starts fast enough that I leave it off all the time, and just turn it on to print.

TopStrengths: nice quality prints, lots of paper storage, single sheet use with envelope feeder, fast, ease of use, toner seems to last forever
Weakness: only prints b&w, but that's what you pay for.
this easily compares with the printers I use in the office setting for ease of use and print quality. I have been happy enough with my model that I purchased a second for my daughter. I bought this thing over a year ago and bought a spare toner to be prepared for when the printer ran out. so far, so good - I just hope toner doesn't expire! I love not having to constantly ask myself if I really need to print something because of the cost of the toner.

TopStrengths: easy to use, quality printing, fast speed, affordable price
Weakness: loud noise, starter toner too low
I've bought this product from amazon a couple of days ago. I found this is a good printer with affordable price, good printing quality, fast printing speed, and very easy to use. I would recommend to buy.

TopStrengths: Durability, Reliability, Meets or exceeds all entry level B&W office laser averages.
Weakness: Slow first page, uses PC's CPU to render pages. Heavier weight paper/envelope feed causes creaseing.
I picked this up as refurbished unit for around $70 with a 2yr limited warranty. It's my 3rd B&W laser and I'm rather impressed with it's capability. When you buy a budget small office laser your not expecting great things in quality rather the goal is to get as many pages out of it as cheaply as possible. This unit delivers.
The text quality is above average for a budget printer. It does a good job with serf fonts (times) unless they run into the 8pt or lower area and then some serfs fall out or get clipped. When printing documents with highlighted text the gray scales are surprisingly well rendered, the contrast and brightness of the grays even allows for distinctions between yellow and light blue on screen when it's printed as two different tones of gray.
Budget printers tend to go cause their moving parts are made with cheaper plastics and gears break, snap or jam. Several of these elements in the 2010 are made of thicker harder plastics and I've yet to have any part failures with 4 weeks of nearly continuous printing.
When you print you'll have a bit of a wait time for the first page of the document you sent to it to spit out. Also you'll notice a spike in your cpu usage. This can be a problem for an older machine, my Athlon XP 1800 maxes out on any document over 10 pages of text.
The slot loader for envelopes and thicker gauge paper is located above the main paper tray. It's easy enough to feed in envelopes however you can only feed one at a time and the feed is not a strait pass though, it gets bend around some roller heads which can cause heavier weight paper to crease. But this is common among nearly ever budget printer I've seen.
Lastly I've noticed some comments about toner. While the strait from Samsung toner replacement cartages are around $70-$80 you can easily find generic replacement toner for half that price. The generic version work just as well as the Samsung's as far as I can tell.
Good solid printer. I would recommend a refurbished unit to anybody in need of a cheap workhorse printer.

TopStrengths: Good print quality; slightly above-average toner life; small footprint; inexpensive (relatively)
Weakness: Loud as heck; plastic chassis feels fragile and flimsy; no way to single feed other than to remove all the paper in the tray.
College demands lots of papers, so I gave my inkjet the heave-ho for this little laser printer instead. From an economic standpoint, I scored. The print quality is good and from what I have seen from other units, the toner almost lasts as long as it's supposed to.
From an asthetic standpoint, this ain't the stoutest brew in the barrel. Its cooling fan is louder than some roomates and makes a grating whirr sound that is sure to get on your nerves eventually. Also, the chassis (like most Samsung printers) feels like the same plastic model airplanes are made of, if a bit harder. It can probably withstand a direct hit from a football tossed across the room, but anything harder will probably break it. Lastly, if you want to print out an envelope, you have to remove all the paper from the feed try and manually single feed the printer. Not a deal breaker, but it could have been better designed.

TopActually, you can single-feed by placing the paper in the slot above the bluish paper shield, without removing anything
This is a gem; I've bought two. As for the reviewer who complains of it's lack of single feed--stay in college, sweetie. I'm looking at my 2010 right this moment and there in front of my face is a single sheet feed that will reduce down to the size of an envelope while the paper bin is as full as it can be. Yes, this model seems a bit loud when it starts up but that's in comparison to utter silence of just sitting there waiting for you to send something it's way. I never hear it and always have to look over to make sure the thing is still on when I send something to print. All in all, no reason to not buy it.
Strengths: Low Price for unit (but not the toner unit!), Toner Saver Mode & small footprint
Weakness: Cost of toner unit twice the cost of printer. Causes annoying flickering of office lights - see Comments.
This is my first affordable laser printer for my home office. I bought it for $50 + tax at CompUSA's recent one-day sale.
As a former, & long-time, "Xeroid" Techie I'm a bit more informed on laser printers. And, this unit is AOK in my book - especially for the "throw-away" price. Samsung has put together a speedy, sturdy, laser printer using a minimalist design that beats the price per copy (and speed) of most inkjets I've owned. The best part is the xerographic cartridge with dry toner will avoid that annoying, wasteful & costly problem of wet ink drying out and forcing premature replacement.
The usual drawback is laying out $80 for a replacement cartridge. But, when you spread out this cost over the advertised 3,000 prints per cartridge (at a typical text area coverage) it's about 3 cents a print. I expect even better yield by using the Toner Saver mode almost exclusively to get lighter quality prints that are fine for the draft work I do at home.
I do have one annoying problem with the distractive flickering of office lighting during & after printing while the fuser draws power to come back up to temp. This took me awhile to trace to the printer by process of elimination (i. e. - swapping / substituting loads on the same AC circuit). So, when this problem bothers me, I just turn it off and then back on only when I want to print (and I wait a bit longer for the unit to warm up).
By the way, I don't mind the noise level while it's printing like some reviewers reported.
Also, I saw one review station there isn't a way to slip in different paper. I found that this unit does have a bypass slot above the paper tray to slip-sheet different size & stock of paper.

TopStrengths: I have become to love Samsung products more and more. They provide excellent quality and reliability at an affordable cost. This printer is quick and built solid.
Weakness: Small starter cartridge. Also is a bit noisy compared to other Samsung models.
This is my second Samsung laser printer. I still have a ML-1430 from a few years ago and that is what led me to this model. Seems like this one is even faster but seems to be just as reliable. The only thing I have noticed is it is a bit noisier but I can handle that. It's definately nothing that would scare me away or take away my recommendation for this model.

TopStrengths: Simple and easy to set up. Good starter cartridge. Great price - got for around $50 after rebate!
Weakness: Loud - like all complain! Dont think its beautiful
A laser printer for $50!! It has a great starter cartridge. I use it at home and just for printing rebate forms etc. And it gets the job done super fast - a bit loud albeit.

TopBeauty doesn't hold a candle to how well it performs.
Strengths: Very inexpensive. Good text print quality. Fast printing. Very compact. Toner save feature helps.
Weakness: Very loud when printing. Graphic printing isn't the best. Some paper curling. Initial toner only 1000 sheets.
Got this printer for a great deal. It prints very fast and has good text print quality. Graphic quality is average at best. It is very compact and works well in a small office or home environment. The loud noise it makes is a bit annoying but for the price , its very bearable. I would recommend this for anyone who needs an inexpensive laser printer.

TopStrengths: very fast printing and durable ink
Weakness: shape and color of the printer
I really like this printer because of its printing speed and resolution. And for this price is real good. Suitable for any home or small office, the ML-2010 provides top-rated performance, easy-to-use features and a stunning design.

TopStrengths: Fast affordable monochrome laser printer.
Weakness: No usb cable.
This Samsung ML-2010 laser printer is one of the fastest monochrome laser printer in its class. Hence, it is perfect for printing my school projects. Sometimes, the printer gets a little noisy, when it just starts printing. However, the noise goes away after a while.

TopStrengths: Solid printing, easy setup, lightweight, double sided printing only when you refeed paper back in a port above stock supply.
Weakness: loud when active. wish they would do some noise reduction when making the product. product does go into sleep mode after 10min or less and become very quiet.
this is a great printer and a step up from bubblejets. i would overall reccommend getting it, however keep in mind the cost of toners when buying. for me the toner will end up being more than the printer. starter toner that is included only last 1000pg and not the typical 3000pg.

TopStrengths: printing fast then others, it is light and move to anywhere
Weakness: the sound a little bit loud
I would like to say. It is a good printer that I ever used before. I used Minolta 1250W before, but I feel Samsung ML-2010 is much better than Minolta.

TopStrengths: cheap and faster print.

The print is better than those I had used except HP, small, cheap, faster, what do you need? Its resolution is high, but the sound is loud when it works, however, I like it.

TopStrengths: easy to fix problems, quick, totally good.
Weakness: easy to have small conjections.
it's the first printer i have ever used. it's easy to install and use. the place to put paper in is not great although it saves space. only some small problems. but very easy to fix. once it works, it's very quick. and a lot of options to choose from.

TopStrengths: Fast, good fast prints and practically giving them away after rebates
Weakness: ink in inkjet will dry up from disuse
have been using inkjets for routine use. I have bought this samsung to try out a laser printer and boy what a steal. It blows my inkjet away that cost twice as much. I usually print word docs and miscellanous text, so although color would be nice I really enjoy the fast prints much better. If I need color I will use the inkjet. This is also very small, I have it atop my inkjet under my desk(kinda strange setup but it fits under there and no one really can see them there) and both are connected to my cpu.

TopPrinter is SOOO Loud, is soo disturbing, but cheap price but toner cartidge is almost the same price of the printer itself. Crappy buttons to press cheap looking designs, bad paper feeder, when one uses this printer for over 3 mnths, it starts to jam like crazy
Strengths: Very affordable. Fast printing. Easy to install (on Mac/Windows network using Bonjour software). Small footprint. Toner Saver feature
Weakness: Starter toner cartridge (need to get another one sooner!) No USB cable included.
Overall this printer is a solid laser printer for the basic low-volume user. If you tend to print a lot of pages, then perhaps another printer might be better for you. I typically print (on average) a few pages a day. Most of my printed pages are for my personal records so I keep the printer on Toner Save mode to length the life of the tone cartridge.
Bottom Line: As a low-volume user, I am pleased with my purchase!

TopStrengths: Fast printing (once page is rendered), toner cartridge easily refilled, cheap
Weakness: Jams easily, loud
I think I actually got money back by buying this printer because it was a floor model and had a rebate attached. But anyway, I was worried about the floor model part but it seems to be able to take a lot of use and maybe some abuse.
As others have said, it's about as loud as a small jet engine when turning on, and it takes a little bit of time to warm up. It's extremely quick printing documents with selectable text like Word docs and typed PDFs. Image PDFs take may a WHILE to render per page, depending on the speed of your computer and the complexity of the image, but that is not really a fault of the printer itself. Print quality is very nice and crisp. Be sure to have the "Toner save" feature on, since it doesn't detract from quality and claims to save you toner (I've never had it off so I don't know if it works incredibly well, but 6 college students were able to get a whole year's worth of readings and papers out of one full cartridge). Speaking of toner, it's very easy to refill with bottle toner bought off eBay or somewhere. Don't bother buying cartridges (they're more expensive than the printer itself). It also works well with my Macs (Tiger and Leopard) after finding the right driver. Don't know about Vista.
Unfortunately, the printer jams pretty easily... when I'm not using it. I suspect my friends are just not as careful loading the paper as I am, because I have to keep pulling jammed sheets out for them but rarely have jamming problems with it myself. So just load the paper carefully (in straightened stacks, not one by one if you can help it). I haven't tried thick paper or envelopes, so I don't know how it fairs with those.
Overall, this is a very good printer. There were a lot of rebate deals for it last year, but I've seen mostly its newer cousin with rebates this year, so I don't know if it is quite the deal as before.

TopStrengths: Very good print
Weakness: Loud
Is much louder than the entry level laser printer it repaces. The initial startup time (cold online from when it gets the signal to print until it actually starts printing) takes much longer than my other laser printer.

Weakness: Crappy quality unit and jams a lot. Stopped working all together recently and will no longer feed the paper through the printer. No one here in So. Florida will even service it!
Started having problems after about 50 prints. No longer feeds even with thick paper. Toner saver feature is nice but quality drops big time. Overall just kinda crappy. Will never buy another Samsung printer.

Fast, Easy, and Cheap
Strengths: Easy setup, small, fast, great quality prints, NOT LOUD!
Weakness: No built in ethernet, not much wrong with this one.
I needed something to replace my Epson inkjet printer 875DC. A great printer, but it sucks down the ink! This printer was cheap, fast, and simple.
Print quality is fantastic, and it's faster than I expected. People complain about the noise, it's not really loud. I suppose it is all relative. My computer fans are loud, and completely drown out the fan running on this printer.
My only complaint is with the toner save button. I can't figure out how it works? The only thing in the manual says to touch the button, and it should turn the light on, but it doesn't. I turned it on with the software, but the light on the printer still isn't on. I don't know that it is working.
Great little printer for the money, after rebate it was only like seventy bucks!

I just spoke to customer support as I had the same problem. Though I didn't see it spelled out in the manual, timing is very important when trying to turn on toner save; hold for too short a time, nothing will happen, too long and it will print a test page. You must hold the toner button for around 1 second to turn on the toner save. Much longer than that and you get a test page (and wasted paper...kinda counter productive seeing as we're trying to SAVE toner).
